Abstract

The word dihliz often becomes a narrative of the sufism in the truth to find his God. Abu Hamid al-Ghazali in his al-Munqiz; “wa ma qabla dhalika ka al-dihliz li al-salik Ilaihi” [“And whatever precedes it, it is like dihliz (threshold position) for the seeker if it (God)’]. This word is not much to glance at, not even a lot of articulate it, on the contrary the translators only focus on the expression “seeker of it” (li al-salik Ilaihi), rather than the word dihliz itself. Dihliz in articulation is “threshold position.” It is an offer of an epistem that seeks to negotiate things that are seen as contradictory. In practice, subjectivity from subject autonomy, discourse of mediation, and hybrid and decolonization of knowledge. By being accepted as an Islamic epistemology provides the foundations of insight and reconciliation to bridge different religious traditions. His ideas can serve as a model and provide the foundations for an emancipatory and pluralism. In contrast to the epistemology of Islamization of science, there is a solid barrier between Islamic scholarship and Western scholarship.

Abstract

So far, studies on Serat Primbon in Java have been focused more on the concept of petung Javanese reckoning) and mystics living among people. They are rarely connected with the awareness of Islamic symbols and values. This article unravels the close connection between Islam and Javanese wisdom in Serat Primbon dan Doa (Javanese mystical manuals and prayers). It applies Ernst Cassirer’s theory of symbol in order to unveil that connection. According to Cassirer, humans are animal symbolicum able to use symbols to communicate or convey messages. Humans absorb external cultures and adapt new cultures they develop. Serat Primbon studied in this article is an expression of the adoption and adaptation of Islamic symbols and values to the awareness of Javanese. For instance, in naming their children, they adopt names of prophets. They chant prayer formulas by way of Javanese culture and language. They connote various important events with the existence of God. In Javanese people’s awareness, symbols are created and meanings are given to activities as a manifestation of the awareness of the ultimate Being and as a form of worship to Him. In this Serat Primbon, Islamic wisdom and Javanese awareness are amalgamated to the extent that both become a distinct awareness.

Abstract

This paper is more inclined to the side of conception: how exactly Islamism and Post-Islamism is firmly held by the kyai as intellectual pesantren, not the only pesantren leader. Islamism and Post-Islamism are very consistent, transmitted, and transmitted to all communities around the pesantren, or exemplified and taught to the students in the pesantren environment. This paper also wants to highlight and describe some views of pesantren leaders who have works / ideas that are disseminated, rewritten, and can be read as intellectual products. This paper will be approached using phenomenological theory and symbolic interactionism, and the ethical procedures contained in qualitative research. As a result, based on this series of research, it is found that there is a consistent and changing pattern in the context of pesantren Islamic thought. The consistent thing is how the nationalist-religious epistemology construct that is held tehuh as the derivative legacy of the previous kyai. While that is changing is the way and the process of packaging a more modern pesantren-based scholarship study.

Abstract

Jilbab, either as a fashion or term, was new known in Indonesia in the 1980s. Although when it got opposition from the ruler, but the unstoppable flow of jilbab flooded the campuses and urban community. thus the new term appears 'shar'i jilbab' and later there is growing fashion dress called cadar. Both the shar'i jilbab or cadar, have full of meaning, importance and full of power, indicating a kind of turmoil of the rise of contemporary Islam from young people in Indonesia. This paper attempts to examine the trend of jilbab and its development to the controversial of the cadar, including what the symptoms are caused in the phenomenon. This paper also provides arguments about the dogmatic religious concepts of the veil system as a form of dress instruction in Islam or only Arab tradition.

Abstract

The image of a good ruler is always to meet the needs of his people and think about the life (fate) of his people. With this kind of leadership behavior, the people will be prosperous and peaceful and people always obey it because in the hearts of the people terpatri fame the wisdom of its leader leaders. In addition, a good ruler is not indulging his lust, avoiding disgraceful nature and attitude and avoiding unfavorable world life. Furthermore, Raja Ali Haji mentioned that the good ruler will build facilities and infrastructure in support of the achievement of the welfare of the community, reducing the occurrence of slander in society, religion maintained and custom preserved, education is noticed, law is enforced and the community is finally close to God. In the section of Raja Ali Haji detailing the characteristics of a ruling ruler, which reigns with "whip" (iron hand), has a rough temperament and has no shame. In addition, the ugly ruler does not pay attention to the welfare and tranquility of his people, especially for the common people and the poor. The image of the ugly ruler is like indulging his lust, pursuing a less than decent world life. Furthermore, the sign of the ruler is not good is to ignore the construction of facilities and infrastructure of community life, religious life abandoned and customs and culture is not maintained and society is far from God.The image of the ruler is bad and is reflected in his attitude towards upholding the main principles of power. Principles of power referred to, as there is a small treatise Raja Ali Haji, Muqaddimah fī al-Intiẓām, consists of the principles of justice, the principle of deliberation, and the principle of equality. A good ruler will uphold justice, deliberation and equality among the people. On the contrary, bad rulers are unjust, authoritarian and discriminatory.

Abstract

The radicalization of religion is a religious problem that needs to be solved. If there is no solution, religious radicalization will lead to our national divisions. Thus, it is necessary to examine the Abdurrahman Wahid and Quraish Shihab’s thought. Both figures offering a flexible, soft, and far from violent and radical Islam. The method of writing in this article is descriptive and explorative method. This paper found the conclusion that the moderate Islamic thought of Abdurrahman Wahid and Quraish Shihab is characterized by Tolerance, Compassion, plurality of interpretation and spirituality. The moderate Islamic thought of these two figures can be a deterrent to the current flow of radicalism.

Abstract

Global salafism is a new issue compared to salafism in a simple sense. Initially salafism is not as massive as it has been symptomatic in these last years. His movement remains a embodiment among intellectuals and the Islamic movement observers. From the previously documented study of literature and research data, it shows that global salafism is a dynamically transformed movement. Starting from the purification of Islamic teachings to fragmented into various branches and streams. This deversification marks global salafism as an ambiguous and fragmentative movement. Ambiguous because it is inconsistent on one type of doctrine, even in the same source they are fighting for a truth claim. While called fragmentative because the movement is fragmented into various colors so it is not easy to recognize it for sure.

Abstract

Fundamentalism Shari’ah or violence on the name of religion at this current, seem to still continue to do the whole group of Indonesian society or another. Even in some cases there are a strong shades to perpetuate such desecration. Exclusive religiousness with truth claims unilaterally still to show existence strong enough among religious groups, Muslims especially. They consider their religious understanding that they follow is a truth that is undeniable, and is considered a definite reflection from the source of religious teaching (narsisism). It is thus delivering religious communities to life of conflict vulnerable among humans, fellow adherents of religious different streams, and fellow people of different religion. in addition, understanding this model that will make the people of religion into understanding extreme religious. Religion understood as dogmas die and just take care of the afterlife and the divinity that does not have the ability to provide solutions that delight in solving problems of humanity manifested in contemporary life. This article tries to analyze the problems above by using the approach of phenomenology in sociology so that the readers able to see these problems with an objective view without losing common sense.

Abstract

Moh. Mahfud MD is an academic figure and role model that provides scientific insights for all components of citizens about the life of the nation and religion in the context of Indonesia. He is a charismatic figure that can be accepted in every class, moderate, inclusive and followed by a comprehensive analysis which always becomes a reference and responds to contemporary issues in the nation and religion. Polemic about the rise of khilafa>h in Indonesia, that the serious struggle to enforce formally Islamic law / Islamic law, has been done by the founding of our country (founding parents). In the end the agreement was to establish a nation state based on Pancasila. this agreement must be carried out consistently because it contains the values ​​and philosophical content of mîtsâqan ghalîzha (noble deal) and we must not betray it. The theory of 'political configuration' in the view of Mahfud MD is the dissemination of political energy to be able to incorporate the substantive values ​​of universal Islamic teachings into the formal law (positive law) prevailing in Indonesia. According to Moh. Mahfud MD that law is a political product, so the character of legal products is determined by the balance of political forces (political configuration) that gave birth. So Muslims should be able to sit in government institutions, both legislative, executive and judiciary.

Abstract

Era digital membuat semua hal menjadi serba mudah, termasuk dalam hal ini kajian Islam. Arrahmah.com menjadi satu situs yang menyita perhatian publik dalam beberapa tahun ini, karena kajian-kajiannya yang massif dan memiliki warganet fanatik. Kajian keislaman mengenai al-Quran dan hadis pada situs tersebut bergerak dengan mengusung seruan kembali kepada al-Quran dan Hadis serta mengusung purifikasi dan jihad dalam konten-konten beritanya. Kajian dalam artikel ini berangkat dari dua pertanyaan berikut: Pertama, bagaimanakah trens kajian agama di dunia internet? Kedua, bagaimana model kajian Islam, khususnya di www.arrahmah.com dan bagaimana resepsi masyarakat terhadapnya? Dalam menganalisis hasil dari data yang didapatkan penulis menggunakan teori Manuel Castells yang terangkum dalam bukunya The Rise of the Network Society, terutama kaitannya dengan masalah weak ties, strong ties,dan multiple ties.
