Abstract

Exclamation mark or kantanfu in Japanese, is one of written language elements used to convey expressions. Based on exclamation mark usage, the meaning and nuance of a sentence could differ. Amidst the COVID19 pandemic that limits one’s interaction to another, the frequency of digital communication has significantly increased. Digital communication through chats has become an activity that cannot be separated from everyday life. Therefore, it is important to understand exclamation marks correctly. The aim of this study is to avoid misunderstandings that could happen through chats in Japanese.  This study will compare the use and interpretation of exclamation marks in Japanese chat between Indonesians and Japanese. Japanese chat messages containing exclamation marks were analyzed using Hymes’ SPEAKING theory. This study uses Creswell's convergent mixed methods, with quantitative data of Indonesians’ questionnaire survey results, and qualitative data of interviews with Japanese people. Study results show that there are differences in the use and function of exclamation marks between Indonesians and Japanese.

Abstract

This study has the objectives of (1) solving the average difference in students' problem-solving abilities, (2) testing the increase in students' problem-solving abilities. This research is included in the pre-experimental quantitative research with the one group pretest posttest design. The data in this study were analyzed using the paired sample t test which aims to test the average difference, and the n-gain score test to test the increase. The research was conducted in class V SD 5 Bae. From this study, the results obtained were (1) there were differences in students' problem-solving skills before and after the NHT model was applied with edutainment responsibility learning application media, (2) there was an increase in students' problem-solving abilities with a percentage of 52.66%.

Abstract

This study determined the enhancement of students' conceptual understanding in science through subject-based learning in ethno-edutainment and to identify aspects of ethno-edutainment that improve students' conceptual understanding of subject-based learning. It employed a mixed method with a sequential explanatory design variant that combines quantitative and qualitative data. Data gathering techniques in this study consisted of a quantitative data testing technique with analysis using normality gains tests and interviews and a qualitative data observation technique with qualitative descriptive analysis. The analysis of four primary schools in Kudus province showed that students' average conceptual comprehension ability rose from the starting value of 63.4 to 86.7, so the interpretation of learning improvement was moderate. The study concluded that there was moderate improvement among the four primary schools in Kudus Province and that students had average conceptual comprehension. Furthermore, respondents showed appreciation for gamification elements and already had knowledge of the local culture.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes by using the cooperative learning model of The Power of Two type. Based on these objectives, this research uses Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted at SMPN 31 Medan which is located at Jl. Jamin Ginting Km.13, Lau Cih, Kec.Medan Tuntungan, Medan City, North Sumatra 20137. The cycle in this study consisted of four steps, namely planning (plan), action (action), observation (observation), and reflection (reflection). . The steps in the next cycle are planning that has been revised, action, observation, and reflection. Before entering the cycle, I take preliminary action in the form of problem assistance. Student learning outcomes have increased through the application of the Cooperative learning model type power of two, this is obtained based on student learning outcomes tests that have been carried out in the initial test, cycle I to cycle II. In the first learning outcomes test in cycle I with an average student learning completeness increased to 76.1 (enough category). Up to the second cycle II learning outcomes test with an average student learning completeness of 87.7 (high category).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve student learning outcomes through the Problem Based Learning model for fourth grade students at SDN 1 Sungai Danau. This Classroom Action Research was carried out in two cycles using the Kemmis and Mc models. Taggart which consists of the stages of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data was collected through observation and tests. Data analysis uses qualitative and quantitative data. The results showed that the teacher's activity in learning activities was in the first cycle of meeting 1, namely 38, the second meeting, namely 41 and in Cycle II, meeting 1, namely 44, the second meeting, namely 53. The percentage of students' classical activity in Cycle I, meeting 1 reached 72%, meeting 2 reached 75% and in cycle II meeting 1 reached 78%, meeting 2 reached 91%. Completeness of student learning outcomes cycle I reached 75% and increased in cycle II reached 94%. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Problem Based Learning model to mathematics content can improve student learning outcomes in terms of the learning outcomes of fourth grade students at SDN 1 Sungai Danau.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyse the English reading materials currently used by non-English major students and evaluate the extent to which they incorporate microlearning and problem-solving skills. The study was conducted at a public university in Bogor, Indonesia. The research utilized qualitative content analysis to examine a set of existing learning materials, consisting of a coursebook, PowerPoint slides, explainer videos, and infographics. Interviews with five English instructors were also conducted to explore the needs of learning materials further. The findings reveal a gap between the current materials and the descriptors of microlearning and problem-solving. Therefore, it indicates an urgency of developing new English reading materials that promote problem-solving and incorporate microlearning to facilitate the needs of non-English major students better.
