Abstract

Spirituality concerns two things: what one does and what one believes others should do. The first part relates to the act of object, and the second relates to the subject of service. This paper aims to describe the spirituality of service in the pastoral leadership model of Fr. Janssen, CM. The method of research used is qualitative, while the method of data gathering is through focus group discussion, interviews, and documentary studies. Focus groups are seen as an appropriate method because discourse and 'shared opinion' will make the validity of the results of this research more secure. Focus groups and shared opinions utilize the perceptions, experiences, and profound relationship between the sources and Fr. Janssen, CM. The researcher interviewed five key informants. Meanwhile, the documentary study deals with documents that support the interview data. Saldaña's coding method is utilized in data analysis. The data will be processed based on six coding steps. The results of this study show that the spirituality of the ministry of Fr. Janssen, CM is reflected in the transformational leadership model. Transformational leadership gives birth to beliefs that are the basis for pastoral ministry. The leadership model of Fr. Janssen, CM's is a set of values. These values are revealed in service and manifested in a definite way of life. This research significantly contributes to the science of ecclesiology in Indonesia and pastoral leadership in general.

Abstract

The diversity of paradigms and learning models is aimed to fulfill the needs of students. Learning materials need to be adapted according to the needs that are increasing from day to day. This study aims to explore and identify various teaching and learning models that are applied by Catholic Religious teachers at the junior high school level in Pontianak Municipality. It includes, first, the teaching and learning that are practiced by Catholic Religious Education (CRE) teachers; second, the various constraints experienced by CRE teachers in implementing the learning models; third, the extent of the students’ needs for CRE teaching and learning specifications. The study was conducted on 6 junior high schools, consisting of 5 state schools and 1 private Catholic. Primary data is collected by interview techniques. Through the interview technique, the researcher obtained information frominformants (teachers, students, and other related parties). Interviews were conducted in a semi-structured, assisted by an interview guide as a data collection tool without limiting the number of questions. Informants were selected purposively. In this study, Focus Group Discussion was also conducted as a forum for discussion and debriefing for CRE teachers in deepening their insight into the models. The study shows that the models are dominated by the cooperative model; while the constraints for the utilization of the models are the lack of facilities and the evaluation from the CRE teachers towards the learning models.

Abstract

Catholic schools are required to have unique character building programs for their students. Character education in Catholic schools is a continuous combination of hard and soft skills building. These two directions of development give students intellectual intelligence and form self-integrity as individuals with strong character. In education, this demand cannot be separated from moral responsibility and competition among the educational instititutions. This competition raises various problems, including the closing down of schools due to various problems. As the phenomenon described in Ambarawa, several Catholic schools had to close down due to the absence of students. This problem is, of course, related to the community's perception of the peculiarities of Catholic schools in character building. This study examines people's perceptions of character-building in Catholic schools. This study uses a descriptive quantitative method with participants, namely the general public who live in Ambarawa City and its surroundings. The results showed that people's perceptions of character building at Catholic schools in Ambarawa were classified as high 70.59%, very high 26.89%, moderate 1.68%, low 0%, and very low 0.84%. The study results show that the public perceives Catholic schools as schools with a clear and visionary education system. The results of this study can be used as evaluation material for policymakers in developing Catholic schools in Ambarawa and its surroundings.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between student participation and prosocial behaviour in Catholic Senior High School students. The research method used is quantitative, with a correlational approach between variables. The subjects of this study were Catholic High School students in the Episcopal Vicariate of Kedu area, namely SMA Tarakanita Magelang, SMA Pangudi Luhur Van Lith, and SMK Pangudi Luhur Muntilan with a total of 295 respondents. The measurement tools used are the Student Participation Scale and the adaptation of the Prosocial Behaviour Scale. The analysis technique used is the productmoment correlation technique from Spearman's rho. The results of this study indicate that (a) there is a negative and significant relationship between participation and the public dimension with a coefficient value of -0.180 (p=0.000<0.05), (b) there is a positive and significant relationship between participation and the anonymous dimension of 0.240, emotional of 0.181, and compliant with a coefficient of 0.240 with (p=0.000<0.05). Besides that, there are two relationships between participation and dire and altruism dimensions which cannot be known because the linearity requirement is not fulfilled.

Abstract

School is a good place to develop a community. Forming a society with high social awareness can be started by developing schools in the community. The collaboration between local community members and education observers in the Sorowajan Yogyakarta area has been fruitful. This study aims to describe the social role of Kanisius Sorowajan Elementary School in society. The research was conducted at SD Kanisius Sorowajan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Researchers used a qualitative case study approach. The methods used in this research for data collecting were interviews and documentation. The data obtained was analyzed using techniques (in-depth analysis), namely by summarizing, categorizing, and interpreting the data into narratives. Informants or resource persons in this study were school principals, students, teachers, employees of Kanisius Sorowajan Elementary School, and members of the community around the school. The research was conducted from May to September 2022. The results showed that the social role of Kanisius Sorowajan Elementary School was found not only in its social activities but also in the school's active involvement in every aspect of the life of the community around the school. The social activities aforementioned were visiting sick residents, distributing groceries for the elderly, community members affected by Covid-19, community members in need, mourning, interfaith joint prayers, and ruwahan. Schools can support the community by providing locals for youth activities, arisan RT, tirakatan, alumni gatherings, Sunday School, wedding receptions, community Masses every Tuesday night, etc. while also providing mats, sound system, and sometimes assisting the society in repairing public streets.

Abstract

Young people are important assets of the country and the church. Young people are inseparable from efforts to achieve the goals of the nation and state as well as the church. They have new knowledge, a high level of creativity, uniqueness, and specificity that need to be developed. Thus, their presence can also bring blessings to others and development to the Church. Therefore, the role of young people should not be ignored. This research departs from the author's observation in his home parish. The author found a lack of activeness in the Catholic Youth in the parish. Young Catholics need assistance from the Church. Young Catholics who are the present and future of the Church need to be assisted and prepared from now on. This study aims to provide insight into the development of the Catholic Youth faith in the midst of technological developments (internet) and foster the interest of young Catholics in church life and participation in church services. This research uses quantitative methods to find out how active young people are in church activities, and also literature study methods. The author created questions in a google form and then distributed them to 103 respondents. The author also looks for references that match the author's ideas. What this writing aims to achieve is to know the level of activeness of Catholic Youth in church.
