Abstract

Dental and oral health is important for overall health and quality of life so that the oral cavity cannot be separated from its function with other parts of the body. Nutrition is an important thing that must be fulfilled by pregnant women during pregnancy because it can affect the development of the fetus. Adequate nutritional intake is closely related to the formation and development of bones and teeth in the fetus. This study aims to describe the knowledge of pregnant women about nutritional intake for the process of developing tooth seeds in PKM Sumbersari Village, Ciparay District, Bandung Regency. The research method is descriptive. The research was carried out at PKM Sumbersari Village, Ciparay District, Bandung Regency. The study population was pregnant women who came to check their pregnancy at PKM Sumbersari Village, Bandung Regency. Sampling with Accidental Sampling as many as 28 respondents. The results showed that knowledge about nutritional intake for the development process of tooth germ as a whole was 53.6% of respondents had good criteria, and 46.6% had poor criteria. Respondents in this study had good knowledge of nutritional intake for the development of tooth germs.

Abstract

Health Teeth and mouth are very important for everyone, but there are still many people who still ignore it and think that dental and oral health are trivial things. This is related to the mother's knowledge about brushing teeth. This study aims to describe the mother's knowledge about brushing teeth in children aged 6-12 years in the dental polyclinic of Tanjungsari Public Health Center, Sumedang Regency. This research is descriptive quantitative with Questionnaire method. The research was carried out at the Dental Polyclinic of Tanjungsari Public Health Center, Sumedang Regency. The study was conducted on mothers who have children aged 6-12 years with a sample of 28 respondents who were determined using the slovin formula. Primary data obtained from the questionnaire will be presented in the form of a frequency distribution table with the results of the study showing knowledge about brushing teeth as a whole, namely 21.4% of respondents have good criteria, 46.4% have sufficient criteria, and 32.1% have poor criteria. Although almost most mothers who have children aged 6-12 years have sufficient knowledge of the criteria, there are still some who have less criteria. In order to achieve optimal dental and oral health, the knowledge of brushing teeth at the dental clinic at the Tanjungsari Public Health Center needs to be improved through various efforts, one of which is by providing counseling about brushing teeth.

Abstract

The Street Singers Group (KPJ) is an association of street singers who perform their musical performances in groups. At a young age, street buskers are always identified with all kinds of negative perspectives because they lead a very wild life. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge and behavior regarding dental and oral health maintenance in the Sky Music Street Singer Community, Bandung. The research method used is descriptive research. Sampling technique with cluster random sampling. Data collection in this study was conducted by means of interviews and google forms filled out by respondents. The results showed that respondents whose last education was junior high school had the least criteria 8 people with a percentage of 22.9%, respondents aged 15–24 years had less criteria as many as 9 people with a percentage of 25.8%, respondents who had negative behavior criteria as many as 23 people with a percentage of 66%, the factors that influence this are the level of education, information, environment and age. The level of knowledge and behavior in maintaining oral and dental health in the street busker community consists of 18 (51.5%) respondents having poor knowledge criteria, as many as 23 (66%) respondents having negative behavior criteria.

Abstract

Dental and oral health is an inseparable part of body health, because it will affect the overall health of the body. Children with special needs, one of them is blind, who has a condition with impaired vision that requires assistance in maintaining personal hygiene, especially dental and oral hygiene. This study aims to determine the relationship between brushing habits and oral hygiene in blind people at SLB Citeureup, Cimahi City. This study uses an analytical survey method with a cross sectional design. The research was conducted at SLB Citeureup, Cimahi City. Blind population with a sample of 17 respondents who were determined using the Slovin formula. Data analysis in this study used the Kendall's Tau correlation test with hypothesis testing based on a significance level of <0.05 with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that there was a relationship between brushing habits and oral and dental hygiene in the visually impaired, this was indicated by a p value of 0.018. It can be concluded that the hypothesis which states that there is a relationship between brushing habits and oral hygiene in blind children can be accepted because basically the intelligence abilities of blind children are the same as normal children, but if the ability to brush teeth of blind children does not eat well, it affects oral hygiene.

Abstract

Smoking habits are one of the triggers for the emergence of disorders of the oral cavity and its effect on aesthetics, among others, can cause tooth discoloration, thickening of the mucosa, gingivitis, and even oral cancer. The content of cigarettes in the form of tobacco, nicotine, carbon monoxide, ammonia, and other derivatives can irritate the oral cavity when consumed due to combustion. Riskesdas 2010 research data, the percentage of the age of starting smoking in Indonesia is the largest, namely at the age of 15-19 years (43.4%). These data show that most Indonesians start smoking at the age of teenagers. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of dental and oral health knowledge and smoking behavior in class XII Mechanical Engineering students at SMKN 1 Katapang, Bandung Regency in 2022. This type of research is a descriptive study with a survey approach. Sampling of this research was done by total sampling. The way this research works is by giving questionnaires to respondents. The results of this study showed that the subject was 68 students where 47 students smoked and 21 students did not smoke. And on dental and oral health knowledge, there were 10 students (14.07%), subjects who had moderate knowledge were 25 students (38.8%), and subjects who had less knowledge were 33 students (48.5%). And for the knowledge of oral health and smoking behavior as many as 26 students who smoke with less knowledge. It was concluded that smoking behavior had a low category of knowledge regarding dental and oral health.

Abstract

The most common dental and oral disease in children, apart from caries, is gingival inflammation (gingivitis). The high prevalence of gingivitis in Indonesia is due to the fact that people have not implemented good and effective habits in brushing their teeth. This study aims to determine the habit of brushing teeth, the frequency of students experiencing gingivitis and the relationship between brushing teeth and gingivitis. This research was conducted on fifth grade students at Kalanganyar 1 Elementary School in Labuan – Pandeglang District, Banten. In April-May 2022. This research uses cross sectional and quantitative analytical methods with a sample of 47 respondents. The results showed that 39 respondents (83%) had poor criteria for brushing their teeth, 32 respondents (68.1%) had gingivitis and there was a relationship between brushing habits and the incidence of gingivitis based on the Fisher Exact, namely (P - value = 0.009 < 0.05). The conclusion of the relationship brushing habits in class v children with gingivitis in elementary school Kalanganyar 1 Labuan district in 2022, is that there is a relationship between the habit of brushing teeth and the incidence of gingivitis.

Abstract

Dental stains are colors that stick to the surface of the teeth, usually due to the color of food, drink, or nicotine content, especially the substance that produces dental stains. Smoking habits can cause stains (stains on teeth), where cigarette smoke containing various substances sticks to the tooth surface which over time will make the tooth surface feel rough. The purpose of the study was to determine the description of tooth staining (stain) in the smokers community in RT 12 Perum Gramapuri Tamansari Kab. Bekasi. This type of research is descriptive research. This research method is a cross sectional study which was conducted in May-June 2022 on 40 people in RT.12 Perum Gramapuri Bekasi Regency. The habit of consuming cigarettes was obtained through interviews using a questionnaire, while stains on teeth were measured through observation. The data is processed and presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. The results of the study found that the most frequent smoking frequency was moderate category smokers with the number of cigarettes smoked 11-20 cigarettes per day. Based on the frequency of smoking, the formation of stains on the teeth is most common in smokers with the moderate category.

Abstract

The most common dental and oral disease in the community, especially in school-age children, is dental caries. One of the causes of dental caries is the type and frequency of cardiogenic snacks. This study aims to determine the relationship between the type and frequency of snacks on the experience of dental caries in school-age children at SDN Cisalak III, Sumedang Regency. This type of research is quantitative analytic with cross-sectional. Samples were taken by purposive sampling method with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Measurement of the type and frequency of snacks was carried out using a questionnaire filled out by students aged 12 years. The experience of dental caries was measured directly by the DMF-t index, design with fisher exact hypothesis test. The results of this study indicate that the type of snacks consumed the most is the type of cardiogenic snacks as much as 64.1% with a high frequency of cardiogenic snacks at 74.4%. From the results of direct examination, it was found that the DMF-T index of respondents had very high criteria, namely 51.3%. After the Fisher exact test, there was a significant relationship between the type of snacks and the experience of dental caries P(0.02) < (0.05) and there was a significant relationship between the frequency of snacks and the experience of dental caries in school-age children P(0.04) < (0.05).

Abstract

Health is very important for every human being, dental health problems in Indonesia are relatively high, especially children with special needs, namely the visually impaired, have lower levels of dental and oral health and hygiene when compared to the normal group. This study aims to determine the description of the technique, frequency and time of brushing teeth in blind children at Citeureup Special School, Cimahi City. This research is descriptive qualitative by using interview and video brushing methods. The research was carried out at the Citeureup Special School, Cimahi City. The study was conducted on the blind with a sample of 16 respondents. Primary data obtained from the checklist sheet will be presented in the form of a frequency distribution table, the results are analyzed to obtain an overview or information. The results showed that the overall knowledge of brushing techniques was 100% of respondents using the horizontal technique and 0% of respondents using the roll technique. The frequency of brushing teeth in blind children was 87.5% already answered 2x a day and the time of brushing teeth in blind children was 31, 2% have answered 2 times in the morning after breakfast and at night before going to bed.

Abstract

In general, children's oral hygiene is worse and children eat more food and drinks that cause caries. Children generally like sweet foods such as biscuits, chocolate, if the child eats too much sweet food and rarely cleans it, then his teeth have a lot of caries. This study aims to determine the relationship between mother's level of knowledge about dental caries in preschool children in kindergarten. Al-Muttaqien Bandung. This research is a quantitative analytical research. This research was conducted in February-May 2022, by conducting direct examinations on children and filling out questionnaires. The sampling technique was carried out using the purposive sampling technique with a sample of 30 respondents. Data processing was carried out quantitatively by collecting data on caries def-t in preschool-aged children and filling out knowledge questionnaires for mothers. The results of the study regarding the relationship between the mother's level of knowledge about dental caries in preschool age children in kindergarten Al-Muttaqien Bandung, a high level of maternal knowledge as many as 26 people with a percentage of 86,7% and a caries index with a very low category of 10 people with a percentage of 33,3%, which states that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge of mothers about dental caries in preschool age children in kindergarten Al-Muttaqien Bandung.
