Abstract

Islam is the most comprehensive religion, not only teaching and educating regarding the relationship between humans and their gods, but it also teaches how humans relate to humans. So special and effective education is needed as an effort to achieve harmony among people, one of which is social education. The material for this special message can be taken from the main sources of Islamic teachings, including the Hadith of the Prophet, so the purpose of this research is to describe the Values of social education, it is hoped that the community will be able to know and understand, practice as well as make their values truly embedded in themselves so that they become one personality in the framework of fostering an Islamic social life. The method used is a literature study with a sociological approach to suit the context. After all the data is collected, then reduced and its contents are analyzed to fit the relevant theme, and finally concluded. Abstract

Reflection has a vital contribution to improving teachers’ teaching performance as well as their professional growth. Therefore, this research investigates how prospective teachers apply reflection activities in teaching and learning and the impacts of the implementation of an independent curriculum during teaching practice program activities. Using qualitative research, the researchers employed a group interview consisting of two participants in each group. The participants were six prospective teachers who accomplished the teaching practice program. Three types of reflections were employed, i.e., reflection-before-lesson, reflection-during-lesson, and reflection-after-lesson. The results indicate that teachers’ reflective practice leads to improvement in their teaching process and builds engagement with the students. The insights of the research results are further discussed.

Abstract

The purpose of learning evaluation is to measure students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and science literacy skills. However, many challenges hinder this process, such as low-level questions, lack of question variety, student dishonesty, and poor reading comprehension and understanding of questions. These factors reduce students' reasoning abilities and learning outcomes. Therefore, this study aims to develop and test the feasibility of an evaluation package that emphasizes HOTS and science literacy skills in the topic of metabolism. Metabolism is a difficult topic for students because it covers a wide range of complex and abstract concepts. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which was limited to the Development stage. The research stages consisted of needs analysis, design and development, as well as product validation and revision. Data collection was done through interviews and validation questionnaires and analyzed using quantitative and qualitative data. The results of this study were two packages of HOTS questions (A and B) with aspects of science literacy skills, each containing 20 questions with 100% HOTS proportion and five different question formats. The questions were printed on A4 paper and intended to be used as daily test assessments. The results of the validation showed that both packages were "very feasible" with a percentage of 91.6% (Package A) and 92% (Package B). Therefore, the evaluation package developed was suitable for limited testing after revision.

Abstract

Understanding concept material is the basic material for someone to solve problems. The importance of understanding concepts because it is useful in learning, thinking, reading and communicating. This study was conducted to analyze the improvement of mathematical concept understanding ability of experimental class students after using the CUPs learning model. This research was conducted in class VIII Junior high school with 30 experimental class students as research subjects. This research design uses one group ptetest-posttest design. Data collection techniques used include observation, interviews and tests. Initial data analysis used normality test, homogeneity test, and mean similarity test. Meanwhile, the final data analysis used Paired Sample T-test and N-gain test. The results showed that the mathematical concept understanding ability of experimental class students increased after using the CUPs learning model with an average N-gain value of 0.63 in the moderate category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the CUPs learning model is able to provide an increase in students' mathematical concept understanding ability.
