Abstract

This paper attempted to discover the authenticity of interpretation work ordinated to Abdul Qodir Jailani. This interpretation Sufism was published by two different publishers from two separate countries; Dar alKutub al-Ilmiyah located in Beirut, Lebanon and Markaz al-Jailani li al-Buhus al-Ilmiyah in Istanbul, Turkey. This research is conducted from incredulity of ordination validity towards that interpretation work (Tafsir). By reason that the script was similar to another spread-script whose title is Fawatih al-Ilahiyah authored by Baba Ni’matullah Najwani. By comparison to two versions of Tafsir al-Jailani and one version of al-Fawatih al-Ilahiyah, this research comes to conclusion that this Tafsir (Tafsir al-Jailani) is inscription of Baba Ni’matullah Najwani, not Abdul Qodir al-Jailani. This conclusion goes against to three points; first, the name in book cover is not compatible with the name in introduction as the author had conveyed it in this Tafsir’s introduction; Second, the Author discussed many topics about Wahdat alWujud, a Sufism terminology acknowledged by Ibn Arabi who lived after Abdul Kodir al-Jailani. Third; many terms engaged in this Tafsir have not turned out into Tasawwuf Scholars discourse in Abdul Qodir Jailani’s period.

Abstract

This article aims at examining forms and characteristics of Turkish nationalism under Erdoganism, a relatively new term which has been devoted to leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The notion of nationalism has not been the main focus on the full range of the political rhetoric and the social interactions demonstrated by Erdogan. However, generally considered as a fundamental element in Turkey's social and political development, nationalism always remains a hot topic which cannot be separated from social dynamics and society itself. For this reason, nationalism will endlessly continue to look for a dynamic form and, at the same time, becomes an instrument of the ruling to control the distribution of power. Erdoganism itself has various distinct approaches towards the narrative and development of Turkish nationalism. This research used a qualitative approach with discourse analysis method by elaborating symbols, languages, writings, and speeches demonstrated by Erdogan in the political activities. The findings of this research are expected to be able to comprehend nationalism of Erdoganism.

Abstract

Religious teachings are considered to have long oppressed women. Teachings having been dominated by men have been used as justifications for the perception of society that is very detrimental to women. This article discusses the gap of understanding on women's rights to reconcile with their husband who have divorced them, viewed from the perspective of Islamic scholars and Islamic law. In this case, the Qur'an has the principle that the positions of men and women are equal as a servant, because men and women are created from the same substance (min nafsin waahidah), the same task (khalifatullah filardh), and have same obligations (liya'budun). However, Muslim scholars agree that the reconciliation is absolutely the husband’s right. In gender perspective, women can apply for reconciliation (Rujuk) as their rights to their husbands. This study conducts analysis using a content analysis approach related to the issue of reconciliation rights dominated by men (husbands) by means of redeeming the husband's rights that have been given to them. And in the presence of khulu, the wife also has the right of reconciliation (Rujuk) to the husband who has divorced her

Abstract

Despite studies in the realm of Islamic education teaching has been extensively conducted, the application of Islamic education curriculum in Indonesian secondary schools receives scant academic attention from the previous researchers. To fill this void, the present exploratory case study aims to explain practices of Islamic education enacted as a nationally-mandated school subject in secondary schools and to explore to what extent the Indonesian government supports Islamic education teachers to handle this compulsory school subject. Four Islamic education teachers of junior secondary schools volunteered to participate in this research. Data were garnered through classroom observation and in-depth interviews. Framed in thematic analysis, this study reports that the syllabus, lesson plan, learning resources, classroom-based practices, and authentic assessment required thorough concern. In response to this, the government support was needed to promote the best practices, i.e. teacher professional development and provision of sufficient school facilities. To policy authorities in Indonesia, the study recommends facilitating Islamic education teachers with sustainable professional development and redesigning the government-prescribed textbooks to foster teacher creativity in their teaching and learning processes.
