Abstract

Plantation of PT. Tidar Kerinci Agung (PT. TKA) is a company engaged in oil palm plantations with an area of 24,000 ha and has been certified by Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO). PT. TKA has a factory for Crude Palm Oil (CPO) processing, therefore the local community can sell their palm oil yield to the factory. However, the purchase of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) from the community was constrained by the fact that many people use random seeds which reduce the quality of CPO, moreover the agronomic factors such as fertilization, rainfall, plant maintenance and harvesting on smallholder plantations which are the factors that can reduce the quality of CPO. The present study was conducted for 3 months, with the objective was to determine the comparison of the palm oil extraction rate between smallholder plantations and large-scale estate (PT. Tidar Kerinci Agung). The research method was a survey by purposive sampling to obtained data on oil palm production, especially in relation with oil extraction rate. The result showed that the oil extraction rate of CPO was 24.51% and it’s on Palm Kernel Oil (PKO) was 4.45% in large-scale estate (PT. TKA). It was higher than the oil extraction rate on smallholder plantations. The oil extraction rate of CPO and PKO in the high yielding, moderate yielding, and low-yielding smallholder plantations were CPO 20.55% and PKO 4.42%, CPO 21.50% and PKO 3.77%, and CPO 18.35% and PKO 4.34%, respectively.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the diversity accessions of Siak Regency’s local rice. The study was conducted for six months, from May to October 2018 at Experimental Garden of Agriculture Faculty, Riau University. This study used descriptive qualitative analysis method based on agronomic and morphological characters, as well as characterization activities on 21 local rice accessions. There are 10 morphological characters with low diversity, such as the surface, leaf surface, leaf tongue shape, leaf neck color, leaf ear color, leaf book color, leaf tongue color, grain tip color and the color of the pistil. There are five morphological characters with rather low diversity, such as the presence of lemmapalea hair, the color of stem segments, the color of leaf blades, panicle shaft and vigor. There are five morphological characters with quite high diversity, such as yellowing of leaves, panicle discharge, panicle type, secondary panicle branches and leaf midrib color also three morphological characters with high diversity, such as lemmapalea color, grain tip fur and grain tip fur color. While the agronomic character with a rather low diversity is vigor and there are three characters with quite high diversity, such as the stiffness of stem, yellowing of leaves and panicle discharge. Keywords: Agronomy, diversity, local rice, morphology.

Abstract

Coffee is a plantation commodity which important to increase its production, such as by vegetative propagation i.e., shoot cuttings that stimulated by Plant Growth Regulators (PGR). The research was on the effect of Rootone F concentrations on roots and shoots induction of Arabica coffee (Coffea arabica) shoot cuttings, it was carried out at the smallholder coffee plantation Solok Radjo in Aie Dingin Village, Lembah Gumanti District, Solok Regency on April until August 2022. The objectives of this study were to determine the growth response of Arabica coffee shoot cuttings on the induction of the roots and shoots, and to determine the best concentration of Rootone F PGR on the growth of it. This study was designed by a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 concentrations of Rootone F, namely: 0, 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 ppm. The observed variables were percentage of live cuttings, first shoots emergence, longest root and shoot, number of roots and shoots, and fresh weight of roots. The obtained data were analyzed of variance at the 5% level and if it was significantly different continued by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that there was a shoot cuttings growth response of Arabica coffee on the variable of percentage of living cuttings, first shoots emergence, longest root and shoot, and fresh weight of roots, except on the variable number of roots and shoots. The best concentration of Rootone F PGR on the roots and shoots induction of Arabica coffee shoot cuttings in supporting its growth was 400 ppm.

Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascolanicum L.) is one of the horticultural crops that is widely consumed by humans. This study aims to obtain interaction the type of mulch and doses of chicken manure on the growth and yield of shallots. This Research was conducted at Panai Pasir Talang , Muara Labuh, South Solok Regency with a height of ± 430 meters above sea level, in December 2018 to February 2019. The research method is an experiments used factorial complete randomized design with two factors. Factors I is the type of mulch (black plastic mulch, silver plastic mulch, rice straw mulch) and factors II is chicken manure (10 tons / ha, 20 tons / ha and 30 tons / ha).. The results showed that there was no interaction between the use of several types of mulch with chicken manure doses on the growth and yield of shallots. The use of black plastic mulch yielded the best results on fresh tuber weight per plot and per hectare of onion namely 1,643 kg / plot and 11.74 tons / ha. The dose of chicken manure of 20 tons / ha gave the best influence on plant height, number of leaves, fresh tuber weight per clump, per plot and per hectare as well as wind dry weight per clump, per plot and per hectare of onion.

Abstract

Lettuce is a leaf vegetable that is popular with the public. The increase and potential of lettuce cultivation requires efficient cultivation techniques. The production of a plant with a hydroponic system is closely related to the availability of a nutrient solution. This study aims to determine the growth response and yield of lettuce plants at various concentrations of AB-Mix nutrients with the NFT system. The design used in this study was a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of one factor, namely AB-Mix nutrition with 4 treatment levels, namely: K1 (850 ppm), K2 (1,050 ppm), K3 (1,250 ppm), K4 (1,450 ppm). Based on the results of the study, giving AB-Mix nutrient concentrations had a significant effect on the best plant height parameters with K4 treatment (1,450 ppm) with height (28.18 cm), number of leaves (9.61 strands), plant weight (43.47 grams), and consumption weight (38.27 grams).

Abstract

Initial information on spore populations of pathogenic fungi is needed to anticipate opportunities for rice disease to develop in swamps and to take early steps in disease control efforts. Disease control by suppressing the initial inoculum and its rate of development has a high chance of success and is preventive. The purpose of this study was to obtain information on the diversity of fungal spore populations in the air using spore traps in the swamp rice agroecosystem of Central Kalimantan. The research was carried out in the 2021 planting season at the swamp rice production center, namely Blanti Siam, Central Kalimantan. The study of the diversity of the fungal spore population was carried out in a display location of 14 ha of rice varieties and 66 ha of rice demfarm. For the display of rice varieties, 14 spore traps were installed, while at the demfarm location, 22 spore traps were installed. Observations of spore traps were carried out 4 times starting from nursery/tillage and continued for each stage of rice plant growth. Identification of fungal pathogens was carried out based on the morphological characteristics of the spores/conidia with the aid of a microscope. The results of the identification of the spore trap on the display of rice varieties and rice demfarm obtained spores of Rhizopus sp., Helminthosporium sp., Fusarium sp., Pyricularia oryzae, Alternaria sp., Cercosporella sp., and nematodes. Helminthosporium sp. found to be very dominant in both locations. Pyricularia oryzae was obtained in very low quantities. This is related to the low rate of blast disease at the location of rice display and rice demfarm. Fusarium sp., Alternaria sp., Cercosporella sp., and nematodes were found to be very low in spore traps.
