Abstract

Creativity is an essential thing that everyone needs to have so that life continues to be filled with constructive progress. The development of tie-dye technique is one of interesting textile design creativity because it is a synergistic experiment between technique and color. The application of the tie-dye technique on T-shirts as a form of community empowerment activity is considered to have power to stimulate ideas for developing the creativity of Islamic boarding school students in Sukawarna Village. The combination of various techniques such as tying, folding, sewing, wrinkling, and dyeing creates a natural and expressive movement of absorbent color that occurs permanently on the fabric. The participatory demonstration method which is directly applied to media by the participants with lecturers and students’ assistance becomes an effective method in producing interesting works. Participants have a rich visual repertoire of unexpected shapes and colors that can occur in fabrics while watching their friends explore. The conclusion of this creative experience becomes a force for students to be enthusiastic about continuing to work, until one day they have an opportunity to be self-sufficient. This unique result, if managed properly, will bring in consumers so that it can boost the family and even regional economy.

Abstract

In the face of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) needs to be strengthened. Especially now that small and medium enterprises are no longer seen as an alternative, but as the backbone or foundation of the country's economy. There are three things that must be considered and improved in an effort to strengthen the existence of SMEs, namely finance, improving Human Resources (HR) and innovating marketing models through digital technology. MSMEs in Kiaracondong District which are engaged in culinary and handicrafts are small businesses owned and developed by individuals in the guidance, direction and supervision of the Head of the Economic and Development Section at both the sub-district and village levels. In the time of COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of MSMEs in the Kiaracondong sub-district tend to experience a decrease in sales turnover, this is because the marketing of their products is still done conventionally and only around the neighborhood where they live. Therefore, the Langlangbuana University community service team provides assistance to SMEs to develop their entrepreneurial spirit, through discussion methods and FGDs for product innovation assistance, sales promotion strategies, online marketing strategies and digital literacy. The results of the mentoring activity showed that the SME participants in the Kiaracondong sub-district actively participated in mentoring activities and could understand the strategy for developing product variations and understanding digital literacy in marketing their products through social media such as Whatsapp groups and business WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram.

Abstract

Paper is one kind of waste which are abundantly available. Although the use of writing or printing paper is significantly reduced since many writing activities have moved to digital means, however other paper products such as cardboards are significantly increasing. This is a result of the increase in online shopping activities where most of the goods are being delivered in cardboard packages. One of the craft topics for Level 7 of Junior High School from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture includes the recycled paper or other paper products to be transformed into other functions. Hence, cardboard is very suitable to be used as a learning object. As cardboard also has a certain structure which consists of 3 layers of cardboard, the middle is corrugated paper, hence the students could learn to manipulate cardboard into an interesting product. As the workshop was being conducted online there were some techniques that had to be adjusted in terms of material delivery strategies and teaching methods. The workshop method conducted by a community service team consists of university lecturer and university students who gave a mini-workshop session for the 7-grade school students. The students were invited to employ their crafting skills using commonly available recycled cardboard material.
