Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of the problem based learning model on the chemistry learning outcomes of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Batu. The research method was using a quasi-experimental design with non-equivalent control group design. The sample used was students of class XI MIPA 1 as the experimental class and class XI MIPA 2 as the control class. From the research results obtained, the average prates value in the experimental class is 29.39 and the average pascates is 68.18. While the average prates in the control class is 22.35 and the pascates average is 54.70. The results of the hypothesis test analysis using the t test at a significance level of 5%, obtained t (count) > t (table), that is (2.988)> (1.997). Thus H0 is rejected, meaning that there is an influence of the problem based learning  model on the chemistry learning outcomes of the salt hydrolysis material of students in eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Batu. It is recommended for teachers to be able to use the problem based learning model as an alternative learning model in an effort to improve student learning outcomes and activeness.

Abstract

Every human being must produce waste, and it needs to get more serious attention from all parties because waste is a social phenomenon. If waste is not handled properly it can cause environmental problems both directly and indirectly. The direct impact is contracting infectious diseases or skin diseases while the indirect impact from waste is flooding. Along with population growth in a city, the amount of waste produced also increases and if it is not handled properly, it will result in an increasing number of piles of waste. This happens a lot in cities. The purpose of this research is to evaluate waste management in the Dehegila TPA, Morotai Island Regency. The results of this study indicate that the most common characteristics of waste in TPA are inorganic and organic waste, while the waste management used in TPA is open dumping or open management, waste transported to TPA is then carried out by the combustion process. thus causing environmental pollution.

Abstract

Ethnoscience is not something new in the world of education, although it is rarely applied in learning. This article aims to describe the application of ethnoscience-based learning to biology material in improving student achievement. This article was written using the theoretical method of literature review. The articles used in this synthesis consist of sixteen articles, each of which focuses on Biology in ethnoscience learning, Biology based on ethnoscience learning, and student achievement in both ethnoscience and non-ethnoscience based learning. The articles are published in national and international journals. This research resulted in a new concept which is a synergy between ethnoscience learning tools and student achievement.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine the feasibility of an android-based e-Module from dragonfly diversity data at Sri Gethuk Waterfall as biodiversity teaching material for Xth grade of Senior High School based on the results of expert assessment and readability test of biology teachers and students. This Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Robert Maribe Branch, 2009) which is limited up to the ADD stage. The study subjects consisted of two material experts, three media experts, two high school biology teachers, and 25 Natural Science students of Xth grade. The object of the study was a prototype of android-based e-module about Dragonfly Diversity at Sri Gethuk Waterfall. The data collection assessment instruments for the material experts, the media experts, the biology teachers, and the students. The results show that some BSNP standard assessment criterias have not yet identified in the e-Module. The criterias that have not yet identified are then corrected according to expert advice and verified with credible academic sources, so that the criteria of e-module can be suitable with the standards. All of the criterias of e-Module that suitable with the standards are identified, so the e-Module can be used as teaching material in learning activities.

Abstract

Environmental awareness is fundamental considering its impact on the survival of all creatures on Earth. This scoping review article aims to construct an effective and comprehensive approach to increase student environmental awareness. The writing of this article refers to the systematic review scoping method with five stages, those are topic selection, literature search, literature selection, literature assessment, and the last is analysis and synthesis of literature. The synthesis of this article focuses on research results from all aspects related to the environment as the dependent variable. Sixteen research articles published by international journals with a focus on environmental themes are the main data sources in this article. The synthesis of the 16 data sources resulted a summary of the implementation, evaluation, influencing factors as well as strategies in increasing environmental awareness from various articles and construct more effective environmental awareness approach.
