Gadjah Mada Journal of Professional Psychology (GamaJPP) e-ISSN 2407-7801 is an open-access journal disseminating articles with implications for research and practices professional psychology. GamaJPP welcomes manuscript in the areas of:: Clinical Psychology Education Psychology Developmental Psychology Industrial and Organizational Psychology using empirical, systematic literature review, and experimental research designs that meet the standard publication are accepted in this journal. Submission will need to clearly justify how the manuscript contribute to informing research and practice of Professional Psychology. Abstract

Self-efficacy has an important role in career decision-making. The collected data showed that there were some students (grade 11 and grade 12) had confused to decide their career choice. The data proved that career guidance is necessary for high school students. If students get assistance earlier, students will be more confident to make career decisions in their future. Therefore, the \"PLANS\" training was given to grade 11’s students. The goal was to increased student’s career decision-making self-efficacy. This quasi experiment conducted using the untreated control group design with dependent pretest and post test samples using double pretest. Data were collected using Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scale. The subjects were 34 students of grade 11 who had medium career decision-making selfefficacy (16 students of experiment group and 18 students of control group). The result showed that career decision-making self-efficacy of experiment group is higher than control group after “PLANS” training. The “PLANS” training contribute to 73% of career decision-making self-efficacy improvement.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the extent to which affective commit¬ment could be increased through the storytelling method about organization success stories. Pretest-postest contrl group design was used i this study. Analysis of covariance and mixed analysis of variance were statistical tehniques to analyze data. The subjects were 56 employees with a minimum tenure of three years and were assigned into experimental and control groups. The experimental group was received storytelling about organization success story where as the control group did not receive any treatment. The level of affective commitment was measured by affective commitment scale. The measurement was conducted before and after the storytelling. Results of this research shows that there was a difference on affective commitment scores between experiment and control group as a result of the storytelling (F=12,995; p<.05). However, tenure does not affect the treatment of storytelling method about organization success story in order to increase the employee’s affective commitment (F=14.79; p<.01).

Abstract

This study was aimed to examine the effect of gratitude intervention towards people with physical disabilities well-being. The participants were two groups of people with physical disabilities (8 people for experimental group and 5 people for control group). The design of this study was untreated control group design with dependent pre-test and post-test samples. The similar treatment was also given for control group as a waiting list after intervention for experimental group. Well being was assessed using SPANE, PWS, and PTS. The result showed that there are significant differences in wellbeing score between experimental group and control group which are measured by SPANE U test -2,509, p=0,012. PWS U test -2,874, p=0,04. PTS U test -2,590, p=0,010.

Abstract

Social discrepancy can occurs in some favourite junior high schools. Based on the preliminary study in 2013, it caused the students with low socio-economic status to have a negative view of themselves and the environment, feel depresed, feel unconfident, and inhibit the self optimization. One of the factors that support the self growth and resiliency in adolescent is the self esteem that can be developed by resilience skills development program. This study was aimed to examine the effectiveness of the program in enhancing the self-esteem among adolescent with low socio economic status. It used quasi-experimental design. The subjects were the students of SMPN X and Y in Yogyakarta, that are labelled as favourite junior high schools. The data was analized using Mann-Whitney U Test to test the program effectiveness. The result shows that the program can enhance the self esteem significantly among adolescent with low socio-economic status.

Abstract

Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) is a family therapy that usually use for children with problem behavior. Purpose of BSFT is helping the family to change the maladaptive pattern, such as: lack of communication between parents and children so the behaviors problem can be decreased and dissapear. BSFT is implemented to a family with children that showing symptoms of Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). BSFT was performed in 2 month and able to change maladaptive pattern of communication in the family so the children’s behavior problem decreased. Follow up after 8 month shows that there were less fighting in the family and improvement of communication between parents and their children.
