Abstract

This study aims to know the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on processed fisheries' sellers' economic conditions in Bulak District, Surabaya City. The data collection technique was done by observing, interviewing, and documenting. This research was conducted from March until April 2021. The method of analysis in this study is quantitative descriptive analysis. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank. This study indicates that the Covid-19 pandemic affects the economic conditions of processed fisheries' sellers in Bulak District, Surabaya City. A significant value can prove this effect in the test results < 0.05, which means a substantial difference in the outpouring of working time, capital, income, and household consumption of processed fisheries' sellers before and after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This study analyzes the marketing channels and efficient distribution channels carried out by farmers in marketing sugar products to consumers, knowing how the most economically efficient distribution channels and the obstacles faced by each distribution institution. The essentials primary method used in this research was descriptive. Determination of the location of the study was done purposively. Farmer samples were taken by simple random sampling, and the example of traders was taken by snowball sampling. The entire selection was 28 famers and eight merchants. The research was conducted in May 2018. Data analyzes by calculating the marketing margin and efficiency of each marketing channel. This study indicates that farmers chose four distribution channels to distribute the sugar they have to consumers. The most economically efficient distribution channel was distribution channel III, with an IDR 7,61/kg marketing efficiency value and a marketing margin was IDR 1.000/kg.

Abstract

This study analyzes socio-economic factors based on age, education, farming experience, labor, and land area on lowland rice farmers' decision-making using Tabela (direct seed planting) with and without tools in Ujung Tanah Village, Mare Sub-District of Bone District. South Sulawesi. This research was conducted in January-December 2020. This research was conducted in Ujung Tanah Village, Mare Sub-District, Bone District. The population in this study were all lowland rice farmers in Ujung Tanah Village, as many as 347 farmers. Determination of the number of samples was carried out in 2 ways, namely the census method for Tabela tool farmers by taking the total population of 15 farmers and for Tabela farmers without tools by taking 10% members of 10 farmer groups with 332 population numbers, determining the sample using the cluster proportional random sampling technique. With 33 farmers, the total of the samples in this study were 48 people. The data method is logistic regression analysis. The results of this study are that the socio-economic factors that influence the decisions of lowland rice farmers in the use of direct seed planting technology (Table Toola), namely the farming experience variable and the land area variable have a negative effect. In contrast, the labor variable has a positive impact.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest coffee exporting countries in the United States market after Brazil, Colombia, Vietnam, and Guatemala. It is still unable to shift the export of coffee commodities from these four countries. This research aims to analyze the competitiveness and performance of coffee exports in the United States market using data analysis methods such as Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage (RSCA) and Constant Market Share (CMS). Research is classified as quantitative research that utilizes secondary data, an annual time series data, namely 2010-2019. The data source is exported data for Indonesian coffee commodity digit 6 with HS 090111 (Coffee, not roasted, not decaffeinated) obtained from the International Trade Center (ITC). This study's value results indicate that RSCA Indonesia is 0.87, where the RSCA is> 0. This shows that Indonesia still has competitiveness, although it is lower than Brazil0.95, Colombia, 0.96, and Guatemala, 0.97, and Indonesia is still superior to Vietnam, which is equivalent. 0.79. Meanwhile, the CMS value states that the Indonesian coffee commodity is less desirable in the United States market with an average commodity composition effect value of -0.00006. However, an increase in demand for Indonesian coffee commodities with an average market distribution effect value of 0.00002 and commodity Indonesian coffee has a competitive edge. Strong in the US market with an average competitiveness affect rating of 0.00001.

Abstract

The economic growth in the agriculture sector contributes to the income of the Bangka Belitung Island Province. In the few decades, pepper production in Indonesia retains its position as one of the biggest producers in the world. However, pepper production in the province goes down. Consequently, the income of pepper farmers reduces. Understanding the farmers' demographic and their perception of the technology acceptance model will help policymakers provide the best empowerment program and agricultural support program to uplift their welfare. The study aims to understand the socio-economic profile and the perception of pepper farmers towards the technology acceptance model using information technology in pepper farming activity. The data collection process was conducted from August to November 2019. Structured questionnaires and face-to-face data collection methods were applied to earn the primary data from 100 pepper smallholders in Bangka Tengah and Bangka Selatan, Bangka Belitung Island Province. Descriptive analysis was used to identify the respondents' profiles and explain their skills and awareness to adopt information technology in their farming activity. The study revealed that most of the pepper farmers were in the average age of 45 years old, held elementary school level, received income of about 5.7 million, was experienced farmers with 20 years of pepper farming activity, and had about 2.1 – 5 ha of land area. The majority of the pepper smallholders offered low scores to the proportion of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The results benefit the policymaker and farmer in providing a better farming activity and offering the best program to empower pepper farmers.
