Abstract

Communication these days has taken a huge turn to depend extremely on the internet. Software such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and the general social media receive about a billion active users. This demonstrates how most communication has relied on the internet. However, this approach does not serve well under some conditions. Firstly, places without internet access suffer greatly from multimedia messaging. They are either unable to initiate a conversation at all or suffer a relatively slower user experience even when they message people in close proximity. Furthermore, the cost incurred in messaging people over these platforms with people nearby could be avoided should the communication be over a local area network rather than depending on the services of an Internet Service Provider. This project investigates the design and implementation of an efficient communication system for devices near each other that relies on any local area network that a particular device is connected to. Such targeted networks include mobile Wi-Fi and cable connections. This work designed and implemented a Local Area Network based Messaging Platform, capable of working on all local networks regardless of being cable or wireless. The system is extensible, allowing for a node to re-broadcast the network onto other networks it might be connected to and works without internet access, allowing the sending and sharing of text and media files.

Abstract

With the increasing prevalence of video games comes innovations that aim to evolve them. Cloud gaming is poised as the next phase of gaming. It enables users to play video games on any internet-enabled device. Such improvement could, therefore, enhance the processing power of existing devices and solve the need to spend large amounts of money on the latest gaming equipment. However, others argue that it may be far from being practically functional. Since cloud gaming places dependency on networks, new issues emerge. In relation, this paper is a review of the networking perspective of cloud gaming. Specifically, the paper analyzes its issues and challenges along with possible solutions. In order to accomplish the study, a literature review was performed. Results show that there are numerous issues and challenges regarding cloud gaming networks. Generally, cloud gaming has problems with its network quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE). The poor QoS and QoE of cloud gaming can be linked to unsatisfactory latency, bandwidth, delay, packet loss, and graphics quality. Moreover, the cost of providing the service and the complexity of implementing cloud gaming were considered challenges. For these issues and challenges, solutions were found. The solutions include lag or latency compensation, compression with encoding techniques, client computing power, edge computing, machine learning, frame adaption, and GPU-based server selection. However, these have limitations and may not always be applicable. Thus, even if solutions exist, it would be beneficial to analyze the networking side of cloud gaming further.

Abstract

Indramayu is one of the regencies in West Java Province that produces food crop production in the agricultural and plantation sectors. Many people work in the agricultural sector, one of which is by growing vegetables on their land. Planting vegetables on land in the Indramayu area often experiences problems, for example the land used is not in accordance with the type of vegetables grown. Some farmers have difficulty in evaluating land due to their lack of understanding of the land to be planted so that farmers rely on the system of planting habits that they usually do. The wrong land selection can result in energy and financial losses used for maintenance. Vegetables will develop imperfectly, even vegetables can die because of the inappropriateness of the land used. This study aims to assist farmers in determining what types of vegetable crops can be planted on their land using the k-means clustering method. There are 7 data criteria used for processing k-means so that later it can produce output a recommendation of vegetable types that can be planted by farmers according to the criteria they enter into the system. The results of this study produce an expert system that can provide information about vegetables selected according to the criteria selected by each user and with this system, ordinary people can find out how the selection of types of vegetables is practically on the land to be planted with vegetables.

Abstract

Abstract

The growth of frameworks for web application development is very rapid, especially on the back side (server) of web development or what is commonly called the backend. Several programming languages offer frameworks that have their own advantages, such as the Python programming language which offers a web application development framework, namely Django. It is equipped with the fast development, fast processing, and scalability. The data collection process was carried out by researching several related sources regarding the modules in the Django framework. The research process was carried out by finding sources of information about the Django framework to support the design of the Torche Education class registration application. Sources of information are collected to become a reference for application development. The Torche Education class registration application was built during the internship process at the company as it is concerned with developing the application according to predetermined working hours. It started by conducting research on the modules in the Django framework for developing registration applications and then followed by implementing the framework and integrating the application into several platforms such as Google Drive, Discord, and Gmail. Based on the application development above, the backend framework technology has been implemented in Python programming, namely Django. The results and benefits of the research can be useful for facilitating related parties in the process of recruiting students for class registration and making it easier for users to get fast information.

Abstract

Organic food supply chains are faced with heavy pressure to increase their output to meet the global demand. This confronts various challenges including scandals, adulteration, contamination, and growing regulations. As an alternative to third-party certification, Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS) are popular community-based quality assurance system that integrates the social verification context into the organic certification process. As PGS is a local community-driven system, it has inherent limitations in the scalability of reaching consensus as the size of participants increases. The organic food industry has the potential to grow globally therefore, an appropriate scalable consensus mechanism is needed to deal with community-level consensus as an alternative to the existing PGS system. Blockchain architecture with hybrid consensus mechanisms seems to be the potential solution to address the trust and scalability issues in the organic food supply chain. This paper proposes a socially inspired hybrid blockchain architecture for the organic food supply chain to address the scalability issues via hybridizing two consensuses’ mechanisms with the combined advantages of Proof of Authority (PoA) and Federated Byzantine Agreement (FBA). In the proposed architecture, much eminent aspect of community-level trust is integrated into the consensus process. Furthermore, this paper presents a concept-level validation as a qualitative analysis of the proposed architecture based on experts’ opinions. Concept-level validation of the proposed model acknowledged that, in the context of social verification, the credibility of the organic products would be enhanced, and hybridization of the consensuses would mitigate the scalability issues.
