Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the position of female characters in Bunga by Korrie Layun Rampan . It focused on the role and characteristics of female characters, both traditional and modern women in Bunga . This research used descriptive-qualitative method and feminism theory . In addition, it applied descriptive analysis techniques to describe the data . Analytical technique is used to determine the meaning of the story content of the research object . The results of this study illustrated that the position of women in Bunga was elevated: (1) Bunga was an objective and realistic figure of inland woman who behaved according to customs, (2) as the daughter of male village elder, Bunga personally did not rely on her parents’ status, and (3) Bunga represented a future-oriented person .

Abstract

                                                            AbstrakWilayah perbatasan yang dikepung oleh tiga bahasa, yaitu bahasa daerah, nasional, dan negara tetangga menggambarkan kemultibahasaan masyarakat di wilayah tersebut. Pemilihan suatu bahasa oleh masyarakat perbatasan dapat mencerminkan sikap atau pandangan masyarakat terhadap bahasa tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemilihan bahasa dan sikap masyarakat perbatasan Long Apari terhadap tiga bahasa yang ada di wilayah tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan masyarakat Long Apari memiliki sikap positif terhadap bahasa daerah dan Indonesia. Sikap positif tersebut ditunjukkan dengan dominasi penggunaan bahasa daerah pada ranah-ranah keluarga dan masyarakat. Sementara itu, penggunaan bahasa Indonesia tercermin dalam ranah-ranah pekerjaan, pendidikan, pemerintahan, dan keagamaan. Hal berbeda ditunjukkan pada bahasa negara tetangga yang disikapi oleh masyarakat Long Apari dengan sangat tidak positif. Penggunaan bahasa negara tetangga didominasi pada ranah-ranah tertentu, seperti ranah perdagangan, jual beli, dan transaksi.Kata Kunci: sikap bahasa, wilayah perbatasan, Long Apari                                                          AbstractA border area portrays multilingual people surrounded by three languages (local, national, and foreign languages). The language selection of multilingual border residents can reflect the language attitude. The aim of this study is to determine the language attitude and the language selection of Long Apari people on those three languages. The study uses quantitative descriptive approach. The result shows that Long Apari people have a positive language attitude on a local language (Aoheng) and the national language (Bahasa Indonesia). The local language is dominant in family and community domains. Bahasa Indonesia is used in work, education, government, and religion domains. On the contrary, Long Apari people have a negative language attitude on the foreign language (Melayu Malaysia). They use it for trading and transaction domains.Keywords: language attitude, border area, Long Apari

Abstract

This research aims to decribe phonological variation in Melayu Kutai Language in Kutai Kartanegara Regency. In this research, the researcher uses qualitative-descriptive methods, transcripts the data phonetically, and then classifies and analyses the data as well. It consists of three steps that are the provision of data, data analysis, and presentation of the result. The researcher applies identity methods, that are articulatory phonetic and referential identity methods, followed by a classifying technique to sort out the determinants and all subsequent techniques in the data analysis. This research is conducted in Tenggarong, Kembang Janggut, and Kotabangun. The results shows that variations between phonemes a and |, variations between phonemes i and e, variations between phonemes u and o, variations between phonemes u and O, and variations between phonemes i and E.

Abstract

                                                          AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui citra wanita Banjar dalam cerpen “Episode Durian” karya Nailiya Nikmah. Penelitian mengenai citra wanita Banjar dalam karya sastra dilakukan karena masih sedikitnya penelitian yang membahasnya.Citra wanita Banjar yang dianalisis dalam cerpen “Episode Durian” ini adalah semua wujud gambaran atau lukisan mental spritual dan tingkah laku keseharian yang terekspresikan oleh wanita dalam cerita. Metode yang digunakandalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil analisis  engungkapkan bahwa citra wanita Banjar yang terdapat dalam cepern “Episode Durian” ini adalah menjaga kesucian, mencintai suami, taat pada suami, memiliki akhlak yang baik, dan sosok istri yang salihah.Kata kunci: citra, wanita, cerpen.                                                            AbstractThe aim of this study is to find out Banjarese women’s images in a short story “Episode Durian” by Nailiya Nikmah. The study about Banjarese women’s images in literature work is only a few. The images analyzed in this short story are the women’s spiritual and mental descriptions and daily activities. The result shows that the images of Banjarese women are keeping their chastity, loving and obeying their husband, having good attitude, and being a pious wife.Keywords: image, women, short story

                                                     AbstrakTujuan tulisan ini mendeskripsikan lokalitas dalam puisi-puisi penyair Jawa Timur. Kajian ini menggunakan teori stilistika dan dibantu teori hermeneutika. Sumber data tulisan ini adalah puisipuisi karya penyair Jawa Timur yang terdapat dalam Surabaya Post. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagian besar puisi karya penyair Jawa Timur membicangkan lokalitas perkotaan dan perdesaan dengan gaya bahasa sinis, sarkasme, dan metafora. Lokalitas dalam karya Zawawi Imron merupakan lokalitas yang muncul dari alam bawah sadar, sedangkan lokalitas dalam karya penyair lainnya cenderung hasil pengucapan yang disadari.Kata kunci: lokalitas, puisi penyair Jawa Timur, Surabaya Post                                                     AbstractThis study aims at describing the locality in the poems of East Java’s poets. It uses stylistic and hermeneutic theories. The source of the data is the poems of East Java‘s poets in Surabaya Post. The result reveals that most of the poems are about the locality in the urban and rural areas by applying cynical, sarcastic, and  etaphorical figures of speech. Zawawi Imron’s work shows the locality of the unconcious expressions, while the others are apt to show the result of the conscious expressions.Keywords : local wisdom, poems of East Java’s poets, Surabaya Post

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe student’s skill enhancement in writing fable texts using cooperative learning model of imagination circles and pictures in SMP Patra Dharma 2 Balikpapan, VIII A students, school year 2015/2016. It was a two cycle classroom action research. It used fable assessment rubric sheets, participant observation sheets, lesson plan observation sheet, teaching activity observation sheet, student activities’ observation sheet, and field notes. The result showed that the average value of pre-cycle was 69. It revealed that it did not reach the minimum mastery standard in fable text writing which were 78. Thirteen out of 36 students got minimum scores. In the first cycle after the action given, thirty one students reached the minimum mastery standard. Their average value was 83. The average value of the second cycle was 92. It showed a very satisfactory result with 100% completeness percentage. It concluded that the cooperative learning model implementation of circle imagination and pictures as instructional media could increase the ability of VIII-A students of SMP Patra Dharma 2 Balikpapan school year 2015/2016 in writing fable text.

Abstract

This paper dealt with students’ problem in the teaching of reading comprehension in elementary school as there were many factors involved. One of those factors was that most of the students were not interested in reading activity because they often found uninteresting materials. Therefore, the researcher wanted to give an interesting lesson in order to make the students more enthusiastic in the learning process. The researcher used picture story as a teaching aid in teaching reading comprehension. The purpose of this study was to know whether there were significant differences in students’ reading comprehension using and without using picture story. The study focused on fifth grade students of SDN 034 Samarinda. It applied Top-Down Reading Model Theory. The design of this study was an experimental design that examined the differences of two sets of data, the experimental group (students who are taught using picture story) and the control group (students who are taught without using picture story). The result of the study revealed that there were significant differences between teaching reading comprehension with and without using picture story.

Abstract

AbstrakStudi tentang queer sedang berkembang pesat di dunia. Namun, dalam konteks Indonesia penelitian ini cenderung disalahpahami. Padahal dalam bidang sastra banyak karya sastra yang mengangkat persoalan yang dihadapi oleh kelompok ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap strategi penulis Indonesia, khususnya Djenar Maesa Ayu dalam cerpen “Saya di Mata Sebagian Orang dalam mengangkat permasalahan queer di Indonesia. Metode yang akan digunakan adalah matriks heteroseksualitas dan teori queer Judith Butler sebagai pisau analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cerpen SdMSO melucuti nuansa gender dalam kata sebagai perlawanan terhadap wacana bentukan heteronormativitas dengan wacana yang mendenaturalisasinya. Strategi ini dimaksudkan untuk meredam resistansi dari sidang pembaca dalam lingkungan yang belum cukup kondusif untuk membicarakan teori queer. Berkaitan dengan cara kerja matriks heteroseksualitas, tokoh aku dalam cerpen ini mampu mengatasi tekanan psikologis yang dihadapi dari isu di sekitarnya berkat solidaritas antar anggota queer. Hukuman sosial berupa isu malah semakin menguatkan keyakinan akan identitas gendernya tersebut.Kata Kunci: ketaksaan gender, queer, Judith Butler, matriks heteroseksual. AbstractThe study of queer is developing rapidly in the world. However in Indonesian context, this study tend to missunderstood. Yet in literture field, there is many object that raise issues that this group face. This study aims to reveal Indonesia writer strategy’s, especially Djenar Maesa Ayu in Saya di Mata Sebagian Orang shortstory in order to discuss queer issues in Indonesia. Method that used is heterosexsuality matriks and  Judith Butler’s queer theory as analysis tools. The result shows that SdMSO remove gender nuance in words as a struggle against heteronormativity discourse with another discourse that denaturalized it. This strategi aims to drown out the reader resistence in environment that not conducive yet to discuss queer theory. Related to heterosexsuality matrix, the character in this shortstory be able to overcome psychological pressure that the character face thanks to queer intragroup solidarity. Social punishment like issues instead more empowering the character confidence to his/him gender identity.Keywords: gender ambiguity, queer, Judith Butler, heterosexual matrix.
