Abstract

Diversity does not always get a positive response from the community because diversity often conflicts with developing cultures. This article aims to discover the sociological approach in Islamic studies. The library research method is used with a variety of relevant sources. The study results indicate that the sociological characteristics of Islamic studies emphasize muamalah worship rather than ubudiyah. Theories in the sociological approach include functional theory, interactional theory, and conflict theory. Sociological methods in Islamic studies include descriptive, comparative, and experimental methods. Islamic sociology pays attention to problems developed in society, such as the prohibition of usury, reducing the divorce rate, and socio-political comparability. This article also contains a case analysis of society's sociological approach. Keywords: Sociological Approach; Sociology; Islamic Studies

Abstract

Most pesantren, especially in Java, are established on the initiative of Kyai. Kyai’s leadership style is more likely to be authoritarian/paternalistic. This paper research uses a descriptive approach qualitative type of Literature Review Study method to identify, evacuate and synthesize previous studies. The data obtained are parsed regularly in a descriptive analysis for its study nature. A normative sociological approach is also used to enrich the perspective. At the end of this article, a strong relationship between progress in pesantren and leaders who adopt transformative leadership styles is concluded. The transformative leadership styles need to be adopted by pesantren leaders in Indonesia, complemented by recommendations for kyais who intend to shift into transformative ones. Keywords: Islamic Boarding School; Transformational Leadership; Kyai

Abstract

The bombing of the Makassar Cathedral Church and the shooting at the National Police Headquarters reflects radicalism among the youth. The two perpetrators before carrying out their actions both wrote messages to their families that they were ready to be martyred to carry out jihad as the highest practice in Islam. The internalization of radicalism among millennials through religious propaganda on social media shows the importance of platforms to counter these issues. Therefore, the author makes phenomenological research using the concept of internalization as the formal and material object in form of videos on the "pause writing" channel. In this case, the author uses the descriptive-analytic-critical method through his youtube content about religious moderation. The results show that Habib Hussein Ja'far Al-Hadar has carried out three stages of value internalization consisting of value transformation, value transactions, and trans-internalization. It demonstrates that the YouTube channel's programming is beneficial in combating extremism and educating millennials about religious tolerance. Keywords: moderation; social media; millennials.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the implementation of management standard policies in quality assurance for Madrasah in Cianjur Regency.  The approach used is descriptive qualitative with research techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Data collection was carried out through orientation, exploration, and member checks. The results showed that the implementation of madrasah management and quality assurance standards were quite optimal. It could be seen from the activities of planning programs, implementing programs, conducting program monitoring and evaluation as well as implementing effective leadership, constraints and solutions. Madrasas are quite capable of implementing management standards correctly although there are still many shortcomings, including, routine management activities, formalities, low awareness of the importance on quality, lack of regulation understandings, finance activities, and availability of facilities-infrastructure. The madrasas are respectively pesantren-based strategic places, collaboration ability to involve with the community, principal’s effective leadership, and high enthusiasm to improve the madrasah’s quality through implementing education management standards. Keywords: implementation; education management standards; madrasa quality

Abstract

Boarding school’s acceptance of new things while retaining the old things on good terms (ashlah) allows the boarding to survive and align with existing developments and deconstructs new values using the yellow book as a reference, including state, social politics, human rights, sociocultural diversity, and democracy responses.  This study employs a qualitative approach with descriptive methodologies: observation, interviews, and documentation for data gathering, and focuses on management theory. The results demonstrated that each level of management is properly implemented. Furthermore, the term democratic education is not explicitly stated in the curriculum of boarding education; however, the spirit, values, ideas, perceptions, and practices of democracy manifested in daily life, such as the building of the spirit of cooperation in the student’s learning process, appreciation for fellow students and teachers, cleric and kyai, as well as the election of chairman regularly. The curriculum, which is considered to hidden, is firmly stated as numerous characteristics of the boarding school outside the studied ones, such as organizational aspects, social, and cultural systems, yet it is able to affect changes in students' values, perceptions, and actions. Keywords: Management; Democratic Education; Diversity Behavior

Abstract

The Pancasila Economic Democracy's adoption encountered significant cultural and psychological barriers. Democratic economic models have not yet produced sufficient outcomes. Contrarily, liberal capitalistic democracy is being practiced in this context.  This article discusses Economic Democracy as Indonesia’s economic system. This research is a library with a descriptive approach that collects documentation data from various articles and books and analyzed it through content analysis. This research’s results must balance planning between national and decentralization levels in implementing economic activities to reach economic and social justice. In addition, Indonesia can also build a more rational foundation of the peculiarities of economic activity so that it is not limited to religious values but involves cognitive awareness to realize ideals as stated in the Preamble of the UUD 1945. Current capability is viewed as a deficit that could become a tremendous strength in the future so that individuals will not be frightened of being different or taking risks.Keyword: Indonesia; Economic Democracy; The Concept and Reality of Failure.
