Abstract

The objective of this researchis to identify the characteristic of Srikandi Kuning, Bisma, Sukmaraga, Lamuru and Arjuna varieties, and their potentions to be made as wet corn noodle.  Corn noodles were processed using forming extruder model MS9, Multifunctional noodle modality machine, Guangdong Henglian Food Machine Co., Ltd., China.  Bisma, Lamuru and Arjuna have 27,14-27,68% of amylose content.  The best quality of corn noodle was processed from 100 mesh of corn flour.  The result showed that the best processing condition was obtained at moisture of 70%  and adding 2% of sodium chloride.  Under this condition, corn noodles (Bisma, Lamuru and Arjuna varieties) has elongation between 80,32 – 95,43%, and cooking loss between 5,06 – 5,66%.Key words : corn noodle, forming extruder, amylose content

Abstract

This research was conducted to study the effect of probiotic bacteria application through artificial feed on growth performance of tiger shrimp. The research was carried out for 42 days with four treatments and three replications, those were control, SKT-b (feed + SKT-b probiotic), 1 UB (feed + 1 UB probiotic) and commercial (feed + commercial probiotic). Feed and probiotic bacteria were mixed in ratio of 3:1 (weight : volume) by adding 3 % of white egg as a binder.  Then the test feed was analyzed by proximate analyses and compared by using control feed. Tiger shrimps with initial weight of 0.04 ± 0.005 g were reared in 50 cm x 40 cm  x 40 cm aquaria at the density of 15 shrimps per aquarium.  Feeding was carried out four times a day at 08.00, 12.00, 16.00, and 22.00. The weight of tiger shrimp were observed once every 2 weeks, whereas the water quality and the total abundance of bacteria in media were monitored at the beginning, middle and end of the research.The result showed that theadministration of the probiotic bacteria through artificial feed produced better growth rate than control. Application of 1 UB probiotic gave the best results by producing 9.03% growth rate and 1.35feed conversion ratio. Whereas, survival rates for all treatments were not significantly different from the range of values between 91.11% - 97.78%.Keywords: probiotic bacteria, feed, tiger shrimp

Abstract

The study was aimed to examine the storage effect of rennet extracted from abomasum of local sheep on the texture and organoleptic qualities of cheese including color, flavor, salty taste, and bitter taste. Ten samples of crude rennet extract were divided into two groups which each five samples were stored for 2 weeks and 24 weeks  respectively. The rennet extract was then used as milk clotting agent in cheese making process. Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus bulgaricus were used as starter in those processes. The fresh cheese was coated with beeswax and ripened for 20 days in refrigerator. The ripened cheese was analyzed for the quality. The texture was analyzed by using warner blatzer shear (INSTRON®) and the data were evaluated with completely randomized design (CRD). The result showed that both time storage of rennet extract were not significantly influence on cheese texture (P<0,05). The organoleptic tests of color, flavor, salty taste, and bitter taste were rated by 25 panelists and then the data were analyzed with Friedman test. The time storage of rennet extract resulted variation on organoleptic quality of cheese.  Descriptive statistical analyses provided information that each panelist has varied preferences on cheese samples. It can be concluded that the storage of rennet extract had no significantly influence on the texture of cheese and provided variation  on organoleptic test. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to calculate the financial analysis of seaweed cultivation operation and count the number of value-added processing karaginan flour mill in the District of Southeast Maluku Regency Kei Kecil. The method used in this study is descriptive with qualitative and quantitative approaches. Determination of the location of the study was conducted purposively with its population was seaweed farmers from ten villages in Kei Kecil as the villages of seaweed production centers. The method of analysis used is the operation analysis of financial and added value analysis method Hayami. The results showed that the cultivation of seaweed and flour mills karaginan feasible to develop. The ratio of added value of 9.05% and in 1997 Hubeis magnitude of the ratio of value added is calculated in accordance with the criteria of low added value ratio <15%.Keywords: Financial Analysis, Added-value, Seaweed, Flour Caragenan

Abstract

IPB Diploma Program has alumni that are broadly spread throughout Indonesia. Tracer study is always conducted progressively each year. Other methods conducted include questionaire via post, email, mailing list, graduation ceremony, alumni meeting, etc. By evaluating tracer study, some innovations are needed to increase its activities. Regarding the advancement of web based technology and internet media that has gone significant in Indonesia, one innovation for tracer study is a website facility which can be accessed by alumni, assumed that all alumni have internet access. IPB Diploma Program Tracer Study Information System is built on the basis of web technology. This system is aimed to increase data collectivity and gives out information, in form of report with default format prepared by IPB Diploma Program. This research yields an IPB Diploma Program Tracer Study Information System which already helps alumni and the data collection of user satisfaction. IPB Diploma Program Tracer Study Information System has a feature to show report which makes alumni information and user satisfaction data to be easily obtained. The information shown is in the form of graphic and tabular data. On the other hand, this system is also equipped with alumni searching facility to track whether an alumni has already participated in tracer study activity.Keyword : Information system, tracer study, website facility

Abstract

E-learning method provides the ease and smoothness of the teaching-learning process for both students and lecturers. With e-learning methods, teachers can increase the intensity of interactive communication with students outside of official class hours. E-learning methods provide flexibility to the faculty to provide access to students to gain scientific references related to the course that may not be obtained during the hours of lecture and lab activities. These references may be scientific papers, popular articles or electronic journals.   This would be particularly useful for students, because in addition to strengthening the understanding of students for each subject of the course, a reference of the international journals will greatly help to expand the students’knowledge, as well as improve their English. So hopefully in the future, IPB Diploma graduates, especially those who earn Programming Language course, will have high competitiveness in the global competition which is increasingly filled by graduates of foreign universities.Keyword : e-learning, online, course, learning methods.

Abstract

The implementation of conventional accounting system is based on the accounting records which are done manually (paper work). In contrast, the implementation of computer-based accounting system is an impact of the development of science and technology. Therefore, the manually accounting records can be replaced by computersin terms of data processing of daily transactions to financial reports. The purposes of this research are firstly to determine the implementation of conventional accounting system at UD. Mekarsari.  Secondly is to determine the implementation of computer-based accounting system in PD. Cimanggu Jaya. Lastly is to compare  those two accounting systems which have been applied to the two companies. The difference of those two models of accounting system can be seen from the output of the accounting records. All variables or sub systems that run on those two trading companies with different accounting recording system is the study of assessment of the implementation between conventional accounting system and computer accounting systems so that two accounting systems can be compared. Last stepistoprovidere commendations for improvement in the implementation ofthe accounting system for more efficiency and effectiveness when applied in the trading companies. Based on the results and discussion, it can be summarized as follows: 1). The application of conventional accounting systems at UD. Mekar Sari is still simple.   2). The application of computer-based accounting system at PD. Cimanggu Jaya has formed separate functions, all transactions are recorded in the printed serial numbered transaction receipt, and has done journal recording to generate financial reports using computer applications ie Microsoft Office Excel. 3). The comparison between the conventional accounting system and computer-based accounting system on timber commodity trading company shows that the conventional accounting system is more simple, their functions have no optimal performance, and the application of internal control is still lacking, so the company’s financial statements has not been realized.Keyword : Accounting System,Conventional Accounting System, Computer Based Accounting System

Abstract

The objective of this research was to optimize the sorghum noodle processing with two variables i.e. extruder temperature (80, 85, 90oC) and screw speed (10, 15, 20 Hz). The optimum process was chosen by using Response Surface Methodology (RSM), based on 2 parameters, i.e. cooking loss and elongation. The result of this research showed that the optimum processing condition with desirability of 0.736, was resulted from the combination of the extruder temperature of 85oC and screw speed of 20 Hz. The verification showed that the sorghum noodles from this optimum condition had cooking loss of 11.87 %, and elongation of 234.84.  Keywords: noodle, sorghum, optimization, twin screw extruder, RSM

Abstract

The success of Eucheuma cottonii cultivation in the Gulf Kotania, West Seram, Maluku was influenced by various factors, one of them was the existence of filament algae. This study aims to identify filament algae patching on the thalus E. cottonii, the influence of filament algae biomass on specific growth rate (SGR) of E. cottonii in trial raft and the differences of filament algae biomass patching on the thalus E. cottonii cultivated by local people in three different locations. The first study was conducted in trial raft, then the identifications and measurements of filament algae biomass patching on the thalus and the measurements of E. cottonii biomass were performed on day 34 and 50. In the second study, the identifications and measurements of filament algae biomass patching on the thalus E. cottonii has been done on the three difference locations where E. cottonii has been cultivated by local people. The results showed that Lyngbia sp. was a species of filament algae found in thalus E. cottonii in which the algae patch on. The presence of filament algae on the thalus with biomass ratio 1:81, did not affect significantly on SGR of E. cottonii in trial raft. Meanwhile, filament algae biomass obtained from three different locations showed a significant difference, where the filament algae biomass in Wael Village was the highest.Keywords: Filament Alga, Lyngbia sp., Eucheuma cottonii, Gulf Kotania

Abstract

Sweet potato contains non digestible oligosaccharides that functions as prebiotics. The processing will affect the chemical composition of sweet potato. This study aimed to find the best preparation method of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) that can produce the highest oligosaccharide extract and test the prebiotic potential of the extract to support the growth of bacteria SKT-b which has been shown to act as a probiotic for shrimp. Trial I: test the preparation method of sweet potato to obtain the best oligosaccharides extract. The treatment consisted of three different preparation methods, raw potato flour, raw potato flour steamed, and steamed potato flour. Oligosaccharides from potato flour of each preparation method was then extracted and analyzed using High Performance Liquid Chromatography. Potato oligosaccharides extract from best preparation method, was dried in freeze dryer and used for later experiments. Trial II: test the potato oligosaccharides extract as prebiotic in supporting the growth of probiotic bacteria SKT-b (in vitro). This experiment was conducted to determine the combinations of prebiotic dose with inoculants concentrations that result the best growth of bacteria SKT-b. Liquid culture bacteria SKT-b concentrations of 107, 108, 109, and 1010 cfu ml-1 were cultured in sterile sea water mixed with prebiotics concentrations of 0, 1, 2 and 3% v/v. The extract of steamed potato flour contains the highest oligosaccharides, and may act as prebiotics to support the growth of probiotic bacteria SKT-b. Prebiotics 3% and probiotics SKT-b 1010 cfu ml-1 was the best sinbiotic combination, which showed the highest growth of probiotic bacteria.Keywords: oligosaccharides, probiotics SKT-b, sinbiotic, sweet potato
