This study aims to develop an authentic assessment instrument for spiritual attitudes and social attitudes based on character education in grade IV SD Negeri 125138 Pematangsiantar. The research method uses research and development (R & D) with a development model according to Borg and Gall. The development of the thematic average instrument based on character education and equipped with an authentic assessment instrument for spiritual attitudes and social attitudes based on character education has proven to be effective. The pretest learning outcomes of the control and experimental classes, namely the control class were 57.16 while the experimental class was 60.28. After the trial was carried out for 6 meetings, the average posttest score in the control and experimental groups increased to 71.36 and 75.56. The results of the t-test obtained tcount = 6.280 with a significance level of Sig. (2-tailed) 0.002 < = 0.05. The control class students' learning activities reached an average of 52% in the good enough category and the experimental class reached an average of 88.6% in the good category. Thus, the increase in student learning outcomes was higher in the experimental group. The N-Gain obtained is 0.54 which shows the number <0.6 which means that it is very effective.

Abstract

The increasing number of dropouts during the Covid-19 pandemic needs to find an alternative solution by planning for philanthropy-based education financing. This paper aims to discuss education financing planning and to know the role of philanthropy in rescuing dropout students. The research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach with content analysis techniques. Educational institutions must plan education financing in the budget work plan by seeking alternative funding assistance for students dropping out of school due to economic problems. Mitigation of dropout students is carried out by identifying students and parents, providing counselling services, collaborating with donor agencies, continuing formal or non-formal schools and finding donors or sponsors. The role of philanthropy in Indonesia in education has provided positive support, equality and sustainability of the quality of human development, including dropout students. The research contribution provides an overview for educational institutions to find and prepare special budgets to overcome school financial difficulties and overcome students who leave due to not being able to carry out their financial obligations during the COVID-19 pandemic. The implication is that education financing planning efforts in mitigating dropouts are integrated into philanthropic institutions.

Abstract

Geography plays a significant role in shaping the identity of an individual, especially, African ‘black’ identity. In the globalized era, black identity does not imply a stable signifier of the African race but is substantially contingent. The global interconnectedness has rendered the communication between different community’s complex and challenging. The diasporic encounters of Emecheta and Adichie draw a separate yet linked legacies of their local/translocal black experiences from which they elicit their understanding of the two global realms, Global North and Global South. The research article critically analyzes the major concerns of race and black identity in the select novels, Kehinde and Americanah. The argument tries to bring to the forefront two conflicting cultural and political forces, African and American/European, simultaneously transcending and celebrating the local and the translocal. As a consequence, the subjective identities of the character’s act as variables that perceive the racial difference on the one hand, and on the other, the difference helps contribute in their identity formation in hybrid spaces like America and Britain.

Abstract

The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) is recognized as powerful predictive model to explain consumer purchase behaviour. However, there have been relatively few studies that determine the role of TPB’s constructs in e-cigarettes decision-making process. Moreover, the TPB ignores the impulsive motivation (i.e., hedonism) and unconscious motivation (i.e., habit) and perceived knowledge in the literature. This study adopted a quantitative method based on a survey with 293 young respondents using e-cigarettes. The proposed hypotheses were empirically tested with SPPS and AMOS. This study revealed that perceived knowledge positively influenced attitude, subjective norm (SN), and perceived behavioural control (PBC) respectively. The results showed a positive relationship between attitude, SN, PBC and intention, and intention positively influenced actual e-cigarettes use behaviour. The results also demonstrated how consumers’ hedonic motivation and habit influence intention. Lastly, the theoretical and practical implications and limitations were discussed.

Abstract

In order to assess the value and effects of an implemented institutional extension program, it needs to be evaluated after some time. This study aims to investigate the level of program outputs and impacts of programs in an adopted community of a local college. It also attempts to discover the relationship between the level of program outputs and the impacts of the programs economically and socially. The investigators used a descriptive-correlation research design among conveniently selected respondents in a small suburban community for the survey. This study also adapted and modified an instrument and used SPSS 23 for the statistical calculation of the study. The investigation revealed that all of the community extension program outputs by the institution got "very satisfactory" remarks from the respondents. As for the economic and social impact of the programs of the community extension services, it also obtained a "very satisfactory" response. Statistical inferences also revealed a moderate positive correlation between program outputs' level with the program's economic and social impact and the community extension services. The investigators provided relevant recommendations for sustainability and support based on the study results.

Fisher exact test was used as statistical test with CI: 95% (α: 0.05). There is a relationship between knowledge and participation in the vaccination program (p-value: 0.023 < 0.05). There is no relationship between attitude (p-value: 0.168 > 0.05) and information exposure (p-value: 0.280 > 0.05) with participation in the vaccination program. The availability of transparent information on vaccine efficiency and safety can play a key role for everyone to be encouraged to vaccinate without hesitation.

Abstract

Gele, pronounced gay-lay, is simply head covering, typified and rooted in feminine fashion of the Yoruba, home and abroad. It is the ultimate apparel adorned by the female folks of all age, class and status; giving acclaimed quintessential top notch appeal, deserving of a true Yoruba dress. In other words, clothing accessories conglomerating costume, footwear, makeup and hairstyle is incongruous without gele particularly in the Yoruba milieu. Gele congruity in female dressing is unequivocably material to recent proclivity and self expressions as observed in generation and regenerations of well over thirty stylish gele ideas and innovations. In view of the latter, this paper examines gele stylistic inclination; using Ibadan as its case in point, being the largest city state in modern Yoruba history. The methodology adopted was triangular approaches of participatory field investigation, online survey and artistic visualisation. Gele adherents and stylists of Ibadan metropolis were physically interviewed, figures sourced virtually and appraised artistically. Eight gele styles were shortlisted and stylistically visualised. Findings revealed dynamism in prevailing gele styles, with apparent classic and comely finesse on beholders. Consequently, this paper hopes it finding will help promotes gele styling among teeming youths locally and globally; provoking studies on the subject matter.
