Abstract

In Indonesia, the study of biomarkers is still very few because not many biomarkers are understood in various inland public waters here. The research location was at the Koto Panjang Reservoir as the experimental location and the Sei Tiban Fish Seed Center as the control location. The fish tested were carp and tilapia. Sample analysis was carried out in a certified laboratory at Construction Materials Laboratory, Department of Public Works, and Genetics Laboratory, Universitas Riau. The biomarkers studied were LSI, GSI and MT, and heavy metals observed were Cd, Pb and Hg. The research method was Experimental Design. Based on the statistical test, there was no difference in the LSI value of tilapia in the treatment group and tilapia in the control group (p = 0.187; p > 0.05), while it was different from goldfish (p = 0.0000; p < 0.001). In GSI, both of tilapia and carp showed significant differences (p = 0.0010; p < 0.010) and (p = 0.0060; p < 0.010). The tilapia and carp-treated livers showed the presence of MT while not in the control fish. This indicates that MT can be used as a biological marker of heavy metal exposure compared to GSI and LSI.

Abstract

Catfish is the main commodity fish smoking in the Kampar area. Increasing the amount of production causes the waste obtained to be higher. If waste is not managed properly it will pollute the environment. Liquid organic fertilizer is an alternative utilization of processing waste. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the elements N, P, and K in liquid organic fertilizer from catfish processing wastewater. Making liquid fertilizer is done through fermentation techniques. In this case the fermentation was carried out with variations in the time range, 10, 15 and 20 days with variations in the addition of the volume of EM4 microorganisms 0 ml, 10 ml, 20 ml and 30 ml. The catfish waste liquid fertilizer is dark brown to brownish yellow with a pH ranging from 6.65 -7.03. The highest N, P, and K content of catfish waste liquid fertilizer was found to be nitrogen (N) 0.55% with the addition of EM4 30ml with a fermentation time of 10 days, phosphorus (P) 1.01% without the addition of EM4 with a fermentation time of 20 days, and potassium (K) 0.32% with the addition of EM4 30 ml with a fermentation time of 15 days.

Abstract

Biduk-biduk sub-district in East Kalimantan Province is famous for its natural beauty and richness in its waters, one of which is Labuan Cermin Lake. This study aims to determine the basic depth conditions of the waters of Lake Labuan Cermin and determine the type or type of tide. The implementation of the research includes data collection which is divided into 2, namely, data on the condition of the bottom of the waters using bathymetry and data on changes in water levels (tides). Lake area data is obtained using satellite image data processing methods (mapping or GIS programs), then ground-checking is carried out through marking coordinate points (marking) or tracking the edge of the lake using GPS.  Furthermore, depth data collection is carried out by measuring the bathymetry of various points scattered throughout the lake waters.  Tidal data collection begins with the installation of a scale pole (tidal palm) at the location of the lake waters.  Tidal data is obtained from observations of the water level/face read on the scale pole. The results of the study obtained that Labuan Cermin Lake waters have different slopes on each side of the lake. The southern part which is near the source of fresh water springs with a depth of 10 meters is categorized as steep with a slope of 32.56% or 18.03o, the bottom of the lake waters is categorized as sloping or undulating with a percentage of 7.58% or 4.33o. The result of the type of tide in the waters of Lake Labuan Cermin is a mixed type leaning to double daily.
