Abstract

Communication through mobile apps is still looking for a better form, how to be carried out effectively, and how to be well received by the audience. One of the mobile apps widely used by the public today is telemedicine, which offers the integration of various health services. In health communications, the message sent by the doctor is proven to affect patient satisfaction. However, no studies on user satisfaction with telemedicine regarding mental health have been found. One telemedicine service in Indonesia is Halodoc, which provides psychological consultation and mental health articles. This study seeks to prove whether the quality of psychological consultation messages and mental health articles affects Halodoc user satisfaction. Concepts used are health communication, communication psychology, interpersonal communication, message quality, and customer satisfaction. With the quantitative method, this research sampling technique was purposive sampling. Questionnaires were distributed through Google Docs to 100 male and female respondents over 17 years old who had psychological consultations and read mental health articles through Halodoc in the last six months. With all the significant values being 0,000, this study finds out the effect of message in psychological consultation (0,461), mental health articles (0,469), and both together (0,560) on telemedicine user satisfaction.

Abstract

The Indonesian Diaspora includes all Indonesian people who are abroad. Diaspora and migration are phenomena that are often encountered in the history of nations in the world. Barcelona is a multicultural city with people of diverse backgrounds, a lot of Indonesians are interested in living there as a diaspora with several motivations. The education system, cultures, diversity, and inclusivity that Barcelona has to offer are tremendously accommodating, which can be translated as a good destination for Indonesian diasporas to pursue a better life. This research focuses on using Indonesian diasporas in Barcelona as the research subject, finding out the communication pattern they use daily, specifically within their tolerance level for minority groups. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to discover the adaptation process of each subject and how the changes in their level of tolerance affect their communication pattern and the approach to those whom they deem tolerable. From this research, the author concluded that the diasporas’ communication pattern has changed from a high-context culture which they used to implement in Indonesia to a low-context culture due to the multiculturalism and its daily adaptation in Barcelona by the citizens. This is indicated by the increase of their tolerance level because of the exposure to diverse groups in Barcelona which the diaspora learned from and adapted as part of their life.

Abstract

Understanding the diversity of sexuality is still taboo in Indonesia. This directly leads to the practice of marginalising groups with homosexual sexual orientation. Those who have homosexual tendencies cannot freely express themselves, both in the virtual and real worlds. This hegemony of heteronormativity then began to receive a kind of counter-hegemony from various parties, one of which was from the writers and readers of the Alternative Universe (hereinafter referred to as AU) Harry Potter on Twitter. Harry Potter itself is a fictional story with the theme of the wizarding world written by J.K. Rowling, which is often reproduced by fans through various media; AU is one of them. Through AU, fans can imagine creating their own stories using the characters in the Harry Potter story series. One of the highlights of this AU version is when fans make the people in the Harry Potter characters homosexual. Not only does it involve fantasy and imagination, fans also pay attention to their personal identity when interacting with homosexual stories. This study aims to find out how writers and readers of Harry Potter AU stories on Twitter play out homosexual fantasies, as well as how privacy management is used to feel safe interacting with homosexual subjects. To answer these questions, the author conducted research using the netnography method on Twitter. In the process, the author not only looked at user interactions on each Harry Potter AU story but also distributed questionnaires and interviews to the author and readers of the AU story. As for data analysis, the author uses the concept of schizoanalysis from Deleuze and Guattari and combines it with Sandra Petronio's communication privacy management theory. The results of this study show that writers and readers of Harry Potter AUs with homosexual characters have a tendency to want to hide their personal information. They do not want to be recognised when interacting with homosexual stories, even though they are actually very interested in them. This is partly due to social pressure that still upholds heteronormativity.

Abstract

Talking about 2024 is certainly talking about the political year in Indonesia. Year of 2024 is the year when legislative candidates and of course presidential and vice-presidential candidates starts contesting. Currently, one of the presidential candidates from the party that won the 2014 and 2019 elections is Ganjar Pranowo. As one of the presidential candidates in 2024, Ganjar Pranowo really needs to present himself as a person who deserves to be the president of Indonesia in 2024, so it is important for Ganjar Pranowo to utilize his social media and then through the concept of hyperreality give an effect to a wide audience through social media. This research was conducted to find out how Ganjar Pranowo's political branding simulation in preparation for the 2024 Presidential Election is based on big data analysis on Tiktok social media through content related to Ganjar's candidacy as a Presidential candidate in 2024. The focus of the research is the arrangement and meaning of #GanjarPresiden2024 signs and messages on mainstream social media received by digital society and then forming a simulation of Ganjar Pranowo's political branding which is the result of the digital communication process towards Ganjar's political representation as a 2024 presidential candidate. The research method uses Jean Baudrillard's theory with a simulation approach.

The smart city concept has been used by many cities in Indonesia as means to ease people lives. Yogyakarta, as the province with the highest ratio of area and number of tourism visits in Indonesia, is a province that has been quite hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the affected parties are Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). To anticipate this, the Yogyakarta City Government launched the Jogja Smart Service (JSS) application. JSS was launched with the aim of facilitating public services, and one of its features namely Gandeng Gendong to bring together the SMEs community with potential buyers. This paper will describe the communication process of JSS application by Yogyakarta City Government and SMEs actors. This research departs from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic felt by the SMEs of Yogyakarta City on the economy in their lives. After the pandemic, the Yogyakarta City Government tried to foster smart economy as one of the smart city branch concepts. Nonetheless, there are still many challenges. In anticipation of a repeat of the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the SMEs actors must be able to quickly adopt the Jogja Smart Service application. The results of the research obtained are the process of communication by Yogyakarta City Government and SMEs actors in the early majority stage. The SMEs actors are at the confirmation stage. The confirmation determines that SMEs actors continue to use the Jogja Smart Service application but need more socialization and training.

Abstract

Live-streaming activities on TikTok have developed into the most popular form of content creation today because it is equipped with virtual prizes so that various types of live streaming content have emerged, one of which leads to "online begging" activities. This research used qualitative research methods through symbolic interaction studies by analyzing the relationship between actors (streamers) and audiences. The results of this study show that virtual gifts on TikTok which were originally used as a means of expression & appreciation are then used as a tool to ask for sympathy and empathy. This research also shows that the motivation of gift givers also varies from sympathy to mere entertainment. There are legal and economic aspects and determining factors that support that the phenomenon of begging in live streaming can lead to economic progress, but it does not rule out the possibility of violating the law and being prosecuted according to applicable laws and regulations. This research can be a consideration in forming regulations and intervention strategies for the government and related agencies regarding this phenomenon.
