Abstract

Stunting is a form of stunted growth process and is a nutritional problem that needs attention and is one of the main public health problems in Indonesia. Parenting is one of the factors that can cause nutritional problems such as stunting because toddlers still depend on the parenting applied by the family in fulfilling their food and health care. This study aims to determine public perceptions of stunting in three villages in the Pamboang Health Center working area consisting of North Bonde Village, Banua Adolang Village and Betteng Village which are included in the village with the highest number of stunting rates in Majene Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach which was carried out from December 2020 to January 2021 by conducting in-depth interviews, observations with a total of 6 mothers who have stunting status of toddlers. The results of this study indicate that stunting is not only a measure of short height, but rather on the concept that the process coincides with the process of growth and development inhibition by linking the developmental parameters of toddlers through DDST and KBK. The results of interviews in the field are relevant to the theory so that the results of public perception assume that stunting is a fact that exists in the community so that it can have an impact on optimal community involvement in an effort to encourage the government to reduce stunting.

Abstract

According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2019 there were 463 million people suffering from diabetes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of nutrition education on the level of knowledge and self management in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Somba Opu Health Center in 2020. The type of research used is quantitative with pre post one group design research, and a quasy experiment approach. Accidental sampling technique with a total sample of 45 people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Data collection used questionnaires, video media and leaflets. Data analysis used consists of 2 stages, namely univariate and bivariate (Anova test and Friedman test). The results of this study indicate that there is no effect of nutrition education on the level of pre-test knowledge in each intervention group, namely the p value ꞊ 0.155 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. There is an effect of nutrition education on the level of knowledge post test p value = 0.001, the level of self management pre test p value = 0.001 and the level of self management post test p value = 0.000 in each intervention group in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. With the incidence of diabetes mellitus, it is hoped that health workers will further improve the program in the field of counseling and provide education related to dietary therapy for food selection

The sample in the study was 99 respondents obtained by using the slovin formula with the Proportional Random Sampling technique based on the residence in the respondent's hamlet area. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. To determine the risk (Odds ratio) of exposure to cases, a confidence interval (CI) value of 95% (α 0.05) was used. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between nutritional status (p=0.000, OR=0.659), physical activity (p=0.000, OR=3.430) and fluid intake (p=0.003, OR=0.225) with dehydration status in farmers in Jeneponto District. Nutritional status, physical activity and fluid intake are risk factors associated with dehydration in corn farmers in Jeneponto Regency.
