Abstract

In practice, a language is a tool for conveying messages from the articulator to the auditor, requiring adjustments in carrying out their duties. Thus, the essence of the language process is how messages can be conveyed effectively and efficiently by using the method that is considered the best. Language is constantly developing and changing. These developments and changes occur due to various factors, such as social, economic, and cultural dynamics. Using two languages side by side can cause language distortion in practice. The problem emphasized is the shift in the Betawi dialect in the family sphere, especially the Betawi descendants who live in Jakarta. This study aims to determine the form of the shift in the Betawi dialect. Data was provided using a questionnaire and random interviews explicitly aimed at several Betawi communities in the family realm. Then the data is described phenomenologically by looking at the basic principles of speech components as a reference for the analysis. From the research that has been done, it was found that the dialect shift that occurred in the Betawi community occurred in the generation of children and parents. This shift in form can be identified in the Betawi vocabulary, which shifts to another vocabulary. Another language which Indonesian dominates has indirectly become the second language of the Betawi people. Meanwhile, the causes of the dialect shift in the Betawi community include the influence of language variations and the lack of loyalty of the local community. This condition must be answered immediately, and a solution sought for the great good.

Abstract

The aim of the present research is to unveil how capitalism reading can be perceived by a Cultural Materialist Reading in the selected novel Leviathan. Paul Auster is one of those writers who is always multitasking. His stories are never about just one thing, and you can never be sure what's going on behind the scenes until you turn the last page. To put in other words, while a literary work may serve to practice the dominant ideology, it may produce a contrary dissident reading. This possibility mostly is based on the inner contradictions of any literary text. This is the common ground of cultural materialists. In Leviathan, Paul Auster has skillfully exhibited such a verbal game to represent his own concerns regarding the subject of the identity, ideology and power caught in the novels, leading to a “dissident” reading which is potentially opposed and threatening to those social oppressive norms which the protagonists “Benjamin Sachs” are suffered.

Abstract

The problem in this study is that learning still uses the lecture method, there are still elementary schools that have not used audio-visual media, there are still educators who cannot operate audio-visual media, there are still students who have grades below the KKM. The aims of this study were (1) to analyze the characteristics of discovery learning-based audio-visual media to improve thematic learning outcomes of Class III Cluster IV Gadingrejo students and (2) to analyze the effectiveness of discovery learning-based audio-visual media to improve thematic learning outcomes of Class III Cluster IV students Gadingrejo. The type of this research is Borg & Gall Modification Budiyono's development research (R&D). The population in this study was all Class III Cluster IV Gadingrejo students with a total of 176 students. The subjects of this study amounted to 21 students. The results of the study can be seen from the differences in thematic learning outcomes in the experimental class. The average pretest score for the experimental class was 54.28 and the posttest average score for the experimental class was 79.04. Likewise, it can be seen from the average value of N-Gain or increased knowledge of the experimental class is 0.4642 which is in the "Moderate" category, meaning that the development of audio-visual media based on discovery learning is effective for improving the thematic learning outcomes of Class III Students of Cluster IV Gadingrejo. The tcount results obtained a value of 3.7415 while t table (5%; n-1) is 2.0860, these results can be interpreted that the results of students' posttests are better than the pretest results of students who study using audio-visual media based on discovery learning.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the level of effectiveness of applying blended learning-based learning models by utilizing ICT technology (Technology 4.0) to improve students' critical thinking skills in normal news life while maintaining adaptation to the industrial revolution 4.0. This behavior has positioned students to carry out blended learning that is oriented towards the continuous use of technology 4.0. This new habit encourages students to have a competitive level of adaptation in the more complex era of the industrial revolution, and students must also have adaptations with technology to overcome problems that exist in the current era So the researchers made a concern to instill and strengthen the skills and abilities needed by students to face the Industrial Revolution 4.O era in the current era. In discussing this research, Critical thinking skills are selected as skills that are needed by every individual student today, because Critical thinking skills enable students to involve various aspects and tools needed in learning and through a systematic thinking process. Researchers are trying to find a method that is appropriate to the current era, namely blended learning. Blended learning which has been implemented by the educational institution where this research takes place is a collaborative learning method between conventional methods and modern methods (technology 4.O). This method is implemented by implementing several cycles and meeting parts. The methods used and those given in developing critical thinking are combining problem solving methods with video, blogging, YouTube and zoom meeting. Thus, students will learn something different and new in the implementation of their learning. This will spur students to think critically. Thus, students will have optimally developed critical thinking skills and students will be able to adapt quickly to the current era of the industrial revolution 4.0.

Abstract

This research described the textual dimension with Teun A. Van Dijk's model on the online news text discourse. The taken theme in the text was the contradiction against the realization of the pilgrimage to Indonesia. The data of the research consisted of utterances and dialogs on online media, such as Tempo.com, Cnnindonesia.com, and Republika.co.id. On the other hand, the data source was the online news page in the form of news discourse about the contradiction against the new regulations of the hajj pilgrimage by Indonesia's government. The applied method and data collection techniques were content analysis methods with the critical discourse analysis model of Teun A. Van Dijk. The results showed that the news portals of Tempo.com, Cnnindonesia.com, and Republika.co.id had the same themes about the news on contradiction against the new hajj pilgrimage rules in Indonesia. The news dominated most analyses in this Teun A. Van Dijk's model, starting from (1) the macrostructure, (2) the superstructure, and (3) the microstructure. The undetermined elements of the news were rhetoric microstructures, such as metaphors and expressions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of translation shifts in Informative text that highlights Non-Fungible Token (NFT) issue. The theory used is Catford (1965) that stated there are two categories of shift namely level shift and category shift. The realization of descriptive qualitative method is seen on this data since the output is to emphasize the application of shift in each data. For analyzing data, it is used Miles and Huberman interactive mode to simplify the data presented. There have been twelve sentences which consist of several segments to be revealed its translation shifts. After each segment analyzed, it is found that all of translation shifts as proposed by Catford (1965) are applied, they are level shift, structure shift, class shift, unit/rank shift, and intra-system shift. The dominance found in structure shift because it is known that the language system in Indonesian as SL and English as TL is differed. The second position is by unit/rank shift. The data finding shows that there are several segments level up, but there is also changed in lower rank. The next one is in intra-system shift. The finding shows that the category of this shift is related to the tenses, plurality, and gerund after preposition which doesn’t occur in SL but exists in TL that takes part for this category. Meanwhile, the class shift is in the second lower rank because mostly, there is always equivalence of the segments used in the data. The least category is found in level shift where the lexicon is translated to grammar unit in TL.
