Abstract

Mining may directly affect the surrounding environment if the tailings produced were not processed properly. Tailings from gold mining activities caused critical land condition both physically and chemically. The damage of environment caused by mining activities need to rehabilitated. Rehabilitation can be done through revegetation of pioneer plants, addition of organic matter, and potential microbiological applications. This research was conducted to determine the potential of organic matter and Azotobacte inoculant for gold mine tailing rehabilitation on soil total N, N uptake, and growth of peanut. Experiment was carried out at Biology Laboratory, Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition Laboratory Department of Soil Science and Land Resources and Greenhouse of Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor. The experimental design was Split Plot consisted of three replications. Main plot is dosages of organic matter consisted of 1,5%, 3% and 4,5% dosages, sub plot was the species of Azotobacter and consisted of control, indigenous Azotobacter sp., Azotobacter chroococcum, indigenous Azotobacter sp. and Azotobacter chroococcum constria. The result showed there was no interaction between Azotobacter sp. inoculant and organic matter toward total N, N uptake, and growth of peanut on tailing. Organic matter of 1,5% and 3% significantly increased total N of soil. Keywords: Azotobacter, nitrogen, peanut, tailing

Abstract

Inorganic fertilizer is a very important agricultural input to increase agricultural production. Uncalculated and continuous application of inorganic fertilizers will lead to the reduction of soil fertility and degradation of environmental quality. Therefore, a strategy is needed to support the environmental sustainability in agriculture. One of the efforts is through the production of biofertilizer and organic fertilizer from local resources. Organic fertilizer for rice plants can be made by utilizing the local water fern, Azolla pinnata. A. pinnata can be applied on rice fields as green manure by directly placing it into the soil or spread on the surface of rice fields. Organic fertilizer that made from Azolla will be more advantageous because it can be applied with biofertilizer. This study aimed to determine the formulation of Azolla based solid biofertilizer that can support the growth of functional microbial population based on the Agriculture Ministry (Permentan) standard number 70/2011. The design of the study method used was Completely Randomized Design with six replications. The treatments used were inoculant starter with 3% molasses, 3% molasses + 10% rice wash water, 3% molasses + 1% yeast extract, and 3% molasses + 10% rice wash water + 1% yeast extract. The results of this study showed that Azolla-based solids fertilizer with starter formula 3% inoculant molasses + 10% rice water + 1% yeast extract have the population of Azotobacter, Azospirillum, endophytic bacteria and phosphate solubilizing microbe were greater than 108 cfu/g dry weight. Functional microbial of solids fertilizers in all formulas used do not show the difference on inhabiting in the N-free media or Pikovskaya selective media.  Keywords: Azolla pinnata, formulation, biofertilizer, organic fertilize

Abstract

The research was conducted to determine the effect of chicken manure and anorganic fertilizer combination towards organic carbon, total N, C:N ratio, and fresh weight of tuberose (Polyanthes tuberose L.) on Typic Hapludults. The research design used was Randomized Block Design (RBD) with ten treatments and three replications. The results of this research showed that there was an increase on organic carbon, total N, C:N ratio, and fresh weight of tuberose from combination of chicken manure and inorganic fertilizer. Treatments of ½ dosage of chicken manure (40 g/polybag) + ½ dosage of anorganic fertilizer (Urea 1,5 g/polybag, SP-36 0,25 g/polybag, KCl 0,15 g/polybag) was the efficient combination increased the fresh weight of tuberose by 91,56 g/plant.Keywords : inorganic Fertilizer, chicken Manure, Fresh Weight, Tuberose

Abstract

Urea is N fertilizer that often used by Indonesian’s famers. Zeolite and activated charcoal is known to be able to increase efficiency Nitrogen from urea fertilizer on paddy soils. This research was conducted to study the urea-zeolite-activated charcoal fertilizer combination for acidity (pH), Redox Potential (Eh) level, slow release NH4+ (ammonium) and NO3-(nitrate) on paddy soils. Experiment was carried out at greenhouse and experimental field, Departement of Soil Science and Land Resources Management, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor. The experimental design was Randomized Block Design consisted of five treatments and five replications. The treatments consisted of A (control), B (50% Urea + 25% Zeolite + 25% Activated charcoal), C (50% Urea + 45% Zeolite + 5% Activated charcoal), D (60% Urea + 40% Zeolite) and E (95% Urea + 5% Zeolite). Experimental result showed that the application zeolite and activated charcoal increased the pH and decreasead Eh level. Application of urea-zeolite-activated charcoal fertilizer (50%:45%:5%) is the best for slow release ammonium. This experiment showed that application of Urea-Zeolite-Activated Charcoal (UZAA) fertilizer could reduce the usage of urea fertilizer.Keyword: urea, zeolite, activated charcoal

Abstract

The content of trace elements in the soil and plant is generally very low. Cobalt (Co) is a trace element that has an important role for plant metabolism. This research was conducted to study the combination effect of liquid micro fertilizer (LMF) with N,P,K fertilizer on total Co, available Co, Co uptake and corn yield (Zea mays L.)  var. Pioneer 12 on Fluventic Eutrudepts. This research was conducted at the test field of Soil and Water Management, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor. The altitude located at ± 725 meters above the sea levels. This research held from January to May 2014. The experimental design used were Randomized Design Group with ten treatments and three replications, with the total of experimental plots were 30 plots. The treatments consisted of control (without fertilizer) and combination of dosage LMF (0, ½, 1, 1½, and 2) with N, P, K fertilizer (0, ¼, ½, ¾, and 1). The results showed that the combination application of LMF + N, P, K significantly affect the Co uptake and corn Pioneer 12 yield. Combination effect of LMF (1, 1½, and 2) with 1 dosage of N,P,K fertilizer gave the best results of 19.93, 18.57,and 18.17 kgs plot-1 or equivalent with 8.47, 7.89, and 7.72 tons ha-1 respectively. Keywords: corn, cobalt, Fluventic Eutrudepts, micro fertilizer
