This research was conducted by reviewing research journals related to passive voice teaching and analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the used method. The result of this study is a recapitulation of conducted research regarding passive voice learning for the last 5 five years, completing the advantages and disadvantages of each method. So that, later the English teacher can choose which method is the most appropriate for their students. On the other hand, other researchers can also choose which method needs further research.

Abstract

This research focuses on examining the similariry index of English Bachelor’s theses using Turnitin. The research which focuses on students’ academic writing is aimed to calculate the average and median from similarity index percentage identified by Turnitin; to examine the main sources of the similarities; and to identify the forms of the similarities from the highest main source. This study uses quantitative approach with descriptive method. This study shows the average and median from similarity index are both below 30%; and the main sources of the similarities are mostly websites. The forms of the similarities from the highest main source are sentences and even full paragraphs. The similarities identified by Turnitin cannot be all determined as plagiarism, since Turnitin only finds sources from digital repository that look similar. Turnitin is useful for the first step to maintain academic integrity in writing scientific papers at an institution.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the mechanism for implementing the Compliance Risk Management model of the supervisory function and its success rate on corporate tax revenue at KPP Pratama Jakarta Cakung. Efforts are being made to improve the supervision of tax revenues from each KPP area to the DJP environment, one of which is the improvement of a tool called Compliance Risk Management with the Circular Letter of the Director General of Taxes Number SE-39/PJ/2021. In increasing tax revenue, the supervisory function is important to find out more about taxpayers that need to be researched. Therefore, an overview of the Compliance Risk Map is needed that displays the entire Corporate Taxpayer by categorizing it into several levels of risk. This is expected to provide justice and equal distribution of the supervisory function carried out by tax officers to all taxpayers. Data collection techniques used 3 (three methods, namely semi-structured in-depth interviews, non-participatory observation, and documentation. Data interpretation was carried out in stages starting from collecting data, reducing data, to final conclusions. The results showed that the application of CRM in KPP Pratama Jakarta Cakung had an impact convenience, especially in carrying out the maximum supervisory function for tax officers. But on the other hand, tax revenue from 2020 to 2021 is still far from reaching the expected revenue target. This shows the need for a re-examination of the problems that continue to be faced by KPP Pratama Jakarta Cakung, and improve other CRM functions to be able to run in balance and produce better results.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the company's innovation ability in maintaining business after the COVID-19 pandemic with a grounded theory approach. This study uses a qualitative research method with a grounded theory approach as a model in the study. Researchers collected data using semi-structured interviews, field observations, document analysis, and literature studies. The results obtained by researchers are that the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted the economy of CV Dummy Solid's company, the COVID-19 pandemic has become something that suppresses and threatens the survival of the company. The impacts experienced by companies due to the COVID-19 pandemic include financial losses, reduction in the number of employees, rolling employees, delays in giving bonuses, reduced production quantities, and savings in raw materials. By conducting a SWOT analysis and researching with a grounded theory approach, it was found that the company's innovation was the company's strategy to survive the COVID-19 pandemic. When the innovation is successfully carried out by CV Dummy Solid, then CV Dummy Solid is considered to have the ability to innovate. From this grounded theory approach, a new understanding can be found: “The company's innovation ability arises because of pressure from the COVID-19 pandemic, which then arises because of this opportunity and strength from companies that are used to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic".

Abstract

This review study identified factors that instructors of English as an additional language (EAL) could consider when designing peer interaction-based activities to promote learners' use of effective communication strategies (CSs). In addition, we investigated how the identified factors might benefit inclusive EAL classrooms where learners with special needs participate in peer interactions. This review study aimed to equip EAL instructors with information that could be considered to promote the use of effective CSs by learners in the classroom. To follow the guidelines of the narrative literature review method outlined by Green et al., (2006), articles were extracted from the ERIC, Linguistics, Education, and Arts and Humanities databases, and the information from the articles was reviewed to answer two research questions. Our review identified two factors that EAL instructors should consider: the personal factors of learners and the types of tasks. The first factor includes learners' levels of proficiency, level of anxiety, as well as self-efficacy, learning attitude, and gender, while the second factor suggested three types of tasks that could elicit the use of CSs in classrooms: information gap, reasoning gap, and opinion gap activities. Our discussion led to the conclusion that assigning peers to college/post-secondary learners with autism, based on their personal profiles and elaborating on the instructions for assigned tasks, would better prepare them to participate in peer interaction-based activities in the EAL classroom. In addition, it was suggested that future research investigate inclusive EAL classrooms that include learners with special needs.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse the effect of sensory marketing through aroma and flavour toward the forming of consumer’s perception in Roti O’s Store in KRL commuter line Station at South Jakarta. This research is using quantitative method with 100 respondents as a sample. Slovin formula is used for sample drawing. This research passed the classic assumption test, in which the data is proved to have a normal distribution 0,200 > 0,050. The regression model Y = 1.835 + 1.938X1 – 0,621X2 + e shows the model is feasible to use. Based on partial regression analysis, aroma as an independent variable contributed to affect the consumer perception for 4,20%. Meanwhile flavour as an independent variable contributed to affect the consumer perception for 4,00%. Aroma and flavour simultaneously affecting the forming of consumer perception for 8,4%. The other 91,6% is being affected by other variables that are not being included in this research. The result shows that aroma does affect the forming of consumer perception and flavour doesn’t affect the forming of consumer perception. This research shows that aroma could be used for marketing strategy to build an impulse on consumer’s olfactory.
THE SOCIOLOGICAL CONCEPT OF THE STRANGER AND ITS METHODOLOGICAL USE IN LITERATURE Kay Cook

Abstract

This article aims to demonstrate the methodological approach I took on my research about the sociological term “Stranger” and its expression in literary terms. I deconstruct the term “Stranger”, since it was coined in 1950, analyzing sociological and cultural theories which address the concept: foreigner, immigrant, alien, outsider, pariah, marginal. Although all these deal with the point of view of identity, the definition of Stranger lies primarily in the difference between the “other” versus a group. This binary thinking can be conditioned by geography or bring about discomfort as the Stranger is seen by the group as someone who does not belong to their circle. I found these concepts reflected in post-colonial novels, where notions of identity and the Stranger mingle, in the struggle between the dominant outsider and the submissive colonized people. Since Stranger may be an acquired condition and its status is not rigid, for it is a given characteristic rather than a natural one, I followed a methodological cross-cultural comparison of the term Stranger in both a diachronic and synchronic perspectives. This project deals with cross-cultural identities and contributes to highlight the notion of the Stranger in literature.
