Abstract

As a cultured country, the ancestors of the Indonesian people bequeathed a lot of relics that are represented in norms and objects.  Regarding norms, the harmony of the Indonesian nation which is multicultural, multiethnic, and multireligious has become irrefutable evidence.  It is different with relics in the form of material.  Some of them still leave endless debates when they are met with religion.  Amulet, for example, some people consider it as an element of polytheism that must be avoided.  Meanwhile, the majority of the existing community has no problem with its use as long as it is in accordance with the provisions outlined by the pious scholar.  The views of these two groups are based on the same source, namely the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him). Nevertheless, the approaches used in the understanding are completely different, so that they have their own prespective views. The derivation of the passages that appear in the understanding of the two groups into the charts provided by Roland Barthes in his mythical semiology is very helpful for ordinary people to recognize these two views.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the Jenang Suro Tradition in Krupuk Karang Mluwo, Mangli Village, as a hereditary tradition transmitted by their ancestors and performed on a continuous basis when the month of Suro comes. Jenang suro is not only regarded as a tradition, but also as a symbol of community solidarity. This research applies an anthropological approach and applies a qualitative research method. The following findings of this research: The jenang suro ritual transmitted down through generations by the ancestors of the krupuk village community which is consistently found when the month of suro begins, with the intention of rejecting reinforcements and expressing thankfulness for Allah SWT's presence. This ritual is seen as a social binder by the community. The village community asks a religious leader or ustadz to lead the prayer procession after jenang's production process, and the last step is Ter-Ater (delivering) jenang suro to the neighbors. This procedure intends to be a sort of sodaqoh from jenang that has been made, as well as a binder of their neighborly unity.

Abstract

This study aims to find out about the understanding of the overseas Kei people in the city of Jayapura about the customary law of Larvul Ngabal and the impact of the values of the customary law of Larvul Ngabal which are starting to disappear on the overseas Kei people in the city of Jayapura. Using qualitative methods with a social phenomenology paradigm. Research results: The phenomenon that occurs in the overseas Kei community in Jayapura city has experienced a degradation of its original culture, namely the Kei culture, where many of the Kei young generation, especially those who grew up in Jayapura City and who are mixed Kei people (one of their parents is not Kei), cannot speak Kei, this results in an inability to master the customary law of Larvul Ngabal, as well as the younger generation who can speak the Kei area (Veveu Evav) unable to master the contents of the law.  On the other hand, there is a strengthening of religious elements so that it erodes the existence of Larvul Ngabal customary law which without realizing that this customary law can unite various religions in the Kei community. The fundamental conflict is only related to the sanctions imposed by customary law which are still very burdensome for the Kei people, there is also an opinion that if the Kei culture is carried out in overseas areas, the use of caste in custom must be reopened.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the model of zakat distribution which is carried out by the community and to find out the lack of understanding of the groups who are entitled to receive zakat. This study also aims to find out the institutions that applied in society as well as how the perspective of Islamic law regarding the distribution of zakat in Skouw Sae Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City. It is qualitative research, using the paradigm of social phenomenology. Research results: There are quite a lot of Muzaqih included in the category of poor and converts. The formation of Amil by the administrators of the Al-Aqsa Skouw Sae mosque is carried out every year before the holy month of Ramadan. In addition, not all Muslims who are appointed to be Amil knows the terms and duties of it, so that the lack of public knowledge about Islam causes an inability to understand the assets that must be zakated which results in public ignorance about the 8 Asnabs that are obliged to receive zakat. The lack of religious guidance carried out in the community causes knowledge of the obligation to pay zakat to be known to the public, but not in detail about what assets are required to be tithe, the nisab, and who is obliged to receive zakat. This knowledge is only owned by the Imam of the Mosque. The point of view of Islamic law regarding zakat in Skouw Sae that paying zakat is a must that should be done by every Muslim which is not included in the 8 asnabs, its implementation is regulated in the Qur'an and Hadith. Social institutions: Lack of Dai/Mubaliq who can provide continuous religious guidance. Economic Institutions: Economic factors support a person to make the habit of issuing zakat. Cultural Institutions: Habits carried out by people who have the ability not to pay zakat on their wealth to others lead to imitations that are carried out to the next generation, thus creating a new culture in the community.
