Aktivitas dapat juga berupa pengimplementasian dari penelitian dan aktivitas pelayanan kepada masyarakat yang inovatif dengan melibatkan partisipasi masyarakat dan kemitraan untuk kesejahteraan masyarakat. Melalui inovasi dan kolabolasi dari berbagai disiplin ilmu sehingga mampu membantu dan melayani masyarakat.

Abstract

Tofu industry, which consider as a small and medium scale industry (UMKM), use a lot of water in its production process. In order to increase its profit, they need to increase the efficiency of clean water usage. One method is through recycling the wastage water into a clean water so it can be used in the production process. In order to recycle the wastage water, people make use of a passive filter to reduce the dissolved solid and acidity in wastage water so it can be similar with fresh water. From the results of our experiment, an average of 30 litres of recycled water can be used in the production process which reflect to increment efficiency of 5% per day in production process. Therefore, as an impact of the economy, this water recycling process will reduce the production cost of making tofu using of recycled water. And from the social aspect it affects the reduction of fresh water from the ground and reduce odours that will occur in environment.

Abstract

Moyudan Subdistrict is an area that has several small industries of chicken farming. Partner who was the participant of this community service program, Prayogo’s Chicken Slaughterhouse, an SME in Yogyakarta, had a major obstacles to increase the production capacity of good, neat, clean, and hygienic chicken meat and meeting halal standards. In addition, this business still did not have chicken cutting standards according to factory standards (SNI 01-6160-1999). The cutting process was still done manually and conventionally, with mediocre quality and quantity. Production capacity was low, and many production operators experienced high fatigue in the hands and shoulders or experienced musculoskeletal fatigue. The expected transfer of technology in this program is the design of modifications to poultry cutting machines that suit the needs of this partner and is associated with the selection of portable poultry machine designs and manufacturing technologies that can later improve the quality and capacity of chicken meat processing according to halal standards. The results of this community service activity are; (1) one unit of portable poultry machine given to partner; (2) an increase in production capacity of 429% in terms of cutting capacity per day with smooth, precise, and accurate cutting quality; (3) reduced fatigue experienced by the production operators after the machine in operation. The chicken cutting capacity of Prayogo's Chickens Slaughterhouse can be increased by 4.29 times from 75 chickens a day to a maximum of 321 chickens a day.

Abstract

Karang Taruna in Padukuhan Bulu, Semanu, Gunungkidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, has been cultivating catfish since 2018. The problem is that the cost of feed was getting higher so farmers' income was getting lower. This community service aims to introduce and provide mentoring for maggot cultivation for cheap catfish feed so that it can bring benefit to the catfish farming business. From observation and problem identification by the community service team, a program was arranged to produce cheap feed with maggot ingredients, so that the catfish farm can operate more economically and the farmers' incomes can be increased. The activity was carried out for four months, starting from the preparation of making maggot lair cages, maintaining maggot from eggs, and using it as maggot cages. The target is to provide cheaper catfish feed as a substitute for factory-made commercial feed. The results obtained were that Karang Taruna members managed to get catfish feed made from maggots, at a cheaper cost. Besides that, the level of catfish production increased (an increase in income of Rp. 366,000 per pond per period). Hopefully, this activity can be followed up by the local government and the welfare of the younger generation can be improved on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

The purpose of this service is the development of the fishery sector by utilizing the remaining production (reuse and recycle) as an effort to preserve the environment and increase the circular economy. These objectives are derived in specific objectives: 1) Development of processed fish food to fulfill the needs of independent fish feed; and 2) Making fish feed based on local potential and recycling fish processing residue. The service uses training and mentoring methods. The training is expected to provide skills to the community, especially in the manufacture of fish feed made from leftovers. The training was continued with mentoring by involving elements of students on an ongoing basis. Another method used is Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The result of this service is the growing independence of aquaculture fishermen and empowerment in improving their welfare.

Abstract

This community service program was carried out at a family company in Semarang. The company's line of business is in wood processing. Initial observations showed that the problem in the company was due to the condition of the raw materials. Damaged, downsized, and rejected raw materials will occupy more space in the warehouse. This research aims to help the partner overcome the problem of raw materials. By using the service-learning method, the community engagement team consisting of lecturers, students, and company management discussed solutions that can be profitable for the company. The team found that further processing of the damaged raw materials was required. This process would turn the wasted material with low value into valuable pressed wood. According to the calculation of the reprocessing cost of this pressed wood, it can be classified as a profitable product. The team strongly recommends the company owner produce press wood continuously. In the long run, press wood will reduce inventory costs and increase revenue.

Abstract

Today, sex education for teenagers has become increasingly important. Adolescents experience a sexual crisis with various sexual problems they experience, such as pornography, pornoaction, masturbation, confusion of sexual orientation, free sex behavior, sexual violence, and sexual harassment. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of teachers, especially counseling teachers at SMP BPK Penabur Jakarta to assist students in developing healthy sexual development. When teachers can understand adolescent sexuality and have the skills to provide appropriate psychoeducation about sex education to students, they will be more competent to apply it to prevent and intervene in student problems, especially in sexual matters. By using the survey method and descriptive analysis, the evaluation results showed a positive response from the counseling guidance teachers to be able to carry out the training. In addition, the evaluation results show that teachers acquire knowledge and skills about psychoeducation to facilitate healthy sexual development among students. This psychoeducation can be developed for a wider context.

Abstract

Participatory planning methodology is a method that is often used to develop urban areas, especially for low-income residential areas. Low-income community settlements, also known as urban kampong, are always exist in Indonesian urban areas, so participatory planning is very useful for developing urban kampong. In Yogyakarta, there are many urban kampongs in each sub-district area inhabited by low-income residents. One sub-district area that also has urban kampongs is Kelurahan Sorosutan, Kemantren Umbulharjo, the City of Yogyakarta. To carry out the development of urban kampong in Kelurahan Sorosutan, the KOTAKU program from Director General of Cipta Karya, Ministry of Public Works is implemented through collaborating support with several stakeholders including academics. The Urban and Residential Environment Laboratory, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana carried out community service in Kelurahan Sorosutan using community-based participatory planning methods. As a housing scheme, this method does not develop new houses for low-income people but carries out upgrading programs in existing kampong settlements. The involvement of students, teaching staffs, the sub-district government and the local community greatly supports the planning process. The most important stakeholder is the local community who clearly know the potential and problems they face on a daily basis. The purpose of the community service is to make a Master Plan that can be used as a reference to carry out regional development in some stages. The results obtained from this community service are the Master Plan for Regional Development Kelurahan Sorosutan, Kemantren Umbulharjo, the City of Yogyakarta.
