Abstract

 The aim of this research was to know the form or model of literature autonomy in the novel Asmaraloka by Danarto. It discussed about the literature autonomy form or model of this novel. It was qualitative descriptive and used literature review. Based on the analysis, the literature autonomy in Asmaraloka was shown in the author’s independency in creating chronic, that was plotting which was in general contradicting the reality and the story background which represented strong literature autonomy.

Abstract

This research was a classroom action research. The data collection included observation, interviews, tests, document analysis, and questionnaires. The validity of the data was measured using triangulation of the data sources and data collection methods. It was quantitative and qualitative research which applied descriptive statistical and descriptive comparative techniques. The results revealed that learning process using think pair share (TPS) cooperative learning model improved students’ motivation and skill to write narrative texts. From the first cycle, students’ motivation to write narrative texts reached 70. The second cycle reached 78%. And, the third cycle reached 90%. In pre-action, 8 students (25%) reached the mastery standard. Nineteen students (63%) succeeded in cycle I, 21 students (70%) succeeded in cycle II, and 23 students (77%) succeeded in cycle III. The average score of students' narrative text writing skills on pre-action was 64, on cycle I was 66, on cycle II was 71, and on cycle III was 76.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe student’s skill enhancement in writing fable texts using cooperative learning model of imagination circles and pictures in SMP Patra Dharma 2 Balikpapan, VIII A students, school year 2015/2016. It was a two cycle classroom action research. It used fable assessment rubric sheets, participant observation sheets, lesson plan observation sheet, teaching activity observation sheet, student activities’ observation sheet, and field notes. The result showed that the average value of pre-cycle was 69. It revealed that it did not reach the minimum mastery standard in fable text writing which were 78. Thirteen out of 36 students got minimum scores. In the first cycle after the action given, thirty one students reached the minimum mastery standard. Their average value was 83. The average value of the second cycle was 92. It showed a very satisfactory result with 100% completeness percentage. It concluded that the cooperative learning model implementation of circle imagination and pictures as instructional media could increase the ability of VIII-A students of SMP Patra Dharma 2 Balikpapan school year 2015/2016 in writing fable text.

Abstract

This paper dealt with students’ problem in the teaching of reading comprehension in elementary school as there were many factors involved. One of those factors was that most of the students were not interested in reading activity because they often found uninteresting materials. Therefore, the researcher wanted to give an interesting lesson in order to make the students more enthusiastic in the learning process. The researcher used picture story as a teaching aid in teaching reading comprehension. The purpose of this study was to know whether there were significant differences in students’ reading comprehension using and without using picture story. The study focused on fifth grade students of SDN 034 Samarinda. It applied Top-Down Reading Model Theory. The design of this study was an experimental design that examined the differences of two sets of data, the experimental group (students who are taught using picture story) and the control group (students who are taught without using picture story). The result of the study revealed that there were significant differences between teaching reading comprehension with and without using picture story.

Abstract

This paper aimed to reveal and describe the intrinsic and extrinsic structures depicted in Bungkun story of Dayak Ngaju people, Central Kalimantan. The problem that arose in this research was limited to the analysis of Bungkun’s character. It used structuralism and oral literature theories to analyze the cultural values, belief, ingenuity, and characters’ exemplification in the story of Bungkun. This research used qualitative method and descriptive analytical techniques. It discussed the story of Dayak Ngaju folklore that brought many values of good characters, exemplification, and advices that shaped the characters of the local community better and made their personal and social life qualified. It showed that Bungkun was an ordinary human who had a unique character in living his life and ingenuity in dealing with his poverty so that Bungkun became a role model for Ngaju people.

Abstract

It was interesting to study literary works containing local language vocabulary because it showed its community life. The goal of this study was to describe the influence of cultural background on the use of languages in short stories of Antara Bali and Balige by Cesillia Ces, Pastu karya Oka Rusmini, Baminantu by Sastri Yunizarti Bakry, dan Lali Panggora by Saut Poltak Tambunan. This research used sociolinguistic approach. The researcher collected the data by documenting the local language in Antara Bali and Balige by Cesillia Ces, Pastu karya Oka Rusmini, Baminantu by Sastri Yunizarti Bakry, dan Lali Panggora by Saut Poltak Tambunan. The data collection had a correlation with the social cultural concept in the stories. It revealed that cultural backgrounds influenced the use of language, such as vocabulary and terms of address.

Abstract

5 years old kid is the golden age of sensitive periods. One that developed was the pragmatic function of the language used. The development of these functions is in line with their physical, mental, intellectual, and social development. This research is related to the development of children's language function, with case examples to Azza Aqila Jihan Syuasabitha (Jihan). Data collection in this study is used observation techniques. The subject of this study is the author's own child. This study aims to describe the development of Jihan's speech as a child that is 5 year old based on the grouping of language functions according to M.A.K Halliday. The results showed that the child was able to apply the overall function of language used that is instrumental, regulatory/dogmatic, interactional, personal, heuristic, imaginative, and representational. The function of language use that is the most rapidly growing is function imaginative. The achievement is influenced by biological factors (parents who have good language skills) and social environment (at home, school and others).

Abstract

This study aimed to increase the activity and the learning outcome of writing fabel using Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model in grade VIII-C of Smp Negeri 5 Tenggarong. It was conducted in three cycles and each cycle consisted of four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The result showed that the use of STAD cooperative learning model in the learning of writing fable could improve grade VIII-C SMP Negeri 5 Tenggarong students’ activity and learning outcomes in academic year 2016/2017.
