Abstract

This quantitative study investigates the relationship between democratic parenting style and school readiness among first-grade students at SD Negeri Sidokare 2 Sidoarjo. The research aims to examine whether a correlation exists between the two variables. Data were collected through questionnaires and the Nijmeegse Schoolbekwaamheids Test (NST). The sample comprised 66 students selected using accidental sampling. The data analysis involved Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient in SPSS 26.0. The results indicate a significant positive correlation (rxy = 0.662, p = 0.000) between democratic parenting style and school readiness. Higher levels of democratic parenting style correspond to higher levels of school readiness among first-grade students. These findings imply that parents who adopt a democratic parenting style contribute to their children's preparedness for elementary school. The study suggests that schools provide training on the importance of parenting styles, particularly democratic parenting, to foster children's potential as they enter elementary school. Highlight: Positive correlation: The study reveals a significant positive correlation (rxy = 0.662, p = 0.000) between democratic parenting style and school readiness among first-grade students. Impact of democratic parenting: Higher levels of democratic parenting style are associated with higher levels of school readiness among children entering elementary school. Implications for schools and parents: The findings emphasize the importance of implementing democratic parenting styles to foster children's readiness for school. Schools should provide training to parents on the benefits of democratic parenting to optimize children's potential as they transition to elementary school. Abstract

This quantitative comparative study aims to examine the differences in academic self-efficacy among upper grade students in elementary schools in Sidoarjo, specifically in relation to tutoring. The research population consisted of fourth and fifth-grade students from Larangan State Elementary School and Muhammadiyah 2 Kedungbanteng Elementary School, with a total of 185 subjects. The Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, comprising 27 items, was used to measure self-perceived abilities. Data analysis involved the two independent sample t-test technique. The results indicated no significant difference (p > 0.5) in academic self-efficacy between students who received tutoring and those who did not. The Cronbach's Alpha test demonstrated high reliability (0.890) for the academic self-efficacy scale. This study highlights that tutoring did not have a significant impact on the academic self-efficacy of upper grade students. These findings provide implications for educators and parents in considering alternative strategies to enhance students' academic self-efficacy beyond traditional tutoring approaches. Highlight: No significant difference: The study reveals that there is no significant difference in academic self-efficacy between students who receive tutoring and those who do not. Reliable scale: The academic self-efficacy scale used in the study demonstrates high reliability, with a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.890. Implications for practice: The findings suggest that tutoring may not be the sole determinant of academic self-efficacy in upper grade students, prompting educators and parents to consider alternative strategies to enhance students' belief in their abilities. Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and prosocial behavior among students at SMA Negeri 1 Taman. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, with a sample of 290 students selected using stratified random sampling from the total population of 1,118 students. Data collection involved psychological scales, and Spearman's rho was used for data analysis. The results revealed a significant correlation (p < 0.05) between emotional intelligence and prosocial behavior among the students, with a correlation coefficient of 0.951, indicating a strong positive correlation. The majority of students demonstrated high levels of both emotional intelligence (57.6%) and prosocial behavior (60.3%). These findings suggest that an increase in emotional intelligence positively influences prosocial behavior, while a decrease in emotional intelligence leads to a decline in prosocial behavior. The implications of this research provide a basis for understanding students' emotional intelligence and prosocial behavior levels, allowing for interventions to enhance emotional intelligence and maximize prosocial behavior. Future studies should consider increasing the sample size and exploring additional factors, such as mood, genetic factors, situational influences, and personality, which may impact prosocial behavior. Highlight: Significant correlation: The study establishes a significant correlation between emotional intelligence and prosocial behavior among high school students, indicating a strong positive relationship. Impact of emotional intelligence: Higher levels of emotional intelligence contribute to an increase in prosocial behavior, while a decrease in emotional intelligence leads to a decline in prosocial behavior. Implications for intervention: The findings provide a basis for developing interventions to enhance students' emotional intelligence and maximize their prosocial behavior. Strategies such as organizing study groups and fostering empathy towards the environment can be implemented to improve emotional intelligence. keyword: Emotional Intelligence, Prosocial Behavior, High School Students, Correlation, Quantitative Study

Abstract

This qualitative study aims to compare the recording of payments manually and through a system at the school payment receivables level. The research took place in Sidoarjo and employed data obtained from interviews, observations, and documentation. The results showed that there are both advantages and disadvantages to each recording process, and the two systems cannot be equated. While manual recording provides a backup in case of system errors, the system facilitates monitoring of the total level of bad debt by the school treasurer. The study concludes that there is a significant difference in the recording of payments between the manual and system-based approaches. The findings have implications for school administrators and treasurers in deciding which recording method to use for efficient payment management. Highlight: Different recording methods: The study compares manual and system-based recording of school payments, highlighting the differences and trade-offs between the two approaches. Interrelatedness of manual and system recording: While each method has its advantages and disadvantages, they are interconnected, providing backup and ease of monitoring for school treasurers. Implications for payment management: The findings have implications for efficient payment management in schools, requiring considerations of reliability, efficiency, and control of debt levels. Abstract

This quantitative correlational study aims to examine the relationship between religiosity and work stress among teachers in SDN Krembung District. The sample consisted of 148 teachers selected using incidental sampling. Data analysis included normality test, linearity test, and simple linear regression analysis using the SPSS 20 for Windows program. The findings revealed a negative relationship between religiosity and work stress among SDN teachers in Krembung District, with a significant correlation coefficient of -0.205 (p = 0.006 < 0.05). These results support the researcher's hypothesis, indicating that higher levels of religiosity are associated with lower work stress. However, it is important to note that religiosity explains only 3.5% of the variation in work stress, with 96.5% influenced by other factors not examined in this study. The limitations of this research include the pandemic-related time constraints and the focus solely on the variable of religiosity without considering other potential correlates of work stress. The implications of this study suggest the importance of promoting religiosity among teachers through activities such as collective prayers before classes, weekly istiqosah (spiritual gathering), and annual nature contemplation. These activities can help reduce work stress and inspire new teaching ideas, benefiting both teachers and schools in SDN Krembung District. Highlight: Negative relationship: The study found a negative relationship between religiosity and work stress among teachers in SDN Krembung District. Sample: The study included 148 teachers from SDN in Krembung sub-district, providing valuable insights into the local context. Implications: Promoting religiosity through collective prayers, istiqosah sessions, and nature contemplation can help reduce work stress and generate new teaching ideas for teachers in SDN Krembung District.
