Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out whether there was an effect of using crossword puzzle games through students’ vocabulary mastery and the significant differences before and after using crossword puzzle games through students’ vocabulary mastery. The population of this research was eleventh students of Vocational High School 1 Banyuputih. XI AKL as the experimental class consisted of 25 students. For the sampling technique, the researcher used purposive sampling. In the getting data, it was obtained by using questionnaires filled out by students and used tests that divided into pre-test and post-test. This research method used quantitative research methods and conducted a pre-experimental design as the research design of this study with data testing using SPSS 16. Based on the analysis result of this research showed that the result of the T-test formula to test the hypothesis of this research insignificance 2 degree (α) of 5% is T-test (to) > T-table (table) (18.90 > 1.713). Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted that there is a significant difference between students’ vocabulary mastery before and after using crossword puzzle games.

Abstract

Learning motivation was a studied manner from student and the first actor to certainly study result. Talking pen was learning for students to motivate them in sharing an opinion. The population of this research was all students of MTs. Nurul Jadid Mlandingan Situbondo, consisting of 58 students and the sample was using random sampling method by 10 students of VII- B and 15 students of VII-A. The instrument data collection used observation, interview, and test, the researcher analyzed normality test and homogeneity by (SPSS). From the test on mean VII A=0,76,00 more than 0,5. So in the research was normal, H1 was accepted and from VII B= 0,82,6 more than 0,5. So the research was normal, so H1 was accepted. For the homogeneity test where the test of pre-test was homogeneity, the significant was0,892. It means that the significance was more than 0,05, which H1 was accepted. Based on the test of post-test, the homogeneity significance was 0,136. It means that the significance was more than 0,05, so H1 was accepted. Based on the result of the t-test, the pre-test and post-test are significant. t-test must be under 0,05 and in the table are 0,000, So the effectiveness and H1 were accepted.

Abstract

Writing skill in English is a productive skill that involves several components such as topic, ideas, main ideas, supporting ideas, sentence structure, grammar, diction, and writing technique. University students must be able to compose well-structured and elaborated academic writing. They are urged to create credible writings in the academic field and one of the strategies that can be used is the PLEASE strategy. PLEASE strategy is a writing strategy that has six steps namely: Pick, List, Evaluate, Activate, Supply, End. Therefore, this research aims to find the effect of the PLEASE strategy to improve English writing skills of the university of students in semester 4 at the English Department, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities University of Ibrahimy Situbondo. The findings of this research were drawn by using Z-test. It shows that the PLEASE strategy can significantly improve students’ writing skills. PLEASE strategy can help students to think systematically and critically using all those 6 steps.

Abstract

Semantic Mapping is a simple strategy used by students by clustering words starting with determining the main idea according to the theme they will tell and supported by words related to the main idea. this study aims to (1) The influence of semantic mapping strategy on students' ability to write recount text (2) to test the effectiveness of the semantic mapping strategy of students' ability to write recount text. The method used in this research is a Quasi-Experimental method with a Non-equivalent design. Data obtained through tests and documentation. The sample of this research was 15 students of Elementary. based on the results of the pre-test and post-test, students' ability in writing recount texts increased by 38, which is the difference between the control class' post-test average score of 48 and the experimental class's post-test average score of 86. Furthermore, based on the statistical calculation of 0.05, the value of Sig. < 0.05 (0.045 < 0.05), means that the use of the Semantic Mapping strategy is effective in improving the ability to write recount text.

Abstract

One of the important materials in reading skills is narrative text. The narrative text is taught since the 8th grade of Junior High School and is a mandatory material until it is included in the National Examination (UN) grid, college entrance exams, and TOEFL. The narrative text is a type of English text that aims to tell a story that has a series of connected chronological events. It is the main part of English text taught in Junior High School. Unfortunately, researchers still found many students who did not master narrative texts, especially in grade 8 of SMP Ibrahimy 1 Sukorejo. The picture and picture model is one of the learning models that can improve students' writing skills in narrative texts. The Picture and Picture model has the same principle and way of working as the method of learning to compose pictures. Students are equally asked to arrange pictures that have been prepared sequentially and systematically. Systematic and sequential according to the reasoning and logical strength of students. This research used the classroom action research method and was conducted in 2 cycles through four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques used were observation, questionnaires, and tests. The finding of this research showed that picture and picture models could improve students’ writing skills in writing narrative text.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the results of the teaching process in the classroom with the approach and design of learning happiness atmosphere in classroom which aims to increase mastery of a foreign language (English). This study used a qualitative descriptive method with data collection stages such as data collection steps including setting research boundaries, collecting information through observation, structured (or semi-structured) interviews, documents, visual materials, documenting the results of information in the field . The object of this research ware semester I students who toke speaking I courses at University of Ibrahimy. The stages and teaching in this class were used multiple methods in the stimulus so that students feel happy and happy in class. The research was used student-focused learning approach (student center). The learning model applied were CTL, Communicative approach, feedback review, discussion and natural learning. In the process of learning foreign language mastery in class, students were allowed used bilingual when having difficulty in vocabulary, students were allowed to directly ask their friends when they have difficulties and other friends were advised to provide feedback on their friends' questions, The final results obtained from the learning process with the application of the happiness atmosphere in the classroom turned out to be very positive results and the students were happy, accustomed to the teaching process and continued to apply learning theory to achieve appropriate success.

Abstract

Dropping words is a game that is used to make it easier for someone to learn vocabulary, this game is also used by all levels and ages because this game of dropping words is quite easy to play. The discussion of this research focuses on how much the increase in female students understanding by using dropping words education games in learning English vocabulary and to determine the effectiveness of dropping word education games on female students’ mastery of English vocabulary at SMP Ibrahimy 2 Sukorejo. This research is a quantitative research using a quasi-experimental method. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling. The number of samples used as many as 25 respondents. The data in this study used a pre-test and post-test as well as a questionnaire which was analyzed using SPSS version 19. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that first, the level of understanding of female students in the use of dropping word education games in learning English vocabulary can be seen from the final score (post-test) for the experimental group of 80.50 while the post-test of the control group is 67.17. Has a difference in the value of 13.33. Second, there is effectiveness in teaching vocabulary using dropping word education games to female students. This can be seen from the value of the t-test Pair 1 and Pair 2 obtained the value of Sig. of 0.000 < 0.05.

Abstract

This study determines the effect of using online media on student outcomes. This research was conducted at the state Khamas Vocational High School 2020-2021. The research method used was a survey and pre-experiment design with one group pre-test post-test. A number of sample 19 students, were divided into two groups. The instrument used questionnaire and score of pre-test post-test in experimental design. Data analysis techniques using analysis of t-test, and R-square tests. From a value of t-test, it was a significant influence between online method on student learning outcomes obtained at-count value of 9,481 > 1,793 There is an influence of online learning media (X) on learning outcomes (Y), And continued for the know-how of value significant online learning method on student learning outcomes can see from the coefficient of determination test (R2) which means that there is an effect of using online learning media (X) on student learning outcomes of 83,2% while 16,2% of student learning outcomes are influenced by other variables not examined.

Abstract

This research was classroom action research (CAR) which focuses on the implementation of audio-visual media in the classroom. The method in this study was qualitative descriptive that used by the Kemmis and Mc Taggart method which involves four components, such as: (1) Planning (2) Action (3) Observation and (4) Reflection. The object of this research were students collage at the second semester. Total participants in this study were 11 students. The researcher was a subject (researcher and actor in the study). The implementation of Audio-visual media were carrying out for 3 cycles. The result of this application were increasing English language skill with the right language rule. By using Audio Visual, the students directly imitated the speaker's language style, such as; conversation, pronunciation, accent, mimicking, gestures, intonation, the use of words and sentences that used on communication. This result support with previous research that reading, listening, seeing and practicing will be easier to remember and learn. By using audio-visual media, it can mediate learning to master the four components in scientific understanding in learning English language.

Abstract

At the university Ibrahimy Sukorejo, the researcher found that many students still get difficulty learning speaking skills in class, especially in the first semester. The lecturer had already done so much direct research but still didn’t find a perfect way in solving the problem for the student. This research was taken at Ibrahimy University Sukorejo and used the Class action research (CAR) Method. To collect the data, the researcher used the value of the test. the researcher directly got in touch with students. The researcher gave the pre-test and post-test to know the student’s speaking ability. The test is taken from an oral test because it measures speaking ability. As shown in the research of the fourth meeting the student’s assessments showed that the student’s speaking proficiency progressed. Many students, who were at level 2 in the previous meeting, could reach level 3 in the last cycle. The amounts were 21 students. The rest were 9 students at level 3+.
