Abstract

Internet is a source of information which is widely used today. However, the mode of internet abused becomes more various and unavoidable. The internet abused can be done from external or internal networks. Unified Threat Management (UTM) is one of a good solution to secure the networks, because it has several security features such as firewall, proxy, Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and several other security features in one package. Endian is an UTM distro which is an open source in large community. Besides having some security features, Endian also has some network management features such as DHCP, routing, and VPN. This research put Endian as the center of a network topology that connected to the internal network/LAN, DMZ Server, and Internet Network/WAN. The tests are conducted in the form of implementation of DHCP feature, content filtering, port restrictions on interzone, and the response of the IPS features that exist on the Endian while receiving the attack. The results showed that Endian UTM is quite well in maintaining the security of the networks.

Abstract

The final project is the last stage of the students to complete the lecture. In accordance with academic rules at Telkom University allow final project work done in groups. This is to improve results more complex than the results of the final project obtained individually. But there are problems faced by students and lecturers who join the final project team, which is how to work on the final project together and monitoring the progress of each student in the team. This is due to differences in location and time in work. On the lecturer, side finds constraints that are how to be able to monitor the progress of each team member in detail. In this paper proposed a solution to overcome the problem is to apply for collaborative information technology support. The collaborative method used the Kanban's method, where each work will be divided into small parts that can be done together. Application for Final Project Collaboration and Management in School of Applied Science Telkom University was developed with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Prototype method using PHP programming scripts and MySQL database. This application will manage the final project, especially in groups, facilitating the final project team to define all parts of the work of each team member who can collaborate with each other and communicate in each job. Lecturers as project supervisors can participate in collaborations and discussions in every work.

Abstract

Filter is one of key module in a radio telescope system. This article present the development of VHF LC-passive filters meant to support a multiband antenna in a transient radio telescope system by reducing the bandwidth of each operating frequencies. The filters were developed by employing low-cost inductor and capacitor with low self-resonant frequency (SRF) an hence the characteristic are highly affected by the parasitic inductance of the capacitors an parasitic capacitance of the inductors. Therefore, general equation to develop an LC filters was no longer applicable in developing these filters. Nevertheless, three filters were successfully developed, operated at 38 MHz, 74 MHz and 152 MHz with relatively good quality factors up to of about 13.

Abstract

This research presents an overview to develop an IT adoption method for e-learning in a Merged University. The development of IT adoption method in the Merged University is done by adjusting the gap between three elements: IT maturity level (in this case IT for elearning), category adopter of each Merged University and IT adoption criteria of individual actors of adoption. The maturity level of IT maturity level refers to Gartner, Hype Cycle, and Priority Matrix. Classification groups refer to adopter categories according to Rogers. The adoption model uses UTAUT model. For the process, a priority calculation method utilizes Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). IT adoption method for e-learning in a Merged University has been tested and can be applied Telkom University, formed from four universities.

Abstract

The quality of LTE (Long Term Evolution) network in WR Supratman Street, Bandung is categorized as quite bad as shown by the average RSRP (Reference Signal Receive) and SINR (Signal to Interference Noise Ratio) values of -101.30 dBm and 2.43 dB, respectively. Both parameters are below the standard operator with the average RSRP and SINR standard values of -101.30 dBm and 2.43 dB, respectively. The previous field measurement indicated that the area belonged to a bad spot area caused by shadowing buildings. This study used the node scheme of decode and forward and physical mode of inband relay node with the aim of extending the eNodeB coverage. By applying this technique, the average RSRP value increased by 18% and the average SINR value increased by 53%. Based on the RF (Radio Frequency) parameters, the average RSRP value with samples below the -85 dBm standard improved by 81%, while the average SINR value with samples below 5 dB improved by 45%.

Abstract

Computer networks have evolved with the presence of cloud computing technology to accommodate the problem of inadequate computer devices and application services that are not integrated. USM (Universitas Semarang) which located in Indonesia is an educational institution that has implemented cloud computing technology using ROCCA (Roadmap for Cloud Computing Adoption) to accommodate the needs of internal application systems at this institution. The problem arises because the system administrator of the computer network is difficult to monitor the condition of the virtual server running because physically, the virtual server cannot be seen and touched. If there is a problem in one service, then the repair process takes a long time because there is not enough notification system to provide fast and detailed information about the condition of the virtual server running so that it will interfere with the quality of service from internal application system. The solution of these problems enhances the NMS (Network Monitoring System) functionality with notification system technology. Use PPDIOO method, this research will combine Pandora FMS and Telegram based on Android platform to implement a fast notification system in monitoring conditions virtual server resources which directly sent the message to the system administrator’s smartphone. The expectation of this research is the quality of internal application service at USM (Universitas Semarang) can be properly maintained.

Abstract

Information Technology (IT) Governance in Hospitals describe how to create an IT governance process that increases the number of IT projects that support the strategy of a hospital and are completed on-time and on- budget. Good IT governance aligns decisions about the use of IT with desired behaviors and organizational objectives. The existence of good IT governance at Hospitals is expected to provide improvement on quality, functionality, and ease of use of the service. Enablers in COBIT 5 framework can be applie in practical situations and can be used to implement effective and efficient information governance and data management of IT governance for Hospital. In this paper, we propose IT governance in Hospital base on COBIT 5 framework. In the preparation of the proposed IT governance model, the enablers that exist in COBIT 5 framework is used as a determining factor. For performing the optimization of IT services to achieve the normal vision andmission uses base on a model of IT governance for a hospital.

Abstract

Information media of technology nowadays becomes a very easy means to convey information, and one of the recent technologies that still develop is augmented reality, which is used as information media. Augmented reality can integrate an image target and can be implemented easily. This technology utilizes an object tracing and uses detail feature from every camera object, after that it can be applied to all smartphones. By taking advantage of this technology, the augmented reality, and using logo marker and animation video, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology Semarang University can share information of its activities and can attract many people's attention to know further about activities held by this faculty. This research focuses on the augmented reality which will show the activities ranking, the activities held by the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology. The activities are shown by animation video using quick sort method to display them based on the most number of activities held by each study program. The result of this research finds out that study program of communication technology holding the first ranking. This study program holds the most often activities so the number of activities is the highest. The application can be displayed virtually using a smartphone and developed using Unity 3D and Vuforia.

Abstract

Today wireless technology grows rapidly, especially in the field of telecommunications and communications. Computer networks now widely utilizes wireless. Wireless Mesh Network is one of the method which is use to communicate computer wirelessly. One important factor in application of wireless network is how to extend wireless signal coverage. Wireless Distribution System is one way to expand the wireless network by mean of wireless interconnection of access point on the network IEEE 8022.11. This study suggests how to build a simple wireless computer network using WDS technology and describes connectivity performance and its signal coverage. The test result of connectivity performance shows that the connectivity between two computers work properly for reliability and multi SSID testing. However, the connectivity was not success in multichannel testing. Furthermore the test result of coverage shows that the range of wireless signal coverage reaches 39 meters with different circumstance room.
