Abstract

Determinants of HIV testing behavior among pregnant women in public health center Bandarharjo Semarang PurposeThis research aimed to determine factors associated with HIV testing behavior among pregnant women at the public health center Bandarharjo Semarang.MethodsThis research was a descriptive analytic observational study with a matched case control design. Samples were pregnant women at the health center in Bandarharjo Semarang who have been offered an HIV test totaling 90 samples. Samples in the control group were matched according to trimester age of pregnancy to the case group with ratio of 1:1. Samples were enlisted by consecutive sampling. The research instrument used was a questionnaire. The data analysis consisted of univariable, bivariable comparisons using the McNemar test, and multivariable using conditional logistic regression tests.ResultsNo significant correlations were found, but practical information about HIV (OR 2.35; CI95% 0.801-6.9) and stigma (OR 2.16; CI95% 0.722-6.479) were related to HIV testing behavior.ConclusionPractical information about HIV and stigma are correlated to HIV testing behavior.

Abstract

Quality of life among people living with HIV/AIDS based on criteria diagnosis and other factors in Surakarta PurposeThis study aimed to determine the quality of life among people living with HIV/AIDS based on the criteria for diagnosis and other factors.MethodsThis study was conducted in the VCT clinic hospital of Dr. Moewardi. The population was HIV-positive patients with antiretroviral therapy. Data collection conducted through medical records and interview to patients. ResultsOut of a total of 89 respondents, 66.29% were males and 71.91% were aged between 26-45 years. We found significant correlations for diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, opportunistic infections, time since HIV diagnosis, duration of ARV therapy, social support, modes of transport, sex, age, and marital status with the quality of life. Multivariate analysis obtained by each variable showed the strongest association with the quality of life was time since diagnosis, social support and duration of ARV therapy. ConclusionThe quality of life was better for those who have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS ≥ 32 months, with social support, and who have been undergoing antiretroviral therapy ≥ 29 months. Improved counseling in the early days of ARV therapy is necessary to always maintain the treatment and provide support for their social life.

Abstract

Depression and the quality of life among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Sardjito hospitalPurposeThe purpose of this study was to assess the association between depression and quality of life among pa­tients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Dr. Sardjito Hospital.MethodsTwo questionnaires were distributed among 152 patients between May and June 2016 using the Beck depression inventory and diabetes quality of life clinical trial. Univariable, bivariable, and multivariable linear regression analyses were used to explore associations.ResultsThis study found quality of life was 67.37. There was association between depression and quality of life, while sex, compli­cations, age and education level were not significantly correlated. The simultaneous influence of the variable of depression, work and duration of illness to mean of quality of life equaled to 28%.ConclusionComprehensive services are needed to reduce depres­sion and improve the quality of life among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. People suffering from type 2 diabetes who do not experience depression have a better quality of life than people with type 2 diabetes who experience stress.

Abstract

The correlation of family smoking habits at home with the incidence of pneumonia among children in Bantul district in 2015PurposeThis study aimed to analyze the association between family smoking habits at home with the incidence of pneumonia in children.MethodsThis research was a case control study involving 160 children in the district of Bantul (80 with pneumonia and 80 without pneumonia).ResultsThere was an association between family smoking habits at home with the incidence of pneumonia in children at Bantul. Furthermore, it was found the other variables that had a association with the incidence of pneumonia in children at Bantul District included the use of mosquito coils, nutritional status of children and crowded household. The variables of maternal education, immunization status, income parents, history of exclusive breastfeeding, history of vitamin A, the type of household fuel, the location of the kitchen, the type of house walls and the activity of burning trash were not associated with the incidence of child pneumonia in the district of Bantul.ConclusionIt is necessary to conduct health promotion in all households about the impact of family smoking habits on children, especially in a crowded household. Also, there is need to supervise the family members who have the habit of smoking so the are not smoking inside the house, especially in families with children. It is equally important to repair any lowered nutrition status in children.

Abstract

Determinants of instant noodles consumption among students in Sriwijaya universityPurposeThis study aimed to explore the factors that influence the instant noodle consumption among students in Sriwijaya university. MethodsThis research was a qualitative study with phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 20 informants. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The data collection was conducted from June-September 2015.ResultsThis study showed that individual factors are the most influential factors, including time constraints, taste, aroma, and prices which were supported by the social environmental factors, including the pattern of family relationships and patterns of friendship. Physical environmental factors included easy access and sufficient availability of instant noodles and macro environmental factors including the lack of campus policies, social norms in the society as well as the advertising effect on the consumption of instant noodles with new flavors. ConclusionStudents receive advice about diet from educational promotional efforts through seminars and social media.

Abstract

Determinants of smoking cessation behaviour in people with hypertensionPurposeThis study aimed to determine the factors associated with smoking cessation behavior in patients with hypertension in Sleman district.MethodsThis quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The subjects of this study were all patients with hypertension with a history of smoking. There were those subjects who had stopped smoking and those still smoking totaling 120 respondents. The sample population was the total sample that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis was done by bivariate and multivariate analysis using chi square and logistic regression tests.ResultsThis study found that factors related to smoking cessation behavior in hypertensive patients in Sleman district were education with PR 1.56 (95% CI 1.111-2.274; p=0.004) and history of other disease with PR 2.7 (95% CI 1.209-6.031; p=0.007). Age, occupation, marital status, economic status, and health professional advice were not related to smoking cessation behavior in hypertensive patients in Sleman district.ConclusionHealth and community institutions are expected to support hypertensive patients to quit smoking by advising them of the health risks. This study showed people who quit smoking, may start smoking again.

Abstract

Tujuan:  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor yang berhubungan dengan kejadian kanker serviks di RSUP Dr. Sardjito Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.Metode: Studi  case control dilakukan pada bulan Juli-Oktober 2016. Sebanyak  105 kasus dan 105 kontrol dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini. Kasus adalah pasien yang menderita kanker serviks berdasarkan diagnosis dokter , dan kontrol adalah pasien yang tidak menderita kanker serviks. Pengambilan sampel dengan teknik consecutive sampling. Data dianalisis dengan uji chi-square dan regresi logistik.  Hasil:  Faktor yang berhubungan dengan kejadian kanker serviks di RSUP Dr. Sardjito adalah variabel usia pertama kali berhubungan seksual ≤ 20 tahun dengan aOR sebesar 2,41 (95% CI = 1,35-4,29; p=0,003) dan penggunaan kontrasepsi jenis oral/pil dengan aOR sebesar 3,40 (95% CI = 1,46-7,92; p=0,004), sedangkan jumlah pasangan,paritas, pembalut, sirkumsisi dan merokok tidak berhubungan dengan kejadian kanker serviks.Implikasi praktis: Wanita yang belum aktif seksual dapat melakukan vaksinasi HPV. Perlu menggunakan kondom ketika berhubungan seksual. Bagi wanita usia 30-49 tahun (aktif seksual) diharapkan untuk dapat mengikuti program deteksi dini kanker serviks dengan metode inspeksi visual asam asetat (IVA) yang sekarang bisa dilakukan di Puskesmas dan menjalankan pemeriksaan papsmear minimal 1 kali dalam setahun.

Abstract

Risk factors of cervicitis among female sex workers in sexual transmitted infection mobile servicePurposeThis study aimed to identify risk factors of cervicitis among female sex workers in the district of Cilacap. MethodsThis study used a cross-sectional design. Total of respondents were 147 female sex workers who participated in the mobile sexual transmitted infection services. Demographic characteristic and risk factor data were collected by interviews using a structured questionnaire. Diagnosis of cervicitis was obtained by laboratory test with cervix swab. Data were analyzed using Poisson regression test with robust variance estimators.ResultsPrevalence of cervicitis among female sex workers in the district of Cilacap were 70.75%. Multivariate analysis showed that the risk factors of cervicitis among female sex worker were: age ≤24 years old, income, childbirth history, number of clients per week, and inconsistent of condoms use.ConclusionsResults showed the need to increase awareness of condom use among female sex workers through health promotion and counseling in mobile sexual transmitted infection services by the teams of sexual transmitted infection clinics. Potential targets for outreach health promotions and counseling are younger female sex worker (≤30 years old).

Abstract

ABSTRACKBackground: Workers have an obligation to use personal protective equipment at working area. The personal protective equipment has been determined based on risk but many workers of PT. Borneo Melintang Buana Eksport do not use the required protective equipment. This study aims to determine the effect of knowledge, availability, supervision and sanctions toward the use of personal protective equipment.Method: This research using quantitative method with cross sectional study design and 68 people as the subject. The instruments of this study are questionnaires and observation sheets. The independent variables were knowledge, availability, supervision and sanction while the dependent variable was the use of personal protective equipment. The statistical test used were chi-square and fisher exact with alpha 5%.Results: The results showed that there was a statistically significant effect between controlling the use of personal protective equipment (p value < 0.05) and no statistically significant effect between knowledge, availability and sanction on the use of personal protective equipment (p value > 0.05).Conclusions: There is a statistically significant effect between supervision toward personal protective equipment usage. Supervision needs to be maintained and improved by involving the workers as the supervisors.Keywords: Knowledge, Availability, Supervision, Sanction, Use of Personal Protective Equipment

Abstract

TujuanTujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi pengetahuan manajemen dan hubungannya dengan karakteristik individu, kuliah tatap muka dan pengalaman belajar lapangan.MetodePenelitian observasional menggunakan rancangan cross sectional study. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester akhir FKM Unsrat. Alat ukur menggunakan kuesioner. Variabel bebas adalah karakteristik individu dan proses pembelajaran, variabel terikat adalah pengetahuan mahasiswa tentang manajemen. Analisis data menggunakan analisis univariat, bivariat dengan chi-square dan multivariat dengan regresi logistik.Hasil- Mahasiswa yang memiliki pengetahuan baik tentang manajemen sebanyak 48,54%. Determinan di tingkat individu yang signifikan terhadap pengetahuan manajemen mahasiswa adalah kepuasaan mahasiswa terhadap perkuliahan (OR: 2,1), pekerjaan orang tua (OR: 2,9) serta jabatan yang diinginkan (OR: 0,5). - Kuliah tatap muka dan pengalaman belajar lapangan tidak berhubungan dengan pengetahuan manajemen.Implikasi praktisPerbaikan dalam pengelolaan kunjungan ke Dinas Kesehatan akan dapat mendorong penguasaan fungsi manajemen mahasiswa.KeaslianMahasiswa memperlihatkan variasi pengetahuan tentang bentuk praktik manajemen. Pengetahuan fungsi manajemen memiliki hubungan positif dengan kepuasan dalam proses perkuliahan, status pekerjaan orang tua dan memiliki hubungan negatif dengan keinginan bekerja di Dinas Kesehatan. Mahasiswa yang berkeinginan bekerja di Dinas Kesehatan justru memiliki pengetahuan yang lebih buruk daripada yang tidak ingin bekerja di Dinas Kesehatan. Kuliah tatap muka dan pengalaman belajar lapangan tidak memiliki hubungan dengan pengetahuan manajemen mahasiswa.
