Abstract

The tourism development in Bali has put large environmental pressure on the island. This research critically examines the application of local wisdom values as cultural philosophical tenets in terms of sustainable tourism activities. It employs qualitative rapid appraisal approach and literature reviews in seeking the environmental issues accompanying the tourism activities, critically examining the causes of these problems and to gain better understanding of these problems in relation to Tri Hita Karana in Ubud District, Bali. Results show that the largest environmental problems in the island is waste. The waste is generated from the community activities regarding traditional ceremonies as well as tourist activities. It turns out that the is paradox in the practice of Tri Hita Karana in the context of sustainable tourism. Such concept that seeks to maintain the harmony of man's relationship with God, others and nature has not been able to necessarily overcome the waste problem Keywords: sustainable tourism, local wisdom, Tri Hita Karana

Abstract

Characteristics of the Batukaras Mangrove Forest as a potential ecotourism area in Pangandaran Regency. The Mangrove Forest Ecotourism Area, which is located in Sanghiangkalang Hamlet, Batukaras Village, Cijulang District, Pangandaran Regency, has the potential to be used as a tourist destination object. However, with the existing conditions and potential, the management of the area is still not optimal and has not yet developed. The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics and potential of mangrove forests as ecotourism areas and their development by involving local communities. The method in this research is descriptive method with data collection techniques through field observations, interviews, documentation studies and literature studies. The stages in this study are 1) data inventory 2) data collection; 3) Data analysis and synthesis stage. The results of this study indicate the natural characteristics consisting of three types of mangroves and fauna as well as the characteristics of human cultivation in the form of mangrove seeds and have potential as ecotourism areas: natural panorama, socio-economic potential, interesting activities that can be carried out in the Batukaras Mangrove Forest Area. Abstract

This research was carried to develop and test Web-GIS worksheet to attain basic competences in geography learning as researched in Class XI IPS in SMAK 3 Bina Bakti Bandung. This research implemented 4D model. The instruments that were used are expert appraisal sheet through the validation of aspect of media and content, percentage of practicality, student performance test, and response questionnaire. The result of this study is the Web-GIS worksheet that is able to be implemented tp support the attainment of Basic Competencies 3.6 and 4.6. Validity of worksheet is indicated by content validity of 91.66% and media validity of 92.5%. Worksheet practicality is proven by 93.75% implementation percentage with students’ performance score as many as 87.83%. Through response questionnaire, there are as many as 88.98% positive responses toward worksheet’s didactic, constructive, and technical requirements, together with basic competencies attainment indicators. Findings from this research indicate that the developed Web-GIS worksheet is valid and practically able to be implemented in geography learning to attain basic competencies of local culture mapping. Abstract

Floods have the potential to threaten human life and destroy property including buildings. Kebon Baru Village is one of the villages that often experiences floods. This research focuses on the Level of Flood Hazard in Kebon Baru Village. The method used is descriptive quantitative with overlay analysis techniques. The parameters used are altitude, distance from the river, land use, and buildings. Based on the results, Kebon Baru Village has three levels of flood hazard, namely low, moderate and high. Low level has 4564 buildings, moderate level has 1060 building and high level has 405 buildings. The level of flood hazard found in Kebon Baru Village is more influenced by the height and distance from Ci Liwung. The lower altitude and the closer to Ci Liwung, the higher of flood hazard level, on the contrary, the higher altitude and the farther distance, the lower flood hazard level. Abstract

River tourism is one of the river restoration efforts undertaken by several countries. Ci Liwung is the most polluted river in DKI Jakarta Province and is one of the dumping sites (water back landscape), in fact has tourism potential, namely river tourism and slum tourism. This study used a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires and descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that young people have a low interest of 59.3%. Based on the indicators measuring interest, namely transactional interest, referential interest, and preferential interest, they are included in the low category, while explorative interest is included in the high category. Viewed based on the tourism component, inadequate tourist amenities both in terms of quality and quantity, different tourist attractions and accessibility, namely the distance between the location of residence and tourist sites is the cause of the low interest of young people in river tourism and slum tourism in Ci Liwung Bidara Cina – Manggarai. Abstract

This study aims to assess the erosion hazard level in the Wairutung Watershed. This study uses the results of overlaying land use maps, slope maps, and soil types maps to generate the Land unit, which is the unit of analysis. Done using a computer-based Geographic Information System (GIS) with the ArcGIS program integrated with the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) model. The sum of the results of the rating of the parameters then determines the class of vulnerability. The results obtained from this study indicate the division of 4 categories of landslide hazards consisting of a very light course with an area of 2900,865 ha spread over land units with alluvial soil types. The medium type, with a total area of 3683.285 ha, is distributed over land units with podzolic soil types. Heavy type with a total area of 1458.367 ha and the whole place is spread over land units with podzolic and cytosol soil types. The erosion hazard level is hefty, with a total area of 421.97 ha, and is spread over land units with podzolic and cytosol soil types. Keywords: Erosion, Vulnerability, and USLE

Abstract

Disaster education through socialization activities at SMK Negeri Jenawi can increase disaster knowledge that is sufficient to deal with landslides. This study aims to determine the level students knowledge of landslides and analyze the influence of socialization activities on students knowledge of landslides in facing landslides. The method used in this research is quantitative with correlation research design. The results of this study showed that 1) students perceptions of disaster socialization activities were in the strongly agree category. 2) students knowledge in landslide disaster and how to deal with it has a very good category with the percentage of correct answers above 80%. 3) the correlation of disaster socialization activities to level of knowledge of students at SMK Negeri Jenawi has a value of 0,881 and a significance value of 0.002 is smaller than significance level of 5% (0.002 < 0.05). Socialization and follow-up activities related to disaster in students at school. Keywords : Socialization, Knowledge, and Disasters
