Abstract

This study extends a previous Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model to include lost sales inventory and afinite planning horizon model. An exact algorithm is developed for finite planning horizon lost salesinventory condition. A practical approach is proposed to derive the optimal solution. The algorithm with lostsales inventory and finite planning horizon method improves the total cost of the inventory policy. Ouranalysis shows that the minimum total cost of the finite planning horizon method is always greater or equalto the infinite planning horizon method.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to make a prototype for shrimp crackers process in the small industries. Thereare some processes to make shrimp crackers but the critical process is drying crackers. In fact, shrimpcrackers were usually drying under sunheat. Drying shrimp crackers process needs long time, not hiegenis,and unpredictable weather. This machine was designed to dry shrimp crackers easier, faster, and hiegenis.Prototype can dry shrimp crackers indoor. Otomation applied for drying and packing system to keepproduction rate. This system can increase production rate until 23%.

Abstract

Research on Supply Chain Management (SCM) in the furniture industry have been carried out in Indonesialately. These researches have resulted in various models that are useful to solve the problems experienced bythe furniture company in Indonesia, such as the high cost of furniture production, scarcity of raw materials,etc. However, the results of these researches are difficult to be implemented by small and medium-scalefurniture company. This is due to lack of human resources and lack of understanding of the application ofSCM. The purpose of this paper is to develop an interactive application as an educational tool to provideinsight into one of the SCM technology implementations, especially in procurement planning and inventorycontrol of raw materials. This research was developed from mathematical models in previous research, thenthe mathematical models are arranged into Ms. Excel based applications, verified by tested by the user andthen refined, making it an application of educational tool that is easy, smart, and effective. The results of thispaper can be used to improve the understanding of one of the SCM applications in the furniture industry

Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) hold an important role in developing a country’s economy.Nevertheless, data shows that SMEs didn’t manage to stay in the competition due to the a handful ofproblems. Human resources that run these SMEs become substancial. With their knowledge, human resourceplanning the purpose of establishing the SMEs, creating a wide range of products as well as providing anyservices to customers. Knowledge of each individual that run this business is certainly different, despitehaving the same profession. This difference may appear because of the tacit knowledge possessed by each ofthese individuals. Mastery of explicit knowledge may afford to produce a uniformity, but understanding tacitknowledge is able to produce something more valuable. Tacit knowledge will provide a more tangible impactwhen externalized into explicit knowledge that is more easily understood, and further documented and takeninto deliberation in developing strategies to achieve and maintain the earmark of the SME.Case study is conducted in So Kressh CV. Kajeye Food, a medium enterprise in Malang producing variouskind of fruit chips. The result shows that knowledge externalization only affect the human resources in SoKressh. After that, conducted by making the manual book with the working method as an item that canrepresent the existence of knowledge externalization. And for the last step is planning the human resourcedevelopment strategies that focuses on : an effective and efficient working methods, an effectivecommunication, a two-way concept in delivering the training materials, making a training simulation andsocializing the program.

Abstract

In the production department of a manufacturing company, ergonomic, healty and safety should be a majorconcern. It’s a departement with an high accident work rate. One of approach method in the improvement ofworking methods of cutting provider of raw materials are antrhopmometri in ergonomics, its can be used toimprove the working tools of the operator so that work equipment is used in accordance with the standardsbody anthopometri operator. Nordic body map used to recognize the parts of the body operators that havecomplaint at the time of cutting raw material that aim to reduce the complaints that occur when they doinghis job. The study was conducted with the biomechanical approach to the condition before and after work.Previous measurements of anthropometric dimensions of the body to obtain a standard tool used byoperators of production department. Biomechanical analysis focused only on the link and joint body partsoperators has complaints while working to obtain the energy consumption before and after work. The initialdimension of the raw material table slider 350 x 25 cm with a single cutting of the raw material resulting inrepeated cuts. The result of dimensional redesign raw material table slider that indicate significantdifferences, the dimension needed are 530 x 70 cm. By using raw materials slider table current conditionthe energy expenditure result are 4,6375 kcal/min. Based on standard workload Lehman 3,75 kcal/min, theenergy expenditure operators showed that cuts the raw material requires greater energy. Through theredesign of the raw material table slider and better cutting methode, the forces and moments acting on theoperators when work will create the new workload position. The energy expenditure of the new workloadposition indicate better result and operators doing their job with a standard workload.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company engaged in the field of packaging tissue with make- to-order system with four types ofproducts , namely toilet roll , napkin , handkerchief and facial tissue. On each work station of the fourthproduction line, occuring inefficiencies between workstations using a machine with manual work stations .Therefore, it is necessary to equity workload of each workstation and redesign of work stations that areexpected to minimize the amount of work in process . In this study, allocation of workstasion are made as aimprovement recommendation. Performance analysis conducted to see the efficiency of each of theseconditions . An increase in line efficiency of each production line. In this study, also conducted the analysisand design of work stations using software MannequinPro . Based on the proposed allocation of workstations , using software ProModel simulation to compare the value of WIP and utility with initial conditions.

Abstract

factors: unit of measurement, storage dimension, packaging dimension, minimum and maximum stock, andaisle allowance. Unit of measurement is used to convert inventory stock to physical inventory. Dimension isused to determine space area and stacks, include effective storage area and utilization. Minimum andmaximum stock are used as indicator for monitoring current stock and to predict space area that will be usedfor some periods ahead. Aisle allowance is used for material and personnel movement. Next research needsto be developed for layout model to get the whole view of storage area.

Abstract

Performance and productivity of production line system are very influenced by facility layout planning.Facilities composition which is appropriate with flow of materials between departments, certainly wouldsustain the continuity of the system. PT. X is one of the subsidiaries of PT. Astra Otoparts Tbk. whichmanufactures motorcycle chains. Composition of the current layout facilities on the 1st Plant has not fullyoptimized well and indeed has a potential possibility to be developed further in the future. This statement issupported from the result of existing MHPS which gives Rp 1,047,678.49 for total cost of material handling,463.1 meters for total distance, and 1,617.24 minutes for total time of material movements. Also, the totalarea of empty spaces that can be utilized by the company in the current layout is only 89.74 m2. As for thepurposes of this research are: analyzing the performance of current layout, developing new layout designs toimprove the current one, and comparing the current with proposed improvement layouts. The process ofdesigning proposed layouts is done by using improvement-based algorithm (CRAFT) and hybrid/compositealgorithm (BLOCPLAN) that both of the algorithms need same inputs, which are: current facility layout andthe flow of material. Based from the results of MHPS calculation for both proposed layouts, show that layoutfrom BLOCPLAN algorithm gives maximal reduction to the total cost of material handling so that theamounts will be decreased to Rp 1,022,419.91 (reducing 2.4% from total cost of current layout), 434.62meters for total distance (reducing 6.2%), and 1,506.23 minutes for total time of material movements(reducing 6.86%). As for the total area of empty spaces, BLOCPLAN layout gives 110.74 m2 (23.4%) to beminimized than the current layout.
