Abstract

YouTube as has become undeniable learning sources for students and teachers. It provides them with abundant videos that can support online and offline learning process. Besides exposing to audio visual media, YouTube enable students to display their speaking videos and get respond from teachers and friends. The respond can be in the form of giving a thumb or positive comment to their speaking performance. This can boost students motivation and confident in creating videos and encourage them to practice speaking. Therefore, this study proposes the idea of utilizing Classroom YouTube channel to encourage students’ speaking practice by allowing them to upload their videos, watching their friends’ speaking performance, collaborate, and learn to have online interaction and appreciation to their friends’ speaking performance. Further, it shows the steps of activating classroom YouTube channel to be an interactive learning platform and the procedures in an online classroom based on its theoretical perspectives

Abstract

Listening and speaking are fundamental communication skills. Language learners who study a foreign language need to learn these skills seriously to communicate well. Unfortunately, learning those skills is difficult for them. As podcasts have many benefits for the students, those resources help students to learn the language. The paper discussed how podcasts are helpful for foreign language learners to improve their listening and speaking skills. This literature review indicated several previous studies recommending using podcasts as learning support in improving listening and speaking skills. Abstract

This article focuses on the use of short stories in the process of learning English for grade 6 students at Al Fath School Indonesia, especially in imrpoving reading and writing skill. Every year, Al Fath students take special training in writing short stories. They study plot structure diagrams and compare them with the short stories they read, then they write their own short stories. The results of the short stories that the children wrote were then analyzed and collected into an anthology book with ISBN. This article is expected to provide an overview and example for schools to encourage students' creativity in reading and writing activities

Abstract

This paper aims to find out the whether introvert students and extrovert students had significant different result in speaking skill, to find out whether the use of memory strategies and social strategies gave significant different result in speaking skill, to investigate whether there was a significant interaction between learning style differences and the use of learning strategies in speaking skill at second semester of computerized program of LP3I Polytechnic Bekasi.. Forty-four students (40) were randomly chosen to get the data of whose styles were extreme introvert and extreme extrovert. Inferential analysis was done by using a two-way ANOVA for hypotheses testing. The research findings showed that there was significant different effect of speaking test between extroverts and introvert. Extroverts performed better in speaking skill. The other finding was that there was not a significant different between using social strategies and memory strategies. As a result of insignificant of using learning strategies in improving speaking skill, it was also found that there was not a significant interaction between language learning style and language learning strategies toward students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

The method of the research that is used by the writer is a qualitative approach in classroom action research method by researcher participant. The classroom action research is a method of finding out what works best in your own classroom so that you can improve students’ learning. The subject of the research is all of the students at SMK XYZ. This research uses one class. The researcher chooses the first class and concept of 20 students. The researcher teached English by Self-talk strategy to improve their speaking skill and the online learning research. In every cycle the researcher made lesson plans, actions, observations and reflecting to know how far the learning process can improve students’ speaking skill. From the researcher's result. The learning target of students in cycle one is 51%, then in cycle two the learning target increased to 69%. In the last cycle the learning target increased again, becoming 76%. Based on the result above, that self-talk strategy can improve the students’ speaking skill. It’s known from the learning target in each cycle that continuously increases. So, the researcher concludes that self-talk strategy can improve the students’ speaking in the teaching learning process.
