Abstract

The science which discussed microbes is a part of the important concept in learning that implemented in curriculum 2013. To achieve national goals where students can critical, this research aims to analyze the critical thinking ability of students on courses of microbiology. Research methods a descriptive method which describe the phenomena of comment on the article through weblog about microbe daily life. There were 41st task had been commented on web. Then from the 41st, the 5th of article with commented were taken by purposive sampling technique to analyses critical response of the writer on comments. The results showed that, the writer able to argue with the reason, to observe and judge observation report, consider the credibility of a source, make deduction and the result of deduction, determine the term and judge the definition of the use of certain criteria (identify assumption).  But, the writers haven't been able to follow problem solving and metacognition, nor the sensitive in feeling and the same rhetoric in discussion and presentation. It was concluded that critical thinking skills students, still within the aspect on clarification to make decisions about belief or action. Keywords: critical thinking, weblog, daily life issue

Abstract

This study was aimed to explore the age appropriate of callus which forming cell suspension in liquid culture. T. paniculatum leaf explants planted on solid MS medium with the addition of 2 ppm of 2,4 D and 1 ppm kinetin. Callus was on 3, 4, 5, and 6 weeks moved separately in 50 mL of liquid MS with 1 ppm 2,4 D and 1 ppm kinetin, agitated at 100 rpm for six days in absolute dark conditions (25 ± 1oC). Dry biomass and total saponins were measured by the Hu method. Callus on 4-week-old callus has the highest biomass (0.16 x 10-3 g), but the highest levels of saponins derived callus at the age of 5 weeks (17.45 ppm). Keywords: biomassa, callus age, total saponin, Talinum paniculatum, cell agregat

Abstract

Abstract - The utilization of Coleus tuberosus Benth is not common for Indonesian citizen especially for the carbohydrate sources. Whereas, the Black Potatoes have a great potention to be develop at dryland . Dryland is distribute rife in Indonesia. Unfortunately, the utilization is not optimal exploitation. The adaptability of the black potatoes in dryland is very well. It can be seen from the requirement to grow plants that spread in many kind of land from low land until high land variety. Black potatoes can be used as carbohydrate source because the content of protein  higher than potatoes commonly in highland comercial . In addition, more black potatoes resistant to the diseases. The cultivation of black potatoes  easier than the commercial potato crops. By those reason, The utilization black potatoes have a good prospective in Indoneasia especially in dry land. Keywords: Coleus tuberosus, dry land

Abstract

This research is a class act. This study aims to determine the application of learning patterns PBMP (Empowerment Through Thinking Questions) to increase awareness of metacognition in learning Biology MIA in class X - 2 at SMAN 8 Malang . This research was conducted during two cycles , each cycle includes stages : 1) initial Reflection / pre-action, 2) action planning, 3) Implementation and observation , 4) Reflection. The number of students in the class XMIA - 2 as many as 34 students . After analyzing the data , metacognition skills in the first cycle was 56.8 while the second cycle of  70.5. This metacognition skills measured using metacognition rubric (adapted from Corebima,  2011). This column is used to determine the metacognition skills by analyzing the answers to the written test in narrative form of KD 3.7 and 3.8. The conclusion of this research study PBMP patterns can improve the skills of metacognition in learning biology at XMIA - 2 grade students of SMAN 8 Malang . The author gives advice to other researchers to integrate pattern into PBMP teaching models on Curriculum 2013.  Key words : learning  patterns PBMP, metacognition  skills , high school biology subjects

Abstract

Abstract - Ginseng is the family of Araliaceous which has been famous and used in China since 3 BC by its various benefits. It is believed that the more aged the ginseng, the more healing, and the more healthful for the body. In Indonesia, the product of ginseng processed is not well known; as a result this product is not well socialized. One of the ginseng benefits is, counteract the fatigue, giving stimulant effects and releasing the symptoms of aging. Up to now people traditionally used the ginseng root only, while the Red ginseng fruit which has anthocyanin (antioxidants) and various health benefits has not used by the society specially for people in Kediri. The trial processed the red ginseng fruit after the harvest season is intended to introduce the product ginseng processed from Pukad Red Ginseng which is to improve performance and stamina, and to give diet solutions. It has been done three times production. Organoleptic test subject is the students, the official and the lecturer of University of Nusantara PGRI. The food process of pudding red ginseng is doing by mixing the fruit extract of Red Ginseng to the pudding admixture. The result shows that the third product is the most preferred for the flavor, aroma, color, texture, and the packaging which is match with the consumer taste. The utilization the red ginseng fruit is expected to give the motivation for the students of University Nusantara PGRI to make a culinary entrepreneurship. The product improvement, the packaging as well as the licensing for the Pukad Red Ginseng is very necessary to do. Furthermore, this culinary product is expected to promote the variety culinary especially in Kediri.  Keywords: pukad red Ginseng, anthocyanin, improve performance and stamina and diet solution

Abstract

Sun bear (Helarctos malayanus) is one of the fauna in East Kalimantan, included to protected biodiversity. Since 2002 sun bear used to be the mascot of Balikpapan City. To save the population of sun bear, there isKawasan Wisata Pendidikan Lingkungan Hidup (KWPLH) in which there are five sun bears in the enclosure area of 1.3 hectares. Outside the enclosure, there is a boardwalk along 400 meters which provided for visitors to see and observe the sun bears and their behavior directly. This study aims to examine the behavior of sun bears at KWPLH Balikpapan City. Used method is the method of survey, interviews, and document analysis. The results showed there were at least four observable behavior which are feeding behavior, social, activities, and communication. Eating behavior that were seen aretheir way to eat and the type of food. There are different relationship in social behavior such as nice fellow, polite, cranky, or irritable. Sun bear’s active time is during the afternoon (diurnal). To communicate between sun bears, it can be done through sound, smell, and various facial expressions. The conclusion in this study is sun bear’s behavior can be observed well if it maintained in an extensive enclosure and managed according to the condition of natural habitats. Keywords : educational tour, sun bear, behavior

Abstract

Rehabilitasi Lahan Marginal Tipe Entisols Melalui Pembongkaran Bahan Induk dan Penambahan Bahan Organik. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Pangkep dari Bulan April sampai Oktober 2013. Penelitian menggunakan model Rancangan Petak Terpisah, dengan Petak Utama (PU) adalah Pembongkaran Tanah 30 cm (P1) dan Pembongkaran Tanah 60 cm (P2), sedangkan Anak Petak (AP) adalah komposisi kompos limbah padat organik : K1= 10 ton/ha, K2= 20 ton/ha, K3= 30 ton/ha, K4= 40 ton/ha. Parameter yang diamati adalah fisik dan kimia tanah yaitu : kerapatan lindak, kadar air tanah, KTK tanah, pH tanah, kandungan N, P, K, dan C-organik tanah, sedangkan parameter tanaman adalah tinggi tanaman. Hasil yang diperoleh berdasarkan hasil analisa sidik ragam pada interaksi antara Pembongkaran tanah dan komposisi gulma berbeda nyata, dan berdasarkan hasil analisa uji lanjutan BNT diperoleh 1) Interaksi antara perlakuan pembongkaran tanah (P) dengan pemberian kompos limbah padat organik (K) pada tanah berpengaruh nyata terhadap penurunan kerapatan lindak tanah (Bulk Density), peningkatan kadar air tanah, penurunan pH tanah, peningkatan KTK tanah, peningkatan kandungan N, P dan C-organik tanah. 2) Interaksi antara perlakuan pembongkaran tanah (P) dengan pemberian kompos gulma (K) pada tanah berpengaruh nyata terhadap  tinggi tanaman jagung. Kata kunci : Entisol, Pembongkaran tanah, Kompos, limbah padat organik

Abstract

Matakuliah Taksonomi Tumbuhan Rendah merupakan salah satu matakuliah pada semester 3 dan untuk pertama kalinya diterapkan pada kelas internasional di Jurusan Biologi. Oleh karena itu matakuliah ini belum memiliki perangkat pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan di kelas Internasional dengan berorientasi sesuai dengan kebijakan kurikulum kelas Internasiona seperti produk, sikap dan ketrampilan, kemampuan berpikir dan menulis, serta  short term Loss-Long term gain. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan perangkat pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan dalam kelas Internasional yang layak secara teoritis. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan 4 D tetapi disseminate tidak dilakukan. Adapun perangkat yang disusun antara lain silabus, RPP, LKM, dan media power point. Hasil penelitian pengembangan ini seluruh perangkat pembelajaran berkategori sangat baik (> 3,45) dan dinyatakan layak untuk digunakan. Kata Kunci : perangkat pembelajaran, kelayakan teoritis, taksonomi, tumbuhan rendah

Abstract

UKM ketchup " Tomat Lombok " and UKM sauces " Sinar Mulia " is located in Penusupan street RT 04 RW Penusupan Village , District Kagok Slawi , Tegal city , Central Java Province . UKM ketchup " tomato Lombok " owned by Mr. HS Sumarnoto producing 1400 kg per day , whereas UKM sauce " Sinar Mulia " produces 500 kg of sauce per day . Total waste of two UKM to produce solid waste at 60 kg / day and 3 m3 of liquid waste . In generally produce soy sauce and sauce according to market needs and conventional manufacturing process so it is not durable or easily damaged due to microbial contamination in nature . Spoilage microorganisms in soy sauce is generally proteolytic bacteria or molds. Chito - oligosaccharides synthesis process ( COS ) from shrimp or crab shell waste that is relatively easy , simple ,  so that COS can be used as a prebiotic and a natural preservative and prebiotics for the production of ketchup and sauce  in UKM partner. The integrated COS utilization  ketchup and  sauce  is expected to function as a preservative , a natural prebiotic , antioxidant and adsorbent in wastewater treatment, so that  is expected to provide value -added aspects of the technology , economic and social through halal certificates and patents , which in turn can improve well-being . Keywords : UKM , ketchup and sauce, chito-oligosaccharide, prebiotics, preservatives

Abstract

This study aims to build a socioscientific issues discussion framework through social networks "facebook". This is a developmental research within cyclic model. Five cycles performed to find a a socioscientific issues discussion framework that can support argumentation skill.  Almost 183 participants were involved in the development of  socioscientific issues discussion framework.
