Abstract

Mathematical communication is the ability of a person in terms of explaining an algorithm and unique ways to solve problems, the ability of students to construct, and explain the presentation of real word phenomena in graphs, word/sentence, equation, tables or the ability of students to give assumstions about geometry image. Learning strategies that support mathematical communication skills is: Small-Group-Work Strategy, Group, Cooverative Learning, Think-Pair-Share Strategy, and Think-Talk-Write Strategy.

Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this study is whether there is the influence of logical-mathematical intelligence on the learning outcomes of class VII students of Padangsidimpuan MTsN 2? The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of logical-mathematical intelligence on the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students of Padangsidimpuan 2 MTsN.This research includes the type of quantitative research using the Ex Post Facto method. The population in this study were VII grade students of MtsN 2 Padangsidimpuan which numbered 211 students while the sample was all students who took the test of Logical-Mathematical Intelligence which amounted to 211 people. The data collection method used is a test with data analysis techniques namely t test.The results showed that: There was a significant influence between logical-mathematical intelligence and the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students of Padangsidimpuan MTsN 2 as evidenced by the results of the t test of 17.137 greater than the t table of 1.98 (17.137 1.98) which means there are differences in learning outcomes of students who have high logical-mathematical intelligence with students who have low logical-mathematical intelligence. So that it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between Logical-Mathematical intelligence variables and mathematics learning outcomes where students who have high logical-mathematical intelligence, the learning outcomes are high and vice versa.

Abstract

This study aims to describe errors made by students in solving mathematical problems in the pythagorean theorem material. This research is a descriptive study with the object of research is class VIII-3 of Junior High School (Padangsidimpuan Middle School-7) T.A 2018/2019 which amounted to 21 students with heterogeneous levels of ability. The instrument collects data using essay tests. Data analysis is done by reducing data in the form of paragraphs and images, then drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the common mistakes made by students in this study were more on type-1 errors, namely understanding the concept of errors, followed by type-3 errors, namely units of measurement of writing errors, then followed by type-2. error which is a calculation error, and type-4 error is a mathematical procedure error.

Abstract

In learning mathematics the questioning skills are very much needed in order to carry out the teaching and learning process in the classroom. Skills to ask, for a teacher is a very important skill to master. The skill of asking is an integral part in order to improve the quality of learning processes and outcomes, which is also part of the success in instructional management and classroom management. Through the skill of asking the teacher is able to detect obstacles in the process of thinking among students and can improve and improve the learning process among students. The questions that are conveyed must pay attention to the components, the skill component to ask. Therefore the questioning skills can be divided into two groups, namely basic questioning skills and advanced questioning skills. Basic questioning skills are: (1) Clear and concise, (2) Provision of references, (3) Concentration, (4) Transfer of turn, (5) Distribution, (6) Giving time to think (7) Giving guidance. Advanced questioning is: (1) Changing cognitive level guidance (2) Setting the order of questions, (3). Tracking questions, and (4) Encouraging interaction.

Abstract

Dyscalculia is a mathematics learning disorder in children who have difficulty counting and calculating. Children who have dyscalculia will show difficulty in doing assignments involving numbers and mathematical symbols. Children with dyscalculia are unable to digest questions and do mathematical processes, or understand abstract questions. So children with dyscalculia cannot solve math problems like children in general. So that to overcome these negative impacts, with dyscalculous disorders can more easily understand and solve math problems.

Abstract

The purpose of the efforts of teachers to overcome student learning difficulties in order to find out the efforts made by teachers to overcome the difficulties of students learning mathematics in fractions in class VII SMP Negeri 7 Padangsidimpuan. This research is a classroom action research conducted using the cycle method. The instruments used are observation and test in the form of essays.Based on the results of the study, it was found that the students' initial abilities in the fraction material through the learning model, this can be seen and the increase in the results of the average initial test scores of all students was 65 and the number of students who passed 5 students with a percentage of 20% and 25 students. In the  first cycle test meeting 1 with an average score of all students, namely 69.08 and the number of students who graduated 13 students with a percentage of 52% and 25 students. In the second session of the first test session, the average of all students was 72.6 and the number of students who graduated was 15 students with a percentage of 60% and 25 students. While the second cycle of meeting 1 test with an average value of all students is 78.2 and the number of students who passed 19 students with a percentage of 76% and 25 students. In the 2nd meeting cycle II test with an average value of all students, namely 82 and the number of students who graduated 21 students with a percentage of 84% and 25 students. Based on the percentage of graduation students have reached the desired level, this study was stopped until the second meeting of the cycle II.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the effect of the application of the mathematical realistic approach toward the students’ mathematics disposition. This study used a pre-experimental research design with a sample cluster random sampling technique. The experiment was conducted in SMA Negeri 4 Padangsidimpuan with the overall population of students of class XI IA second semester of the 2011/2012 academic year  which consist of 5 classes as many as 163 students, while the sample of this study was  class XI IA-1 which consist of 31 students. The instrument used the validated questionnaire. The experiment class was given pretest before treatment and posttest after treatment. Learning by using realistic mathematics approach provided significant influence on students' mathematical disposition. This was indicated by t-test were obtained t-hitung = 9.8 and t-tabel = 2.042. The data fulfilled the test of the hypothesis which is if t-hitung ≥ t-tabel then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, which means there was a significant influence of the application of mathematical realistic approach Indonesia (PMRI) toward the students’ mathematics disposition at class XI IA-1 SMAN 4 Padangsidimpuan.
