Abstract

The use of birth assistance in Indonesia by midwives in the community is still low (77.03%) if compared to the target indicator of delivery must be 95% by Nakes. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the selection of labor assistants by pregnant women in Tosiba Health Center, Samaturu District, Kolaka Regency in 2017. The research variables consisted of socio-economic status, culture and distance of health facilities. Form of Analytical research with Cross Sectional Study. The number of samples is 84 respondents, using accidental sampling technique. Results of data analysis 70.2% of pregnant women chose birth attendants to health workers and 29.8% of pregnant women chose birth attendants to non-health workers. The chi-square test results have a socio-economic relationship but not significant (x2 = 5.403; P = 0.024) and there is a Cultural relationship but not significant (x2 = 5.581; P = 0.024), while the distance of health facilities has a significant relationship (x2 = 9.188; P = 0.004). A new strategy related to the importance of delivery by Nakes in Pasyankes is very much needed through health sector programs involving cross-sectors including the implementation of continuous education to realize quality health degrees in accelerating the reduction of maternal and infant mortality, NAWACITA 2015-2019.

Abstract

Stunting describes a lack of nutritional status that is chronic during times of growth and development from the beginning of life. This situation is presented with z-score height according to age (TB / U) less than -2 standard deviation (SD) based on growth standards. The purpose of this research was to analyze the Correlation of exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting in children under five in the Work Area of Bastem Utara primary health care. The research design used a cross sectional approach. The sample in this research amounted to 34 people with total sampling technique. The results showed that out of 34 respondents, 13 respondents (38.2%) with exclusive breasmilk included 10 toddlers (29.4%) with short stature and 3 toddlers (8.8%) with very stature short. And as many as 21 respondents (61.8%) did not provide exclusive breastmilk, including 3 toddlers (2.9%) with short stature and 20 toddlers (58.8%) with very short stature. Statistical test results using the chi square test showed that the p-value = 0,000 was smaller than the value of α = 0.05. The conclusion is there was a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in children under five in the Work Area of Bastem Utara primary health care.Based on the results of this research  the authors propose suggestions, among others: expected to increase counseling in schools, Posyandu or cross-sectoral meetings in an effort to reduce the incidence of stunting. Birth attendant midwives are more motivating to support the success of exclusive breastfeeding, paying attention to the quality and quantity according to the needs of toddlers. Posyandu cadres to provide assistance to mothers from pregnancy to 6 months old toddlers for successful exclusive ASI.

Abstract

One of the main factors influencing  labor is the inadequate psychological condition that makes a person feel anxious. One effort to solve anxiety problem is with verbal guidance that with gently and soothingly words can reduce the pain experienced of the mother. This study aims to determine the effect of verbal guidance on the intensity of first phase labor pain in primigravida in-mother mothers. This type of research used quasi- experimental design with one group Pre test-post design techniques. The population in this study were all mothers who gave birth normally in Community Health Center (CHC) of Kassi-Kassi Makassar during March up to June 2019. The sample in this study was 30 respondents using purposive sampling technique, the data used are primary data. Data analysis was performed with the Wilcoxon Test. Based on the Wilcoxon Test results obtained p value = 0,000 which is smaller than the significance degree (α = 0.05). Based on the results of the analysis Ha (Alternative Hypothesis) was accepted and H0 (Zero Hypothesis) was rejected, it means there is the influence of verbal guidance on the intensity of labor pain on the first phase of primigravida mothers in CHC of Kassi-kassi Makassar. We hope to be able to assist midwifery services in improving maternal health services by applying good verbal guidance methods as one of interventions in reducing maternal pain.
