Abstract

Red Jabon (Anthocephalus macrophyllus (Roxb.) Havil) is a forest plant that can replace sengon (Falcataria moluccana) because it has advantages. The demand for red jabon wood is increasing, but the cultivation of red jabon is still constrained by the attack of pathogens that cause leaf disease. The attack of these pathogens can cause damage and death of seedlings so that it can be economically detrimental. The aim of this study was to identify the pathogens that cause disease in red Jabon. The method used is the Postulate Koch method, which starts from sampling red leaves with leaf disease symptoms, isolation, inoculation and analysis of disease incidence, re-isolation, and identification. Based on the identification results found as many as 2 pathogenic fungi that cause leaf spot disease, namely Pestalotia sp. and Rhizoctonia sp. In addition, 6 pathogenic fungi were found that cause blight, namely Lasiodiplodia theobromae, Fusarium sp., Colletrotrichum sp., Marssonina sp., Gloeosporium sp. 1, Gloeosporium sp. 2. Abstract

Java kenanga or kenanga (Cananga odorata f. macrophylla) is a tropical and sub-tropical tree species that grows naturally in Indonesia and produces essential oil. This species has been cultivated in the past by community in Indonesia, mainly on their yard. The population of kenanga has decreased significantly, but in Blitar district the community is still doing cultivating the species although in a small scale. The purpose of this research is to observe the cultivation efforts by the community and also kenanga flower production in Blitar district. This research was conducted by interviewing farmers and observation of kenanga trees in the field. The results showed that cultivation efforts being made to improve the production of kenanga flower is by pruning, fertilizing, flowering routine and retrieval or emoval of kenanga fruit. The average kananga flower production reached 381 kg / year / tree in the age group above 11 years. Factors that affect flower production were tree age (years), total tree height (m), diameter at breast height (cm) and the width tree canopy (m2). The most significant factors affecting flower production were tree diameter and width of tree canopy. Cultivation efforts being made to improve the production of kenanga flower is by pruning, fertilizing, flowering routine and retrieval or removal of kenanga fruit. Abstract

Kesambi (Schleichera oleosa (Lour.) Merr.) is a host plant that becomes priority in lac culture in Indonesia. Shellac is one of the non-timber forest product commodities, which is potential to be one of foreign exchange sources. World demand of shellac is increasing throughout the year so that the improvement of shellac productivity is required to fulfill the demand. One of the alternatives is implementing the fertilization due to host plant quality improvement considering that host plant is the source of nutrient of shellac. The activity of fertilization aims to understand the effect of fertilization dosage to the improvement of the branch length as well as productivity of shellac in KPH Probolinggo. The greatest average value of branch length during three and six months, respectively were 66.48 cm and 83.24 cm. While, the greatest average value of shellac productivity was 84.29 g. The treatment of fertilization in different dosage to the kesambi (Schleichera oleosa (Lour.) Merr.) was not give significant effect to the length of branch as well as shellac productivity. Abstract

Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, Jambi has a serious problem with peatlands fires. The effects of humidity, air temperature and rainfall are often associated with climatic influences that provide ideal conditions for fire to occur. The results of the study clearly showed that air humidity, air temperature, and rainfall contributed to the number of hotspot. Humidity was the variable with highest correlation of -0,569. The decrease of humidity that followed by a decrease in rainfall and an increase in air temperature from June to September 2019 led to the highest hotspot in September 2019, which resulted to an increase of forest fire occurrences in Tanjung Jabung Timur, Jambi. Abstract

The presence of Pericopsis mooniana (Thw.) Thw. in nature is endangered. Meanwhile, Pericopsis mooniana plants have its obstacles in generative propagation because the seeds have mechanical dormancy. Studies carried out to: (1) observe the morphology of pods, seeds and sprouts of Pericopsis mooniana; (2) determine the physical quality of Pericopsis mooniana seeds, and (3) analyze the proper dormancy breaking treatment for Pericopsis mooniana seeds. Research is conducted in laboratories and in greenhouses. The physical quality of the seeds measured was the weight of 1,000 seeds and the moisture content. The treatment for breaking the dormancy of the Pericopsis mooniana seeds were control, scarification of the seeds using nail clippers and soaking in hot to cold water for 48 hours. Morphologically, the fruit of Pericopsis mooniana is pod-shaped, with orange seeds, oval-shaped and curved edges. Pericopsis mooniana sprouts include in the epigeal type. In 1 kg of weight there are ± 4,000 Pericopsis mooniana seeds, with the post harvest seed moisture content amounting to 7.62%. The dormancy breaking treatment of Pericopsis mooniana seeds increased seeds germination by 60% compared to controls. The scarification of Pericopsis mooniana seeds using nail clippers for breaking mechanical dormancy is the best treatment because it can increase the number of seeds germinating in a short time and simultaneously. Key words: breaking seed dormancy, morphology, Pericopsis mooniana, physical quality, seed scarificatio
