Focus and Scope FOCUS Jurnal Pendidikan Islam Indonesia (JPII) is a peer-reviewed journal providing a forum for educators, education leaders, scholars, students, and policymakers to address the current topics in education and Indonesian Islamic education from a global perspective; especially about pesantren. The journal focuses on the issues of Islamic Education in Southeast Asia. JPII publishes original academic articles dealing with relevance in educational theory, methodology, and practice. Papers should focus on studies and systematic analysis that employ qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, research and development (RnD), and theoretical methodologies from an international scope. Both pedagogical and andragogical perspectives in teaching and learning are welcome. Abstract

It is a fact that, teachers have been accustomed to take materials as teaching materials from textbooks or textbooks provided the school and though the textbook still has many weaknesses. Among them are: (1) No Standard Competency, Basic Competency, and Indicator, (2) there are no instructional guidelines, (3) no multiple choice assessment, (4) lack of learning material on reference of reading material and (5) unsuitable laying of the Qur'an and hadith. From some of the above problems, the researcher is interested to write a scientific paper entitled Development of Textbook Using 4 D Model (Define, Design, Develop, And Disseminate) in improving success of learning in islamic studies lesson class x even semester in SMA Ibrahimy Sukorejo Situbondo on 2016/2017 year. The research method used is R & D Using Model 4 D (Define, Design, Develop, And Disseminate). Technique of data collection using test method, questionnaire, observation, interview, and documentation. while the data analysis using the test device analysis and effectiveness test. The development has resulted in one textbook product, entitled "Textbook of Islamic Education And Nature Character Class X in second Semester.”

Abstract

Calendar is one of the human's masterpiece in studying the regularity of the movement of celestial bodies such as the Sun, Earth and Moon. In Indonesia, generally found the Gregorian calendar that based on the movement of the sun and the Islamic calendar / Hijra with the motion of the Moon. Therefore, in an effort to introduce Islamic calendar to the society, researchers held a thematic learning about the Islamic calendar to children, in the activities of Ramadan Stars Camp (RSC) Imah Noong. The aim is to provide an introduction and understanding to the children about the Islamic calendar in the concept called “eduwisata”. This is done by the researchers so that children do not feel bored when presented materials related to the Islamic calendar. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis which researchers take the data in the form of a questionnaire to participants, then processed, classified, and conclusions. The results of this study are mostly children who participated in the RSC can find out about the history of Islamic calendar, the legal basis, the calculation system, and the names of the months in Islamic calendar system.

Abstract

Pesantren is as educational institution has Tafaqquh fi Al-din- oriented has been long known as an educational Institution whose main purpose form of moral. In the process of transmission can’t be denied the role of ustadz in learning process, both in side and outside classroom. The process of transformation and modernization are all lines require the figure of ustadz in Pesantren to make accommodation, concessions for the transformation of education and learning system in pesantren. Pesantren is as part of the nation's community and also inseparable from the influences of ongoing National dynamics today. It is caught in a wave of globalization with all its positive and negative values. Similarly, ustadz of pesantren which also certainly, cannot be separated from the transformation so that there is a shift in identity representation in the form of mental or language representation. Based on the results of the research was found the figure of ustadz in the framework of accommodation and concessions transformed the representation of identity both as the teacher represented in school such as personality competence competition, social, professional competence, organizational culture skills, both in oral, written form, and personal branding abilities.

Abstract

Quality of education is the purpose of every educational institution, including Ma'had 'Aly educational institution in Situbondo. Focus of this research are: 1) Recruitment of new students at Ma'had 'Aly Situbondo, 2) Learning management at Ma'had' Aly Situbondo, 3) Evaluation, increase and graduation conducted at Ma'had 'Aly Situbondo. Research Method: The research approach in this research is qualitative descriptive. Sampling techniques are snowball sampling and purpusive sampling. Data collected by interview, observation and documentation. Technical analysis of field data: Data reduction, data presentation and data verification (Milles and Huberman). Result of research: 1) Entrance selection is done very strictly with written test and oral test, 2) management of curricular and extracurricular students, through lectures and outside activities, 3) Assessment are done during learning activity, after learning activity, middle test and final test every semesters with written and oral tests.

Abstract

Global competition is very tight and makes issues about quality has become a serious studies and discussions among thinkers, practitioners, corporate managers, and education managers. Similarly, what happens in the middle of education in the Islamic boarding school environment. This study focused on the study, How Leadership Principals in the process of the implementation of TQM and how the stages of the learning process undertaken in improving the professionalism of teachers in SMA Ibrahimy Sukorejo Situbondo. This research uses descriptive qualitative research approach because this research is produce the theory in the field and direct researchers come to see the condition of learning. The results of this study describe improvements made by the principal starting from self, building relationships and networking, building the same comitem in the organization, creating a joint control and evaluation system, promoting mutual interest and developing gradual and sustainable quality. As for the improvement of professional teachers starting recruitment, personality development and evaluate the process of teaching and learning activities (KBM).

Abstract

This paper is motivated by the diversity of problems that arise around us. However, sometimes the problem is not solved with a holistic approach, so that sometimes raises new problems. This study aimed to describe the concept of transdisiplinari developed curriculum in the schools of the future. Transdiciplinary curriculum is an approach that seeks to solve complex problems by transforming and integrating a wide range of relevant scientific viewpoints. The learning process in a transdisciplinary curriculum combines the cognitive abilities from low to high level in a manner that fosters awareness of learners against humans and humanity. The learning process developed involves aktiivitas learners to what happens in everyday life. Activities learners schools from alienated from the reality of everyday life of the community, nation and mankind.

Abstract

Media literacy are the ability to know, analyze and deconstruct media image. The ability to make audience as mass media consumer like many people could know how to use mass media and social media. How mass media do contructing every information or media content to influence audience. Media literacy teach public to choose media content which is true or untrue (hoax). The knowledge of media literacy in the education world are important. Social media situation now are unclear. Netizen as social media user is always write and spread hated speech, issues and hoax to reach popularity. Negative behavior of netizens in the social media era, such as spread of untrue news (hoax), blasphemy and slander, black campaign, and various other negative behavior that every day can be found on smartphone which is a reflection of the bad behavior. This condition is sometimes exacerbated by the role of media contaminated with political interests and double standards so that only the party supporters news who get the most benefit in their message. So the knowledge of media literacy should transmit for public in the educational world.

Abstract

In the history of Indonesian, education policy has always been dynamic. Before independence until the reform era of education policy can not be separated from the political system. We know that education policy as part of education policy is a political product. Political configuration in every era of state political leadership has always changed according to the political wind and the configuration of political rulers. However, forces outside the governance system, such as educational community groups, will give color to the education system. When the political system demands the centralization of power, the education system will also concentrate on a centralized government. With the flow of reforms, it has spawned many changes in the education system. Several articles, even the law which, according to the public, lack attention to the aspect of education itself, are sued to the Constitutional Court. Along with the policy of regional autonomy, education policy must be able to adjust to the development of society in autonomous regions. This necessarily requires the creativity of leaders in the region in terms of promoting education in the region in accordance with the aspirations of the community.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out empirical evidence of the relationship between skills for success and academic achievement of Islamic Senior High School students in Situbondo regency. Data were collected with self-discipline scale, self-efficacy scale, need for achievement scale, self-control ability scale, time management skill scale, problem solving skill scale and scores of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology which analyzed by Spearman correlation. The sample was obtained by using multistage random sampling technique. The results of studies from various literatures conclude that self-discipline, self efficacy, need for achievement, self-control ability, time management skills, and problem solving skills have a significant positive relationship with students’ achievement. And from the findings that will be obtained, there is one factor from the six factors that contribute greatly to the students’ academic achievement, so that factor will need to get attention especially from the teachers.

Abstract

The learning process is considered successful when the ability to absorb the teaching material has reached high achievement, both individual and group and the behavior in the specific instructional objectives has been achieved by students. Teachers as learning designers have a role in designing learning to produce optimally students achievement. The headmaster as a leader has a role to create a conducive and controlled school so that produces the best graduates. This research tries to analyze about professionalism of headmaster and teacher in improving student achievement. In this study found the conclusion that the success of students can be achieved due to students’ internal factors and external factors such as environment, school leadership, teacher methods in teaching and learning climate.
