Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe how to integrate local potential in the Curriculum Study Course to improve students' critical thinking skills. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using research samples from students of the Department of Biology Education, Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, Mandalika University of Education. The instrument used is a critical thinking ability test sheet in the form of 5 essay questions. The results of the analysis show that the critical thinking skills of stage I students reached 47.5% (critical enough), increased in stage II to 75% (critical), meaning that most of the students were critical in identifying various problems related to the curriculum and local learning resources, analyzing and reviewing the applicable curriculum, and selecting solutions and making decisions which are then used in learning in schools.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the influence of emotional intelligence on students' cognitive mathematics learning outcomes on angles and lines in class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Narmada. This type of research is ex post facto, and the sampling technique used is proportional random sampling technique with a sample of 132 students. Data collection was carried out using an emotional intelligence questionnaire and cognitive mathematics learning outcomes tests. The data analysis technique uses descriptive statistics and simple linear regression with a significance level of 5%. Based on descriptive analysis calculations, the average value of students' emotional intelligence data was 178.41. This shows that the emotional intelligence of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Narmada is in the high category. The average score for students' cognitive mathematics learning outcomes is 65.33. This shows that the cognitive mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Narmada are in the medium category. From the results of inferential analysis using simple linear regression, the estimating equation Y = 32.736 + 0.550X is obtained. Based on the results of the analysis, tcount = 19.631; ttable = 1.645 and p = 0.000, the tcount value obtained is more than ttable, namely 19.631 > 1.645 and the statistical significance level is less than the examiner's significance level a = 0.05, then the estimator regression equation obtained is meaningful at the 5% significance level, so there is an influence emotional intelligence on cognitive mathematics learning outcomes. R2 = 0.748 indicates that 74.8% of students' cognitive mathematics learning outcomes can be explained by the emotional intelligence variable. Thus, there is a significant influence between emotional intelligence on the cognitive mathematics learning outcomes of students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Narmada.
