Abstract

Cycles are not only used as transportation, but also sport and recreational utility. Cycle is a cheap and eco-friendly transportation. But it has several disadvantages in comfort and travel distance. Because of its limitation, people these days use cycle for sport and recreational tool. In eco-friendly environments, people are forced to use pollution-free vehicle. Several campuses, parks, factories and offices use cycle to support eco-friendly campaign. Tandem bike is cycle for leisure and driven by two or more person. Family activity, communication, light sport and transportation can be done by driving a tandem bike. This cycling activity is suitable for people who live in the busy city. This paper is studying process of designing a recreational tandem bike for three people. The study compares existing three or four-driver tandem bike with two new concepts. After selection using scoring based on criteria, selected concept is designed in detail. Evaluationsof design use 2 dimension Cremona method and finite element method.

Abstract

Computerized information system is neededs to help the Dikjar Unit to ease business processes at Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Jakarta to input data. Therefore, it is necessary to design information systems that can support the process. As for tools and construction techniques used in this design, such as flowchart, data flow diagram (DFD) and Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD). And use of software, such as Microsoft Visual Basic 2013 as a tool for designing programs based on web, Microsoft Excel 2013 as the database that will connect with the program designed. This research was limited to only discussing about the design and internal running test. The real appliying on the Dikjar Unit will be discuss on next period of this jurnal. The end result of this research is a web-based application program that used to perform data entry preceptor of thesis and work practice, which are able to assess the performance of the Dikjar's Unit completion time.

Abstract

Leaf spring is a component that functions to receive dynamic load and provide comfort in driving. Leaf springs are commonly used small public service vehicles and small commercial vehicles are deteriorated mechanical properties prior to the age limit of leaf springs. To restore the mechanical properties of the spring there will be a heat treatment that includes heat treatment of cooling (quenching) .From Hardness Vickers hardness test results on steel leaf springs are associated with an increase of hardness, on the condition of normal leaf spring steel without heat treatment hardness obtained average price of 325 , on the condition of the leaf spring steel with heat treatment at a temperature of 8000C with cooling oil obtained average price of 380, on the condition of the leaf spring steel with heat treatment at a temperature of 8000C with air cooling average price obtained - average of 339, from the test results of metallographic condition microstructure on the leaf spring normally with no warm-up run into the matrix pearlitic and at the side there sulfide / impurities formed by sulfur, the results of tests metallographic condition of microstructure on the leaf spring that is experiencing warming with quenching oil in the form of a matrix martensitic and at the edges of experience decarburization , austenitic microstructure form, the results of tests metallographic condition of microstructure on the leaf spring is warming by cooling the air in the form of a matrix perlitic middle and at the edges of experience decarburization micro-structure in the form of ferrite-pearlite.

Abstract

Research that has been done resulting hull of Series 60 is one model of ship hulls. Series 60 hull is used for the a merchant ship to block coefficient range from 0.65 - 080. Research Series 60 hull has great success, the American Towing Tank Conference (ATTC) and the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC) agreed to fund further research for the Series 60 hull. The results of further research, published by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine enginners (SNAME). hull form series 60 is still widely used for type of commercial ships due to have a midship U is almost square so that traffic carried quite a lot of it is important for commercial ships, in addition to stability is also good. The bow of a ship is part of the greatest pressure and voltages, as the brunt of the water and the ship blows waves. Modeled and analyzed Series 60 Hull with a sloping shape of the bow, the bulbows and X-Bow with the main dimension of the vessel : Lpp = 30.97m, B = 4.34m, T = 1.7m. To further analyze the effect of the three forms of the bow ship for resistance and speed. Analyzed to three forms of the hull at speeds of 0 to 8.25 knots have resistance almost flat at around 7000 Newton, meaning the ship relatively similar obstacles. At speeds above the 8.25 knots have resistance vessel with a hull tilted began to increase with increasing vessel speed has become increasingly apparent obstacles ships is increasing drastic, especially at a speed of 30 knots have resistance of ship 257733 Newton when compared with resistance vessel for bulbows form who is resistance 230059 Newton or X-bow have resistance 228943 Newton.

Abstract

Batteries or accumulators on the car serves to store electrical energy in the form of chemical energy, which will be used to supply the system to the electric starter, ignition system, lights and other electrical components. In the car, the battery damage can occur due to many factors including temperature. Batteries that work at higher temperatures will have a life span that is lower than at normal room temperature (25OC). Generally, the location of the battery is in the engine room so that the battery position was close to the engine. The car engine works at the optimum temperature 80 ° C - 90 ° C so that the heat is around the engine room can be exposed directly to the battery and can affect the performance and lifetime of the battery. Adding insulation on cover, with low thermal conductivity coefficient will decrease heat transfer rate . Polyurethane as insulation with 7,5 mm thickness will maintenance battery liquid temperature 45,5 OC after running through three hundred minutes.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to analyze resin in boat body base on composite fiber reinforced plastic with fire resistant/flame retardant. The resin used polyester resin Yucalac 157 BQTN-EX and Yucalac BQTN-FR. Experimental method is used in this research and speciment composite made with hand lay up method and then observed with flammability test UL 94 standard. The result show that composite with Yucalac 157 BQTN- FR resin higher flammability and linier burning rate less than Yucalac 157 BQTN–EX resin.

Abstract

position is strategic to support marine transportation system, where westward the island of Sumatera, South Asia, and the Middle East, to the east is Nusatenggara, and until the Australian continent. Cilacap port has a support area (hinterland) potential, namely the southern part of Central Java, Yogyakarta and West Java southeast. Increased support the region's economy will lead to increased trade that will improve the flow of goods/ commodities and the number of ship visits in the port of Cilacap. The number of ship visits dominated by tankers, and commodities trading is dominated by fuel oil. This study aims to conduct a review of port services, especially services to ships and service of loading and unloading of goods that must be continuously improved quality and quantity.

Abstract

Many previous studies of ejector have been conducted to understand and maximize the ejector performance. The study can be in form of experiments, analytical, and numerical simulation. The numerical simulation looks for the most effective and efficient effort and time in modeling flow process inside the ejector. Model simplification becomes one of solution in conducting simulation effectively. Three dimensional models in general are applied to an ejector that would be analyzed. These models can be compared to the simpler model, namely axisymmetric 2D model. The current study investigated the comparison between 3D and 2D models using numerical solution. Three types of ejectors from different application were used as the objects of the study. The analysis was conducted by comparing the qualitative and quantitative results. The results show that qualitatively the 2D axisymmetric model has good comparison to the 3D model. Quantitatively, 2D axisymmetric model has good similarity to 3D model for ejector performance parameters, such as entrainment ratio and Mach number with biggest difference of 5.7%. However, the velocity and pressure distribution have bigger discrepancies at both axial and radial directions at the area with extreme change, such as at throat nozzle. It can be concluded that the 2D axisymmetric model can be used as substitution of 3D model when the objective is only to obtain ejector performance and qualitative study.

Abstract

Automatic motor engine 4 stroke system uses a carburetor engine is still less than optimal performance. To overcome these problems it created tools that the air intake tube Turbulent Air Vent Tube (AVTT). AVTT is a tool that serves to improve the quality of air intake into the cylinder motor fuel, by changing the air flow laminar to turbulent flow so that the fuel combustion process is ideal close to perfect. AVTT tube designed using aluminum material types AVTT in 6069. Installation of the air filter duct size is adjusted to the motor air filter diameter hole. To determine the performance of a motorcycle engine can be made by automatic test engine performance using a dynamometer. Tests conducted to analyze the effect of the use of AVTT on engine performance includes the automatic motor torque, data, air fuel ratio and fuel consumption. The test results showed that the use AVTT able to increase the torque of 0.06 - 13.74%, power from 0.08 - 13.74%, and the air fuel ratio of 18: 1 - 10: 1, and can reduce fuel consumption 2 - 9 % in both engine variants automatic motor 4 stroke.

Abstract

The use of the tank as well as a container or tank of liquid reserves to make use of the tank as a necessity. By using its own tank design model which is technically very possible to make the pressure in the tank is less than atmospheric pressure so that the tank will take some role pump connected in series are used for the purpose of improving high pressure. Thus the pressure in the tank is smaller than the atmospheric pressure is only generated from the process flow itself will save pump power required on the press. To prevent the air pressure in the tank exceeds the atmospheric pressure relief valve on the tank supplied air to the atmosphere. The more water into the tank, the greater the downward thrust force due to the weight of water and by the buoy to the piston in fixed position, the tank will move downward relative to the piston. The pressure in the tank due to the movement of the closed tube will follow the phenomenon of negative pressure. To get a larger volume of air or spring difleksi rate greater then the pole float should be as light as possible and frictional forces as small as possible.The goal is to produce a prototype tank that can lighten the pump working in particular on the discharge side so it can be input pump power savings. The calculations show that a high hit on the side of the press can be reduced upto 100 percent even including reducing losses on the discharge side by enlarging the capacity of the tank. Thus happen electricity savings of the power required on the discharge side of the pump to drain the water into the tank. With spring replacement inverting the inversion moment will produce a higher pressure suction force behind the rise of the spring.
