Abstract

In today's era of modernization, women prefer to work rather than just housewives, although the workthey choose is not suitable for women. Stereotypes in societies that still assume that women areunsuited for work are increasingly faded by women themselves. They demonstrate the existence andquality of self in order to be accepted in society and to get the recognition that they are worth equallyby men. The development of the world of technology that increasingly facilitate the community indoing all activities to make other aspects of progress as well, including ease in the world oftransportation. Currently, people easily order transportation such as taxis and motorcycles only byusing the application. It is also what motivates women to show the existence and quality of self in theenvironment by doing a profession commonly done by men, which is an online motorcycle taxi driver.Although initially it is considered taboo, but the online motorcycle taxi drivers increasingly prove thatit is not feasible to be a parameter in assessing women.

Abstract

Communication media is a source of power, a control tool that can be utilized as a substitute for poweror other resources, besides the media is a vehicle that plays a role to socialize the events of communitylife both individually and collectively. To provide food availability independently and sustainably itneeds a breakthrough program through the concept of gardening in the yard of the house or the use ofempty land for planting productive crops. The purpose of research to find out how the background ofmedia usage, type of media used and the form of presentation of messages used in the socialization ofurban farming program in the city of Surabaya. The research method used is descriptive qualitativewith data collection interview, observation and literature study. The results showed that the delivery ofagricultural messages in urban areas from the Surabaya City Agriculture Office to poor families(Gakin) scattered in 31 sub-districts did not use mass media on the grounds that the gakin communityrarely mengengan radio, see television and read the print media so generally the delivery of directmessages done facilitator in this case PPL to poor community society by direct way of technicalguidance in the form of group. Media used more to media antarpersona communication. Messagedelivered on how to do urban farming activities for vegetables with a short harvest period ofapproximately one month, the use of narrow land in the yard so as to support household-scale foodsecurity and add green or green open space.

Abstract

The relation of interest between Pikiran Rakyat (HUPR) and West Java Provincial Government (WestJava Provincial Government), especially in the case of public information disclosure, became animportant focus in this research. Through the discourse study formulated by Teun A. Van Dijk, thisresearch seeks to reveal how the HUPR plays a role in the production of news discourse. Then, theissue of this discourse is seen from Gramsci's assumption of hegemony. Some of the findings lead to apattern of mutual interest, both HUPR and West Java Provincial Government. The interest is in theform of image and reputation related to information disclosure on the side of the power of government,and the economic side of the circulation of advertising suppliers in HUPR by the Government from theside of HUPR. Of course, the interest, established because of the pull of power in producinginformation that later in the consumption by the public on a permassive basis. Furthermore, theseconditions resulted in the finding that the greatest cooptation was successfully carried out by theGovernment, while the HUPR had no significant power in drafting its own discourse, as it had beensystematically dictated by the Government, both economically, politically and socially. This researchconfirms that HUPR does not perform its function as sharing information as knowledge, but only as amedium or a tool of government power in creating legitimacy of reputation as an open government.Gramsci through the theory of Hegemony (1991) believes that the government will use all resources topreserve its power. And that power was conseptualized by Van Dijk through the construction of mediadiscourse. With this assumption, then what is happening between HUPR and the government is amutual attraction of interests related to power in each corridor. Media with the interests of capital,and the government with the interests of reputation and image.

Abstract

The aims of the study are to describe negotiation process and to find how women entrepreneursinterpret their negotiations. This study was based on interpretive paradigm with phenomenologicalapproach that resulted in qualitative data. The selected subject consisted of 16 women entrepreneursof food agribusiness in Bogor City. The data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observationand document analysis. The results show that both formal and informal negotiation process whichinvolves people/parties with various interests. The success of negotiation process is affected bynegotiation strategies, such as time, location, media communication, and distributive and integrativestrategies.

Abstract

The challenge of managing waste in the future is to develop zero waste city, however the condition will never be achieved without community participation. In colaboration with NGO which work in waste and garbage management issue, the local government had developed the model of zero waste area in district level. This article is aims to explore the framing of waste management literacy event in Kampung Cibunut. Applying the framing theory of McLachan and Reid, the analysis arrive to the result that continuing interaction among facilitator and cadres and community member has built the shift framing and counter framing. There is also flixed framing which display the resistence to frame change or modification such as the indicators of zero waste area, and flexible framing which display the opennes to frame change or modification such as the implementation of skill transfer in public areas. Entire framing was develop from contextualization of the message delivered in literacy event.

Abstract

This research aims to analysis the connections among communication, participation, and conflictwithin community empowerment. As we know that community empowerment is not a single activity,but is an ongoing process which is cannot be separated to other variables. Without participation fromall of the stakeholders involved, the community empowerment cannot reach its goal. Thisparticipation gives an open and greater opportunity for all stakeholders to get involved in the process,even to control it. Unfortunately, a greater power for the stakeholder precisely will give anunproductive impact when it correlated to a hidden interest which often tends to give an advantage totheir own group. Furthermore, it cannot be denied if the emerging of conflict which is difficult to besolved. In this part, communication plays an important role to prevent it from that conflict when thereis a mutual understanding among all of the stakeholders. This effective communication will alsocontribute to conflict resolution.

Abstract

The research aims to cerat the model of communication forum for village women empowerment as the actualization of participative development (FPPD). The research used Participatory Rural Appration (PRA) research method that involves the role and potential of the community in a participatory to identify and find solutions to problems, and determine the needs that must be implemented by the community itself. Data were collected through Focus Group Discussion (FGD), interviews, observation, and documentation. Analysis of research used interactive analysis through reduction and presentation of data and conclusion. The research location in Sidaurip Village and Karangtawang Village, Cilacap Regency. The results showed that FPPD model have realization of participatory communication that important role in rural development to provide more opportunities for women in planning, implementation, and evaluation of empowerment programs and improving welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal how the tendency of social business players to follow the trend for growingtheir business. The research method used in this research is semi-ethnography approach which will beanalyzed qualitatively. This research took the figures of youth social business in Yogyakarta whosurvived more than 3 years and use social media as one means of empowerment. In the data collection,researchers used in-depth interviews, field observations to the grouping of data through the internet.The results show that in the last three years, young social entrepreneurs more often use facebook andinstagram than other social media to develop social communities and business entrepreneurs.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe a critical discourse analysis about hegemony where United States positionedtheir country as superpower country in Captain America: Steve Rogers comic series. Method used in thisresearch was Critical Discourse Analysis Norman Fairclough with qualitative data and critical paradigm. Theresults of this research showed that Captain America: Steve Rogers comic series has hegemony messages ofUnited States as superpower country. It was reflected through appearance, personality, words, and theideology of Captain America while positioning the enemy as the opposites of the aspects above. CaptainAmerica: Steve Rogers used social, historical, and political factors to ease their hegemony messages beingabsorbed by reader. The conclusion of this study is Captain America: Steve Rogers comic series have nationbranding hegemony messages of the United States as a superpower country. Furthermore, it is expected thatthe study about hegemony would get more attention because hegemony subject would evolve socially andideologically in our society.
