Abstract

Abstract While some misconceptions already believed by students, it will resist changing. Therefore, the earlier diagnosis of students’ misconceptions becomes crucial. This study determinedthe misconceptions experienced by students in energy and evaluated the use of OrderedMultiple Choice (OMC) and Reasoning Multiple Choice (RMC) test to measure it. Thesample in this study was two classes at SMA N 1 Samarinda that was taken by purposivesampling technique. The samples were had relatively similar capability in physics, taughtby the same teacher with same teaching method. From the result, it is found that there aresome misconceptions experienced by the students. In the first class, percentagemisconception measured by OMC are level 1 "Naive concept" of 10%, level 2 "Hybridconcept" as much as 36%. In the second class, percentage of misconception measured byRMC is 22%. The OMC test was able to detect misconceptions on students generally andclassified two common types of misconceptions: naive and hybrid. While the RMC testwas able to show the misconception that occurred in each student in-depth because studentswrote their reasons independently. Keywords: ordered multiple choice, reasoninng multiple choice, misconception, energy

Abstract

Abstract The ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) magnetic field is a spectrum of electromagneticwaves that located at frequencies less than 300 Hz and classified as non ionizingradiation. The ELF magnetic field is utilized in many case, one of them in the case offood, it is because the magnetic field can be applied to inactivate pathogenicmicroorganisms that cause food easily damaged or rotten. One of the factors in food thatcan be a reference related to microbial growth is pH (Hydrogen potential). This studyaims to determine the effect of ELF magnetic field exposure in the preservation of milkfishto the pH value. This study involved 21 samples of fresh milkfish, with the selection ofcontrol and experiment class. The experimental sample was exposed to an ELF magneticfield with an intensity of 730.56 μT and 877.37 μT with exposure time of 2 x 30 and 2 x45 minutes. pH measurement using pH meter. The result of this research is ELF magneticfield exposure affects the pH value of milkfish, which can inhibit the increment of pHvalue. The effective dose in inhibiting pH value is ELF magnetic field exposure with730.56 μT during 2 x 30 minutes. Keywords: Magnetic Field Extremely Low Frequency (ELF), Preservation, Milkfish

Abstract

Abstract Physics learning is an effort to improve problem solving ability. This studyaimed at determining high school students’ ability in solving the physics nationalexamination problem based on the stages of IDEAL model on static electricitymaterials. By knowing that ability, it can be a motivation to improve problem solvingability of physics national examination to obtain better results. The research methodused is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study is last year students of SMAAmbulu and SMAN Balung. Based on this research, we can know the student’s abilityon identify the problem stage in SMAN Ambulu and SMAN Balung was categorizedas very good of 95.60% and 85.90%. The define represent the problem wascategorized as very good and good of 93.54% and 82.14%. The explore possiblestrategies stage in SMAN Ambulu was categorized as very good by 87.74%, while inSMAN Balung was categorized as sufficient of 68.88%. The act on the strategiesstage in SMAN Ambulu was categorized as very good, and in SMAN Balung wascategorized as good. Whereas, the look back and evaluate the effect stage in SMANAmbulu and SMAN Balung was categorized as good of 74.26% and 50.52%.Key words: Physics, IDEAL model, solve problems

Abstract

ABSTRACTOne of the goals of learning physics in schools is to improve students' criticalthinking skill. Critical thinking ability is the ability of the students in the process ofthinking in solving a problem in detail. By knowing the level of critical thinking it self, students can do introspection and have the desire and motivation to change for thebetter. In addition, students can also prepare for future exams such as nationalexamination as well as college entrance exam. As for the teacher, by knowing the levelof critical thinking skill of the students, the physics teachers can make it as a referenceto determine the learning strategy that will be used next. Therefore, it is necessary toidentify the level of critical thinking ability. The research method used is descriptiveresearch. The subjects of the study were students of grade XI IPA SMA. The datacollection method used is a test of description. The results of the study showed thatthe level of critical thinking ability of 18.63% of students were on a very highcategory, 42.16% of students were on a high category, 29.41% of students were in thecategory medium, 9.80% of students were on a low category, and no students were invery low category. Keywords: Physics, fluid dynamic, critical thinking

Abstract

ABSTRACT Education plays a role and a very important factor in human life. Since formaleducation applies new curriculum which is curriculum 2013, it causes the students tohave less capability to make the argumentations toward the learning material. Thefacts on the real situation show that the ability to make argumentations about thesubject of physics on the concept of thermodynamics among students is still very low.So a scientific argument test is needed to find out how well the students’ understandingof physics material. Furthermore, by looking at how the students make theargumentations related to thermodynamic material, it will make the teacherunderstands the level students’ understanding of thermodynamic material. The resultof data analysis and discussion concluded that the percentage of of the level ofstudents’ scientific argumentation ability on the concept of thermodynamics in SMAX has the highest average of 41.60% based on indicator of argumentation’s proofwhich reaches the High criterion (T) and the highest average level of 51.96% basedon indicator of argumentation’s justification which meets the Medium criteria (S).
