Abstract

The leadership of servants is a new research area linked to ethics, virtues, and morality. As critics debate whether this new leadership theory is significantly distinct, viable, and valuable for organizational success, scholars are currently looking for publication outlets. The objective of this research was to identify empirical studies that explored the theory of servant leadership by involving a sample population to evaluate and synthesize the mechanisms, results, and impacts of servant leadership. Therefore, we were trying to provide an evidence-informed answer to how the ship's servant leader works and how can we apply it? To synthesize research in a systematic, transparent and reproducible way, we conducted a sys-thematic literature review (SLR), a methodology adopted from the medical sciences. A disciplined screening process resulted in 39 appropriate studies of the final sample population. The synthesis of these empirical studies revealed: (a) there is no consensus on the definition of servant leadership; (b) the theory of servant leadership is being studied in a variety of contexts, cultures, and themes; (c) researchers use multiple measures to explore servant leadership, and (d) servant leadership is a viable theory of leadership that helps organizations and enhances us. This research helps to develop the leadership of servants. Theory and exercise. Furthermore, this research contributes to the methodology for conducting SLRs in the field of management, highlighting an efficient method for thematically mapping and holistic viewing of new research topics. By offering suggestions for future research, we conclude.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to show the extent to which different models of leadership in education are studied, including changes in the trends of research on each model over time, the most prominent scholars working on each model, and the countries in which the articles are based. The analysis of related literature was first conducted using a bibliometric analysis of research and review papers indexed in the Science Database Web between 1980 and 2014. A more in-depth analysis of the selected papers was then carried out using the content analysis method. Results have shown that there has been an increasing interest in educational research leadership models over time. Distributed leadership, educational leadership, teacher leadership and transformational leadership are the most studied leadership models in education research. It was also found that related research increasingly focuses on the impact of leaders on organizational behaviors/conditions and student achievement. As a result, the use of quantitative methodology has increased significantly over the last decade. Possible reasons for such changes, implications and recommendations for future research are also discussed.

Abstract

There has been sparse research explicitly looking at toxic leadership, a more complex and comprehensive destructive leadership style in higher education settings, despite the breadth of literature on destructive leadership styles and their impact on organizational culture, mission, and individuals. With the introduction of the term “toxic leadership” in 1996, the corporate world and military agencies began to examine whether leadership could lead to a toxic culture. As of 2007, studies have been unable to connect the concept of learning in higher education systems to the phenomenon of "social learning." To better understand how studies have changed since they were conducted in the 2000s, the authors use their analysis of the literature on toxic leadership in higher ed from three different perspectives: 1) Understanding how toxic leadership affects organizational culture and employee morale. 2) Summarizing the role of toxic leadership in shaping the environment in which employees operate. 3) Speculating on what can be done to manage the risk of building and sustaining such environments.
