Abstract

Rotary Kiln  machine  is used in fertilizer plant which is function to mix the fertilizer ingredients. Part of the Rotary Kiln is support by using a roller. Support roller is made of 20MnCr6 material, AISI 5120 (0.18% C) with casting process. Normalizing phase on casting processes is using to increase strength of the material The objectives of the normalizes process is to eliminate residual stresses, softening, increasing toughness, homogenization of micro structures and to ease machining processes. The effect of normalizing can be measured by using  mechanical test, ie tensile test, hardness test and microstructure analysis. Test specimens were made the same material with normalizing and without normalizing process. Normalizing process temperature at 900oC heating for 150 minutes with air cooling for 7 hours. The results has shown that normalizing material has lowest tensile strength of 41.05 kgf/mm2 is compared to 42.16 kgf/mm2. However, the ductile fracture is higher 41.2% is compared to 29.52%, the microstructure formed uniformly evenly compared without normalizing. The softening process also makes the roller support rotate due to rubbing with riding ring.

Abstract

Abstract: Lead (Pb) in solder has been used for decades in industries of electronic equipment. Mostly in the lead solder old electronic equipment containing 63% (Sn), 37% lead (Pb). Heating solder in high temperature steam generating heat which can damage the respiratory system. The purpose of this analytic is to obtain the characteristics of the mechanical properties of the alloy Sn-0,7Cu- "X" Zn better than the Sn-Pb alloy as an alternative to non-lead solder alloy material. Tests conducted in the form of density, melting temperature, metallography, shear strength, and hardness. The effect of addition of Zn alloy Sn-Cu-Zn increase hardness value of each acquired 85% of the material Sn-0,7Cu-10Zn, 81% were obtained from material Sn-0,7Cu-11Zn and 70% was obtained from material Sn -0,7Cu-11Zn. While the effect of adding Zn alloy Sn-Cu-Zn can increase the shear strength of each of about 29.4% on a material- 0,7Cu-10Zn Sn, 65% in material Sn-0,7Cu-11Zn and about 140% is obtained from material Sn-0,7Cu- 12Zn.

Abstract

Most of the fishermen in Indonesia, using pumps to drain water in the ship. The use of pumps insea water often lead to rapid corrosion, especially on the impeller. Impeller manufacture of plasticmaterials is an alternative to solve this problem. Stages in the designing mould of plastic impeller is with3D and 2D drawing, choose a suitable polymer material, making mold of product, selecting componentsof mold and simulating the result. In designing mould of plastic impeller used software to simulate theplastic mould with mould parameters plastic inserts to get the best results before the completion ofproduction. As for plastic injection machine that is used to clamp force 1000 ton capacity with 8 pieces ineach injection products and using nylon material, 281,1oC temperature parameters, 62 sec of cycle timeand 80,552 MPa pressure.

Abstract

Abstract: Material developments in Indonesia is already very advanced rapidly certainly need high level of violence but has a mass of light. Aluminum should be developed because it possesses a lightweight and available in the land of our country that is rich in agricultural products. As an alternative to strengthen aluminum alloy that is with Si and Mg, as well as the rapid cooling process when smelting. This study was conducted to observe the microstructure and mechanical properties of the raw material of aluminum alloy series 6063. Tests conducted with metal mold, furan resin sand mold, commossa sand mold, the cooling rate of each mold will affect the hardness of the material which can be seen microstructure with microstructural observations. The survey results revealed that the aluminum with a metal mold casting has a hardness of 54 HRB, furan resin sand has a hardness of 40 HRB, sand commossa has a hardness of 33 HRB. Metal mold has a shock force of 0,316 J/mm2, particularly a furan resin sand shock force of 0,265 J/mm2, commossa sand has a shock force of 0.206 J/mm2. Metal mold has a high hardness compared with furan resin sand rated second, while the sand was rated commossa end but increasingly harsh mean tenacity of a material value will increase. According to the test micro structure, the aluminum is brittle, the distance or the distribution of grain will be a meeting or a lot.

Abstract

The solar collector is a device that collects solar radiation and converts it into useful heatenergy. Several types of solar collectors include the parallel flow flat plate solar collector and theperpendicular flow absorber plate solar collector. Previous design of flat plate solar collectorperpendicular flow absorber plate usually uses plates with the same hole diameter. To improve theperformance of this solar collector, modifications have been made by adding perforated fins withdifferent diameters which are arranged staggeredly as an air flow channel or nozzle. The intendedmodification of nozzle diameter is to make the nozzle diameter size different from the large diameter nearthe inlet to the small diameter near the oulet and compared to the reverse nozzle position. Making thediameter of the nozzle near the inlet is larger than the diameter of the hole near the outlet aims to makethe mass flow of air passing through the hole near the inlet larger, so that the flow of air massesexperiences more heat transfer while the diameter of the hole near the outlet is made small is to reducethe mass flow of air which is wasted faster through the outlet channel. With the variation of the holediameter from large to small, it is expected that the heat transfer that occurs in the solar collector will bemore optimal, but it should also be seen in the reverse position. The research was carried outexperimentally. The results of his research show that the useful energy and efficiency of solar collectorswith large to small diameter slotted fins are higher than those with small to large diameter slotted fins.

Abstract

Abstract: Hardening is the process of heating the steel to a temperature of austenite and then dyeing is done quickly, the process is carried out to improve the properties of steel hardness. The method used in this research using books and journal literature .The purpose of this study to determine the mechanical properties of the steel that is cooled by the cooling medium brine , oil, water and air in the cooling medium to the level of violence after the S45C steel is hardened in a hardening process and microstructure . The study starts from the cutting hardness test specimen with a diameter of 65 mm x 7 mm x 10 mm and impact test with a diameter of 10 mm x 10 mm x 55 mm . The results obtained hardness test salt water has the average value of hardness 95 BHN , the average value of hardness oli 89 BHN , the average value of water hardness 94 BHN , the average value of hardness air 87 BHN and hardness values without in hardening 88 BHN , impact test on the air has an average value 1.175 J/

Abstract

The problem of fossil fuel crisis, both petroleum and coal, and the phenomenon of climatechange due to global warming, trigger the use of renewable energy that can overcome these problems.Cross-flow water turbine is one of the machine that can be used to produce small scale electric energy insmall scope. This turbine can be used in urban areas to assist industrial activities and their usefulness indaily life. The use of the right materials and strong construction can produce a good shape so that thiswater turbine is not only make efficient energy but also efficient and ergonomic in its use. This study isconducted theoretically to a cross-flow turbine which assumed to operate at 10m water height with 1.4L/s, outer diameter 150mm and 75mm thickness. The turbine consist of 15 blades with angle of attack ofthe blades is 30o. The results show that the turbine generate 119 Watt

Abstract

Abstract: 4 ways hacksaw is one type of wood hacksaw, which has 4 arms wood hacksaw and connected by linkage, so that can make translation movement. This 4 ways hacksaw powered by 1,5 HP AC Motor. This 4 ways hacksaw design, performed modeling and construction load simulation was made and simulated by Autodesk Inventor Professional 2014 software. And also on this load simulation this product also had good strength and ability to receive the maximum load force. So it is safe to be use

Abstract

Abstract: Refrigerant R22 can cause ozone layer depletion so that required refrigerant substitute for R22. Refrigerant R407C is one of the refrigerant substitute for R22. Research of refrigerant in the cooling engine with air-cooled condenser is done by experimental methods. This research was conducted using refrigerants R22 and refrigerant R407C with a flow rate of 20 L /h, 40 L/h, 80 L/h and 120 L/h. Test data processing include the calculation of refrigeration capacity, compressor power and COP values. COP or Coefficient Of Performance shows the efficiency of the refrigerant. The best COP values are in the refrigerant flow rate of 40 L/h, with R22 COP value of 5.818 and R407C COP value of 4.875.

Abstract

Abstract: The human needs of refrigeration system have created a tool that called a refrigerator. Refrigerator/cooling machine have a component which have a very important role in the refrigeration system that is refrigerant. Refrigerant that still widely used for cooling machine until now is the refrigerant R22. Using R22 refrigerant can cause environmental problems such as damage to the ozone layer and global warming. Therefore, it needs a substitution refrigerant which is more friendly for environment which one of them is R407C refrigerant. In this study, using a cooling machine with water- cooled condenser and the flowrate that use is 20 L/h, 40 L/h, 80 L/h and 120 L/h. The variables that measured in this study is temperature (T1, T2, T3, T4, T10, T11), pressure (P1, P2, P3, P4), and ampere. This study aims to get the test results using refrigerants R22 and R407C. The processing data of the test result include refrigeration capacity, compressor power and COP. The results obtained have that cooling machine which use R22 refrigerants have a better COP than using R407C refrigerant. This is happen because the power needed by the compressor to compress R407C refrigerant to flow in the system is greater than using R22 refrigerant.
