Abstract

Indonesia is one of countries that has high quantity of people but low in quality. It is shown from the low rating in human development index. Thus, the quality improvement i.e. educational improvement should be implemented effectively. Reading is one of the most crucial element in the field of education.  The low rating of reading interest among Indonesian people becomes a tremendous issue which needs to be solved. To tackle, government implements the reading movement as contained in Act of the Republic of Indonesia number 20 of 2003 and ruled by Ministry of Culture and Education (Permendikbud) number 23 of 2015 about 15 minutes of literacy activities prior to the beginning of the study session. The study aims to identify the university students’ reading interest in University of Bangka Belitung as well as to examine the determinant and the obstacle of the university students’ reading interest. Structured questionnaire and online data collection methods were employed to obtain the primary data from 182 university students in University of Bangka Belitung, Indonesia. The study showed that the reading interest of university students in University of Bangka Belitung were at low score. About one-third of the respondents visited library once a week, one-fourth visited library twice a week and only 8.3 % of the respondents visited library 4 – 5 times a week. Almost one-fourth of respondents had 1 – 4 reading materials. Around half of respondents read less than an hour a day. As the determinant of book reading and library attendance, 61.3 % of the respondents were due to do assignment while only 16 % of respondents were due to habit and need to read. Whereas, as the obstacle to reading, almost half of respondents preferred using gadget, around one-fourth of respondents spent their times with friends and 39.2 % of respondents were too busy with their extracurricular activities on campus.

Abstract

The economic growth in the agriculture sector contributes to the income of the Bangka Belitung Island Province. In the few decades, pepper production in Indonesia retains its position as one of the biggest producers in the world. However, pepper production in the province goes down. Consequently, the income of pepper farmers reduces. Understanding the farmers' demographic and their perception of the technology acceptance model will help policymakers provide the best empowerment program and agricultural support program to uplift their welfare. The study aims to understand the socio-economic profile and the perception of pepper farmers towards the technology acceptance model using information technology in pepper farming activity. The data collection process was conducted from August to November 2019. Structured questionnaires and face-to-face data collection methods were applied to earn the primary data from 100 pepper smallholders in Bangka Tengah and Bangka Selatan, Bangka Belitung Island Province. Descriptive analysis was used to identify the respondents' profiles and explain their skills and awareness to adopt information technology in their farming activity. The study revealed that most of the pepper farmers were in the average age of 45 years old, held elementary school level, received income of about 5.7 million, was experienced farmers with 20 years of pepper farming activity, and had about 2.1 – 5 ha of land area. The majority of the pepper smallholders offered low scores to the proportion of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The results benefit the policymaker and farmer in providing a better farming activity and offering the best program to empower pepper farmers.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 telah melanda seluruh dunia pada beberapa bulan terakhir. Hal ini memberikan dampak negatif pada sektor ekonomi dan sosial bagi masyarakat. Walau bagaimanapun, kondisi ini tidak boleh dibiarkan terus berlarut-larut. Perlu ada kegiatan kemasayarakatan agar masalah yang ada dapat diselesaikan. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di Desa Banyuasin Kabupaten Bangka adalah untuk memberikan kontribusi dan turut berpartisipasi aktif dalam usaha memitigasi dampak dari wabah Covid-19. Kegiatan pemberdayaan masayarakat ini terdiri dari empat bidang yaitu: bidang masyarakat; bidang lingkungan; bidang pendidikan; dan bidang kesehatan. Sosialisasi, pendampingan, kegiatan penyuluhan dan demonstrasi merupakan metode yang dilakukan dengan tetap mengikuti protokol pencegahan Covid-19. Kegiatan ini mendapatkan hasil bahwa masayarakat memberikan umpan balik yang positif dan memiliki kemauan agar kegiatan ini ada keberlanjutannya. Masyarakat mendapatkan manfaat yang dapat dirasakan dari berbagai bidang pada program yang ditawarkan. Kegiatan ini dapat sangat berguna bagi masyarakat Desa Banyuasin menjadi desa wisata berbasis pertanian.

Abstract

Dalam pengembangan suatu usaha perlu dilakukan suatu model bisnis yang dikenal dengan Business Model Canvas. Dalam model bisnis ini perusahaan bercerita tentang kondisi internal maupun eksternal perusahaan. Adapun bisnis model canvas perusahaan menampilkan model blok/elemen bisnis yang terdiri dari sembilan elemen. Pendekatan ini digunakan untuk menerapkan implementasi Business Model Canvas di UKM“Raja Abon Makmur Lestari” Kota Pangkalpinang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi model bisnis produk abon menggunakan analisis Business Model Canvas. Data didapatkan dalam penelitian ini hasil wawancara dengan kuesioner terhadap pemilik, dua orang karyawan serta konsumen abon sebanyak 30 orang di kota Pangkalpinang serta hasil studi literatur pendukung. Hasil yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini adalah setiap elemen yang diidentifikasi telah dipertajam dengan menggunakan analisis SWOT. Dari analisis tersebut diketahui bahwa diperlukan perbaikan pada hampir semua elemen model bisnis dalam usaha raja abon makmur lestari. Perbaikan model bisnis raja abon makmur lestari terfokus kepada perbaikan kegiatan pemasaran. Terutama melalui media online guna meningkatkan pendapatan.  Business model canvas is known as an approach in business development and used as a business model. It describes about a condition of internal and external of organization.  It also shows the business element which consists of nine elements. The approach is applied on the business model canvas in a small medium enterprise which is called as “Raja Abon Makmur Lestari” in Pangkalpinang City. The study aims to evaluate the business model of the product using business model canvas analysis. The data was collected through the interview using questionnaire towards the owner, two staffs and 30 customers in Pangkalpinang City and other related articles or documents. The study revealed that every identified element has been emphasized using SWOT analysis. It stated that it required the improvement on every single element of business model in Raja Abon Makmur Lestari. The improvement of business model of Raja Abon Makmur Lestari prioritized on the improvement of marketing activity especially throuh the online media in order to increase the income.

Abstract

Bycatch small pelagic fish during the fishing season can be oversupplied so that its price goes down.  The study aims to analyze the proximate of local fish powder from the by-catch and probiotics of Probio_FM in the fish feed in Bangka Belitung. The method was the data compared with the Indonesian National Standard, SNI 01-2715-1996/Rev: 92 about the raw material of animal feed as fish powder and fish feed with six different treatments. The study found that the bycatch or trash from small pelagic fish could be used as a fish powder or fish feed. The proximate analysis on fish powder and fish feed with probiotics Probio_FM included as the quality of SNI. Crude protein values from 25.75% until 66.96% that was above SNI standard I (1.5%), II (2.5%), and III (3.0%) could be followed up into an economical business. Fermented activity from Probio_FM could degrade the protein and other components proximate such as ash content, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, calcium, Phosphor, and NaCl. The amino acids from protein were getting simpler and easier being absorbed by fish in culture or livestock farms. Probio_FM was assumed to degrade the protein value and other components proximate due to the utilization of nitrogen and ammonia derived from the process fish protein hydrolyzation of probiotic bacteria. The production of local feed should be implemented to reach feed security and very important to be developed into a community business. Proximate analysis of bycatch could support sustainable good aquaculture practices in the future.

Abstract

This community service aimed utilizing probio_Fm technology in feed processing and animal health management for empower society. There were three steps in the activity they were socialization, demonstration, and monitoring and evaluation. Qualitative descriptive analysis was applied to analyze the data. The activity found that the beneficiaries had been empowered to make the feed and apply the Ayam Merawang health management by using Probio_Fm technology. The empowerment activity affected the increased knowledge of beneficiaries on the various source of feed material. There was some feed source used in the practice of fermented complete feed which was bran, corn, coconut pulp, rough fish, premix, pellets, molasses, and probiotics of probio_Fm. The feed smelled fermented and was tanned, testable, and durable feed. The durability of the feed could be up to 14 days. The application of probio_Fm technology through animal feed and water affected the increase of animal health, the reduction of bad smell of animal waste, the effective feed and animal health management by feed processing once time a week, and the low cost of feed which was Rp 5,000/1 kg with protein until 29% in 100 kg of feed. The utilization of the various potential source of materials animal feed in Merawang could be optimized by implementing the sustainable Probio_Fm technology.

Abstract

Petani lada di Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung menghadapi berbagai tantangan dan kendala disaat kondisi perekenomian semakin hari semakin sulit terutama ditengah pandemi yang tengah melanda. Pemerintah telah memberikan banyak program bantuan berupa subsidi dan pemberian secara cuma-cuma berupa imput pertanian kepada petani lada. Meskipun demikian, hal tersebut belum memberikan dampak positif berupa peningkatan kesejahteraan kepada petani. Program pemberdayaan masyarakat bertujuan untuk memberikan alternatif solusi yang mana akar permasalahan berada di sisi hulu. Rendahnya kapasitas petani mengenai praktik pertanian yang baik merupakan isu yang ada di antara petani lada. Metode yang dilakukan pada program pemberdayaan masyarakat ini berupa sosialisasi dan pelatihan. Program ini diharapkan mampu memberikan kontribusi kepada pemecahan masalah yang dihadapi oleh petani lada di Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung. Program ini menemukan bahwa selama ini petani masih menerapkan pola pertanian konvensional sehingga produksi lada cenderung tidak ideal. Program ini juga menemukan bahwa telah terjadinya peningkatan kapasitas petani tentang budidaya lada yang baik. Diharapkan bahwa dinas pertanian dan pemangku kepetingan yang lain dapat lebih intensif dalam memobilisasi kegiatan penyuluhan di lapangan agar petani dapat secara terus menerus membudidayakan komoditas lada dengan memenuhi tata cara praktik pertanian yang baik.

Abstract

In Central Bangka, The red chili pepper’s productivity is still considered at low level. It is corroborated from comparison between the productivity of red chili pepper which is computed as 35.6 quintal per hectare while the potential productivity of the genetics of red chili pepper is 200-220 quintal per hectare. It is presumed that the productivity of red chili pepper is technically inefficient. The aim of the study is to analyze factors that affect the production of red chili pepper and the technical inefficiency. The study also determines the level of technical efficiency of red chili pepper on smallholders who participate in the agriculture productivity improvement program in Central Bangka Regency. Survey was carried out to collect the data with purposive sampling method. The criteria of respondents were those red chili pepper smallholders who had involved with the agriculture productivity improvement program. The total sampled respondents were 43 smallholders. Stochastic frontier analysis with the Maximum Likelihood Estimate was used to analyze the data. The study discovered the factors that affect the production of red chili pepper were labor, potassium fertilizer, insecticide, and fungicide. Furthermore, the productivity of red chili pepper was considered as technically inefficient which was shown from the average score of technical efficient, 0.54. Finally, the study revealed that side job became factor that could increase the technical inefficiency of red chili pepper farming activity while the frequency of attending the empowerment program and farmer field school were otherwise.

Abstract

Raja Abon Makmur Lestari (RAML) is a home industry that produces a various types of flosses both from animal and vegetable. In terms of marketing, the owner faces obstacle such as the fluctuated sales, lack of manpower, unachieved targeted turnover, as well as the high competitiveness in the industry. Thus, the marketing strategic is required to solve the issue. Marketing mix is one of the ways as the marketing strategic to create purchasing decision on the consumers. Case study was used as the approach of the study. The owner and the consumer were the respondent of the study. Quantitative strategic planning matrix (QSPM) was used as a data analysis method. It was used to determine marketing strategic priority based on the internal decision. The descriptive analysis was also used to evaluate the marketing mix. The study found that the marketing mix priority was put in order: promotion, product, place, and price. Furthermore, the priority of sub promotion mix was direct marketing, public relation, mass media and social media. The study was beneficial for the RAML to determine future marketing strategic so that the goals setting will be achieved effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

Produktivitas cabai merah di Kabupaten Bangka Tengah masih tergolong rendah. Hal ini dapat terlihat dari nilai produktivitas cabai merah di kabupaten ini masih berada jauh di bawah potensi genetis cabai merah keriting yaitu 35.6 kuintal per hektar, sedangkan potensi genetis cabai merah keriting sebesar 200-220 kuintal per hektar. Kondisi ini menimbulkan dugaan bahwa usahatani cabai merah di Kabupaten Bangka Tengah belum efisien secara teknis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi produksi cabai merah, tingkat efisiensi teknis usahatani cabai merah dan faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan inefisiensi teknis usahatani cabai merah bagi petani yang mengikuti program peningkatan produktivitas pertanian di Kabupaten Bangka Tengah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode survei. Metode penarikan sampel yaitu sampling jenuh. Kriteria responden yaitu petani yang berusahatani cabai merah serta telah mengikuti program peningkatan produktivitas pertanian di Kabupaten Bangka Tengah, dengan jumlah 43 orang. Metode analisis data yang digunakan yaitu model fungsi produksi stochastic frontier, dengan metode Maximum Likelihood Estimated (MLE). Hasil analisis menunjukkan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi produksi cabai merah petani yang mengikuti program peningkatan produktivitas pertanian di Kabupaten Bangka Tengah yaitu benih, tenaga kerja, insektisida dan kapur. Usahatani cabai merah petani yang mengikuti Program tersebut tidak efisien secara teknis. Ini terlihat dari rata-rata nilai efisiensi teknisnya sebesar 0.54. Kondisi ini mengindikasikan bahwa petani belum optimal menggunakan faktor produksi pada usahatani cabai merah. Faktor yang menyebabkan usahatani cabai merah petani yang mengikuti Program tersebut tidak efisien secara teknis yaitu frekuensi mengikuti penyuluhan cabai merah dan pendidikan petani.
