Abstract

The Kendeng Mountains, which are rich of limestone, clay, spring and other varying mining sources, are a strategic choice for establishing a cement factory. The plan to establish a cement factory was supported by government but was opposed by the Samin community along with Kendeng farmers. This study aims to discuss the resistance of the Samin (Sedulur Sikep) indigenous people to extractive companies. To discuss this article, we need a theory that can be used to analyze how these volunteers grow and work. This theory is Parsons’ volunteer Action theory. Meanwhile, the research method used was an ethnographic approach. The results showed that the strength gained by the Samin community is the awareness of striving to uphold the maturity of its members through the spirit of a volunteer. This voluntary spirit is developed by cultivating farmer solidarity. Some actors have good rhetorical abilities so that the JMPPK is established to move with an active and open line of resistance.

Abstract

This article aims to discuss drug abuse in the perspective of Christian religious education. Narcotics are basically good drugs when used according to the dosage or doctor's recommendations for health. However, if someone uses it without medical indication or without a doctor's instructions because of the disease or other things recommended by the doctor, it will cause addiction / addiction and dependence popularly known as narcotics. In this case, without the indication (use) recommended by a doctor or an improper dose it will be dangerous to human health and can even cause sudden death. Bible neither directly addresses the topic of drug abuse nor mentions literal prohibition on narcotics and their use. However, it does not mean drug abuse is allowed. In Christian faith, believers must abstain from drugs because drugs can damage both physically and spiritually. In Corinthians 7: 1, it explains "purify yourselves from all things that can defile body and spirit, so that your position may be perfect in the fear of God". This means that as a Christian, he must protect and purify his body so that he does not sin. Thus, drugs can damage the body, both soul and mind, so drug use is not allowed. In this article, the author uses literature review and literature research methods, utilizing written ideas as a source of emphasis on the interpretation and analysis of the meaning of the.

Abstract

Environment and disaster are an integral and inseparable part. In other words, environment can influence a disaster incidence in an area. Environmental issues and disasters are also urgent in Indonesian society. Apart from territorial location and demographic problems, damage and indifference to environment often present such disasters as floods, landslides, earthquakes, abrasion and so on. Flood is one of the environmental problems often occurring in Kelurahan Bukit Sari (Bukit Sari Village). This is due to the geographical conditions of Bukit Sari, located on a fairly low plain at several points and the lack of public awareness of environmental concerns. To minimize this environmental problem, the people of Kelurahan Bukit Sari have taken some efforts and movements to take care of the environment. This research is aimed at studying the environmental movements carried out by the community in order to preserve the environment. The results showed that the environmental care community movement is an initiative carried out by the community itself, while the environmental care movement consists of: waste management and sales, urban framing program and weekly mutual help or cooperative movement.

Abstract

The study aims to develop a strategic formulation by means of integrating and synthesizing traditional typical planning pattern called Meobu-Obu and Musrenbang (Community consultation on development planning held annually from village level to national level) as participatory development planning occurring so far in the area of South Konawe Regency Government. The attempts of reconstructing and functionalizing rural social institutions were developed through community studies, participatory studies and eclectic case studies. The results show that the process of utilizing Village Funds (VF) still focuses more on physical development aspect rather than the aspect of community socio-economic empowerment. Meanwhile, the process of organizing the Musrenbang tends to be formalistic to merely abort the procedural aspects. Similarly, the institution of kalosara still wrestles with ritualistic field of un sich continuosly, so that the sacralization of kalosara culture has not entered the developmental field yet. It is exactly in this context that the result of research offers a formulation of Musrenbang based on cultural value of kalosara to be used in the future in the attempt of building the rural areas, particularly in the mainland of Southeast Sulawesi Province.

Abstract

Adolescents engage in smartphones cognitively and emotionally. More evidence suggests that they tend to be dependent on and addicted to smartphones. However, smartphone usage is inevitable during the COVID-19 pandemic since students need to attend online class. Previous studies have developed measurement method to evaluate smartphone addiction. This study evaluated 13 to 15-year-old adolescents’ self-awareness of smartphone addiction using problematic use of mobile phones (PUMP) approach. Group discussions were conducted with adolescents who did self-assessment using the problematic use of mobile phones scale. The main findings of group discussions include drivers of excessive smartphone use, smartphone usage behavior when they are with family or friends, barriers to healthier smartphone use, and nighttime habits. Despite its advantages during the COVID-19 pandemic, parents need to supervise and to encourage their children to use smartphones wisely.

Abstract

The spread of pneumonia cases caused by a new type of Coronavirus (Novel Coronavirus) SARS Cov-2 was established by WHO called Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on February 2020 and designated as a pandemic on March 11, 2020. However, an interesting phenomenon arises, despite the high number of COVID-19 spread in Jakarta. That is as of April 10, 2020, 50 out of 267 urban villages in Jakarta are declared free of COVID-19 (not infected with the virus) and one of them is the most populous village in Jakarta called the most densely populated urban village in Southeast Asia, namely Kalianyar in Tambora Sub District, West Jakarta. This study aims to find out how does Kalianyar combat the spread of COVID-19, recalling that considering the nature of the virus transmission, Kalianyar has high potential to be a vulnerable zone. The research was conducted through a qualitative analysis on a case study of Kalianyar aiming to examine the deep explanation and understanding of distinctive implementation and to obtain the lesson learned from the implementation of Fournier's idea seeing how the common process occurs. The common process occurring within social organization in Kalianyar shows that there are relational and reciprocal relationships resulting from each activity related to the three axes as suggested by Fournier.
