Abstract

Background: According to a report by the Indonesian Renal Registry (RII) in 2017, the number of patients with chronic kidney disease increased drastically. It shows more patients who may have hemodialysis. Patients with hemodialysis use AVF Access to ease the therapy process. Education based on family support is needed to help patients in self-care, using AVF Access, and improving the quality of patients. Purpose: This research aims to know the impact of education based on family support toward self-care and the life quality of patients with hemodialysis. Methods: The methodology of research used is total sampling. There are 22 samples of patients with hemodialysis with AVF Access that fulfill inclusive criteria (living with family, having components awareness, and doing regular hemodialysis twice a week). The instruments to collect data are questionnaires of self-treatment with ACF Access and KDQL SFTM-36. The data is analyzed with the validating technique of the T Dependent Test with a significance level of 0,05. Result: The result shows that most respondents have good self-treatment for 14 patients (63,6%), proven by p-value = 0,000. The life quality of most respondents is good, proven by p-value = 0,00. Conclusion: In conclusion, there is a significant, substantial, and one-way correlation between education based on family support toward self-care AVF Access and the life quality of patients with hemodialysis. Family is obliged to give more support to patients with hemodialysis to do self-care well so the life quality of patients may improve.

Abstract

Introduction: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract characterized by coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing and a feeling of heaviness in the chest which is generally reversible both with and without treatment. Giving buteyko breathing exercise action is more effective than before being given the action. Objectives: To analyze the application of buteyko breathing exercise to the improvement of respiratory rate (RR) and oxygen saturation (SpO2). Methods: Descriptive analysis in the form of case studies with total sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria of 3 patients under management. The application of buteyko breathing exercise was carried out, observing vital signs before and after buteyko breathing exercise. Results: Nursing problems are ineffective breathing patterns with Respiratory Rate (RR) > 26 x/minute and 2 patients were found to have mild hypoxia with SpO2 <95%. After the application of buteyko breathing exercise, the three patients experienced an improvement in their condition with RR 18-20 x/minute and SpO2 > 98%. The author gives the application of buteyko breathing exercise to asthma patients with an improvement in the condition of RR and SpO2. Supported by Lisavina's research (2019) with the difference between controlling asthma before and after implementing Buteyko breathing. Conclusions: The application of buteyko breathing exercise in assessing improvement in respiratory rate (RR) and oxygen saturation (SpO2) did not have a negative impact on patient conditions, hospital costs, time and effort, or infrastructure.

Abstract

Introduction:  Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a serious problem with a sharp increase in incidence. DM can attack almost all groups of people around the world. The number of DM sufferers continues to increase from year to year because of today's human lifestyle which tends to rarely move and unhealthy eating patterns. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of giving soy milk and red dragon fruit on fasting blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Methods: The type of research used was quasy experiment with pre-test-post-test design with two group comparison treatment. The research subjects were Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus sufferers in the working area of the Guguk Panjang Health Center in Bukittinggi City with a total sample of 54 people, divided into an intervention group of 18 who were given 200 grams of red dragon fruit for 7 days, 18 were given 50 grams of soy milk dissolved in 250 ml of water and 18 people in the control group. Results: The results showed that the P-value <0.05 (P=0.035) and the t-value (2.198) ≥ t-table (2.110), meaning that there is an effect of giving soy milk on blood glucose levels in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus sufferers. There is an effect of giving red dragon fruit on fasting blood sugar levels and blood pressure where the p value was obtained for fasting sugar levels P = 0.018 (p <0.05) and the t count (2.198) was greater than t table (2.11). The results of the ANOVA test showed that the effectiveness of giving red dragon fruit was more effective with an average decrease in blood sugar of 32.56, compared to the effectiveness of giving soy milk with an average decrease in blood sugar of 22.50. Conclusions: In conclusion, red dragon fruit is more effective in lowering blood sugar levels and blood pressure in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with hypertension, because the content of red dragon fruit can repair damaged pancreatic cells.

Abstract

Introduction:  Taking venous blood in neonates is always uncomfortable and painful. Pain in taking venous blood is bad for neonates. Short-term effects that occur include increased pulse, and tissue damage around the venous blood collection area. Long-term impacts can be disrupted psychological aspects and the development of neonatal behavior. Untreated discomfort and pain can lead to complications, including hyperalgesia and changes in the experience of pain. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of giving vanilla extract to the pain level and comfort level of neonates who had venous blood taken. Methods: The type of research is Quasy Experiment with Control Group post test only design. The sampling technique was purposive sampling for 3 months of data collection with a total of 40 respondents. Data analysis using the Independent T Test. Results: The results showed that there was no significant difference in the pain scales of the two groups (p=0.51), but the average pain scale was higher in the control group. There is a significant difference in the results of the front comfort score p value = 0.00. These results are in accordance with previous research that the vanilla concentration of 0.64% and 2% could not significantly reduce pain. It is possible that the results will be different in further studies with a larger number of respondents and different techniques and doses.
