Abstract

Autism or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by deficit in social communication and interaction with restricted and repetitive behavior, interest, or activities. The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) method is a behavioral approach that has the possibility of improving clinical manifestations in the aspects of social communication and interaction with the behavior of children with autism. This study aims to determine the effect of applying the ABA method in children with autism. This study used a literature review from 20 national journals indexed by SINTA or Garuda and international journals indexed by Scopus or Scimago in the last 5 years, from 2017 to 2022. The results of the journal review conducted found that the application of the ABA method has significant effectiveness in improving various kinds of clinical manifestations in aspects of impaired social communication and interaction with restricted and repetitive behavior in children with autism. This study concludes that the application of the ABA method affects social communication and interaction with the behavior of children with autism.

Abstract

Leprosy is a chronic granulomatous disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae, which can cause significant disability in patients. Risk factors for leprosy include genetic susceptibility, environmental exposure, and social and economic factors. Diagnosis and classification of leprosy is based on clinical signs, skin examination, and histopathology. Defects arising in leprosy can result from bacilli infiltration of the skin and nerves, as well as from leprosy reactions in the form of acute neuritis. Prevention and treatment of hand and foot defects need to be done early and involve self-care by the patient. A case of MH type BT in a 29-year-old male with grade 2 leprosy was reported based on anamnesis, physical examination and supporting examination. The management given from the skin and genital department was MDT MB package I and vitamins B1 B6 B12 and the medical rehabilitation department consul was given intrinsic muscle stimulation of the hand, range of movement (ROM) exercises, movement, and functional hand. Leprosy treatment aims to break the chain of transmission, cure patients, and prevent disability. The leprosy eradication program involves treatment with a multi-drug treatment (MDT) regimen tailored to the type of disease. Prevention and treatment of disability in leprosy involves physical exercise, protection of hands and feet, and wound and skin care. People with leprosy also need to understand the importance of self-care and avoiding risk factors that can worsen the condition. Leprosy is a disease that can cause significant disability and impairment. Prevention and treatment of disability in leprosy plays an important role in improving the quality of life of patients. Leprosy eradication programs involving MDT treatment have been shown to be effective in reducing disease incidence. Self-care by sufferers through physical exercise, hand and foot protection, and wound and skin care can help prevent more severe disability. A holistic and comprehensive approach is expected to reduce the negative impact of leprosy on sufferers and society.

Abstract

Glaucoma ranks as the second-leading contributor to visual impairment, affecting a population of more than 76 million people worldwide. Glaucoma drugs currently work to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) by reducing the production of aqueous humor (AH) in the ciliary corpus or increasing the drainage of AH through conventional or uveoscleral-uveovortex pathways. The newest hypotensive eye medicine, the Rho Kinase Inhibitor (ROCK), works to reduce TIO with the ROCK inhibitor. In addition, the use of ROCK inhibitors has been shown to be beneficial in the treatment of glaucoma, corneal endothelial healing, and progressive diabetic retinopathy. Although there is evidence that the use of Rho kinase-related inhibitors can cause conjunctive hyperemia, before the discovery of the ROCK inhibitor, there was no anti-glaucoma drug that could work with the trabecular meshwork targets, so ROCK is a very promising therapy for glaucoma patients as TM is responsible for 75% of the AH flow.

Abstract

One of the factors contributing to patient morbidity and death is variable variability in treatment response. Adverse drug responses (ADRs) or subtherapeutic effects are possible in certain patients during medication administration. The genetic variation is one of the many variables that contribute to this condition. Pharmacogenomics is the study of how genes influence an individual's response to drugs. The goal of pharmacogenomics is to optimise treatment for the patient. It has been established that a number of genes are associated with drug response, which affects both the direct effects of drugs (pharmacodynamics) and their blood levels (pharmacokinetics). Modifications to a medication's pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics may result in toxicity or lessen its efficacy. In order to increase the precision of pharmacotherapy techniques, this study aims to elucidate the availability of data on genetic variants that are known to affect medication response.

Abstract

Lupus nephritis (LN) continues to be a leading cause of high morbidity and mortality rates in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients. Kidney biopsy remains the gold standard for diagnosing LN. Several biomarkers have been identified and evaluated, contributing to improvements in the management of LN patients. This literature review summarizes recent relevant literature on biomarkers for the diagnosis, monitoring, and prognosis of LN. These biomarkers are categorized based on their sample sources, namely serum and urine. Both sample sources show significant variations in biomarker data associated with disease activity and histological parameters of LN. Potential biomarker molecules include antibodies, cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules. This literature review provides a general overview and serves as a reference for further research, particularly in advancing the understanding of LN biomarkers in Indonesia. Keywords: systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), lupus nephritis (LN), biomarkers, serum, urin
