Abstract

The empowerment PKK team in Pecoro Village, Rambipui District, Jember Regency has been carried out through organik fertilizer from household waste. The purpose of this activity is to empower PKK women to use household waste into products that can be used. The activity is carried out through lecture / counseling activities, mentoring and the practice of processing organik waste into compost. As a result, the level of awareness of PKK mothers and the community about waste management has increased, and is able to add additional cash and income.

Abstract

Community participation-based waste management has been carried out by DKLH Jember Regency through the establishment of the Main Waste Bank its derivative organization, namely the Unit Waste Bank at a lower level. In this system, the effort being made is the integration of waste management, starting from the household as a producer, followed by sorting, then depositing it to BSU and ending with delivery to a temporary warehouse so that the waste is handled properly. This article aims to explore the potentials and problems encountered in the management of a Waste Bank which involves the participation of residents while still paying attention to aspects of economic feasibility. The research was carried out using the analitcal descriptive via interview and analysis of primary data owned by BSU ASRI BMP with due observance of scientific principles and maintaining the independence and interests of the authors. From the results of the research it is known that waste valuation efforts by providing economic value to each component of waste produced by each household are able to generate citizen interest in sorting and depositing the waste produced. The main contributors in the transfer of inorganic waste from BSU to BSI sequentially are paper, plastic and metal waste with the highest exchange rate ratio in metal waste. The main problem faced in the management of waste banks is the motivation of residents to independently handle daily waste. Besides that, there are also management constraints because the managers are housewives who must divide their time and attention for routine daily activities.

Abstract

Sentool Plantation is a plantation area, agro-industrial and agro-tourism are located in Suci Village, Panti District, Jember Regency. This area is at the foot of Mount Argopuro with abundant water sources. In this area there is a river flow that can be utilized as a micro-hydro power plant (PLTMH). PLTMH is a relatively easy power plant to make and apply in rural areas or villages. PLTMH was chosen as an alternative energy source with the principle of developing renewable energy Therefore, in this community service activity want to effort to analyze potency of electric power generation and optimization of the MHP System at the Sentool Plantation which is useful as a consideration PLTMH development to meet the electricity needs of the local community and electricity needs for the development of agro-tourism. Power potential analysis process and optimization of the PLTMH system is carried out with two stages of data analysis, namely the calculation of the potential power theoretical and simulation using HOMER Energy software. HOMER Energy is used for profit simulation. The greatest potency generated power is 53.12 kWh with a discharge of 0.398 m3/s and the smallest is 18.05 kWh with a discharge of 0.135 m3/s. Simulations using HOMER Energy software produce system configurations PLTMH with an estimated capital cost of IDR 48,600,000, operational costs and maintenance 42,900,000 per year, NPC of IDR -2,557,215,000, LCoE of IDR-573.63. PLTMH has a capacity of 37.1 kW with annual production of 290,573 kW, get a profit of IDR 212,747,987.50 from the sale of energy. The results of the calculation of the water discharge, the height of the water fall and the generated power are quite high, the water flow in the Sentool Plantation is technically feasible to build a micro-hydro power plant (PLTMH).

Abstract

Furniture (chairs, beds, sideboards and so on) are items needed by every household that potential to be cultivated as a livelihood. Some of the basic materials for making furniture products are available locally (village) and some come from the city. Techniques for making furniture products such as how to make wooden frames, cut furniture cloth or leather, sew furniture fabrics, and the process of assembling and combining them into a furniture product must be owned by furniture workers, in order to open a furniture business. In addition to the technical skills that must be possessed, the required equipment such as tools, sewing machines and so on must also be owned for this furniture business to be successful. Some of the difficulties of Jelbuk furniture entrepreneurs are that they do not have enough skills to sew and do not have a sewing machine. If there is sewing work, it is always given to another party whose existence is 20 km from Jelbuk. This is what makes Jelbuk entrepreneurs less economically empowered. Therefore, the purpose of carrying out this activity is to provide guidance on sewing techniques and procurement of sewing machines as an alternative solution for these furniture entrepreneurs. This activity was carried out in several stages, namely 1) procuring sewing machines that were tailored to the needs of making a furniture product, 2) providing guidance on sewing techniques, and 3) training on techniques for making fashion furniture products according to consumer tastes. Guidance on sewing techniques is given starting from getting to know the sewing machine and its characteristics as well as sewing guidance to make a simple product to the details. The results of the community service activities are enough to help improve the ability of sewing techniques so that all pron products can be done at their own place without having to be given to other parties, so that the completion is faster and more cost efficient. The guidance process is still given for 3 months until it is completely independent. The ability of furniture entrepreneurs increases, the settlement process is faster, the number of consumers increases and will ultimately increase the income of furniture entrepreneurs in Suger Kidul Village, Kec. Jelbuk, Kab. Jember.

Abstract

The community service aims at training the internship medical doctor on effective communication for doctor-patient narrative inquiry on TBC. This workshop was held due to need for the achievement on TBC contact investigation. Four-step training was conducted including exposure to effective communication and narrative inquiry, focus group discussion on problems and alternative solutions, peer doctor-patient communication practice, and reflection. The results of the current community service reveal that the achievement on TBC investigation rises due to the internship medical doctors willingness to do the follow through of the program. They have initially followed the standard norms of doctor-patient communication, and even improve their method of communication by utilizing their knowledge and understanding of the conversational maxims and use it in the narrative inquiry on TBC.

Abstract

A Santriwati, of course, does not rule out the opportunity to be able to start a business to maximize the potential of dragon fruit agricultural products. The aim of empowerment is to form a Millennial Santri Business Workshop at the Tanwirut Thullab Islamic Boarding School, encouraging understanding of the potential of dragon fruit, building an entrepreneurial spirit, and the process of making processed dragon fruit products. The situation analysis indicated that problems were found, including: the decline in selling prices at the peak of the dragon fruit harvest, the poverty level of female students when they left the boarding school, and a lack of understanding of the potential of Sambirejo Village. The empowerment participants included 38 female students aged 17 - 18 years and who were about to complete their education. The approach used during the process of implementing this empowerment is an approach that includes: team formation, formulating goals, gathering stakeholders, gathering needs, determining problem priority analysis, preparation, implementation, mentoring, review and evaluation, determining new needs and targets. As a result of empowering Santriwati, they gain understanding and skills to make processed Dragon Fruit Pudding, Jam and Jenang Grendul products as entrepreneurial provisions. The response shown by Santriwati, 72% gave a very positive response and 18% gave a positive response regarding product understanding, entrepreneurial spirit and the product manufacturing process. The series of empowering Santriwati in the Millennial Santri Business Workshop to build an entrepreneurial spirit starts from the stage of selecting ingredients, composition and processing of processed products that have the potential to be produced and sold to consumers.

Abstract

The production of eggshell powder as a water purifier has the potential to be utilized in Senoni Village, Sebulu District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. Based on the results of initial observations the majority of residents there use Mahakam river water for daily needs where the water is still classified as cloudy. The purpose of implementing Community Service Activities is through socializing the production and utilization of eggshell powder as a water purifier and providing assistance through training activities on the powder as a water purifier. The approach method used were the lecture method, demonstration method, and mentoring method. Furthermore, the stages of socialization implementation as a solution to overcome the problems are as follows: 1) sample preparation stage, 2) socialization preparation stage, 3) implementation stage, and 4) evaluation stage. The results of the activity showed that an increase of 84% of participants knew the procedure for making eggshell flour, and 60% felt that it was very easy to make so it was very possible for participants to make it independently at their respective homes. This activity went well and smoothly without any significant problems. Participants are interested and want to implement the new knowledge that has been obtained through this socialization method, scientific findings results, and a short conclusion. The abstract should only be typed in one paragraph and one-column format.

Abstract

SMAI Gumukmas is a privately-funded high school situated in Purwoasri Village, Gumukmas District, Jember, with a B accreditation status. The absence of laboratory resources challenges devising inventive, uncomplicated, and pragmatic classroom learning, such as Chemistry. Collaboration between SMAI Gumukmas and the Chemistry Department lecturers to conduct community service is a mutually beneficial initiative that fosters curriculum innovation and practicum subjects. Acid-base is a chemistry topic with material relevant to all grade levels and can be easily visualized through practical examples from everyday life. The methodology involves delivering a lecture or theoretical framework on acid-base, followed by practical work. The acid-base practical is designed to commence with comprehension of the acid-base concept, including everyday life examples, before progressing to classroom implementation. The acid-base theme learning activities and practicum at SMAI Gumukmas proceeded seamlessly and successfully. The initial class consisted of 40 students from grades 11 and 12, while the subsequent consisted of 33 grade 10 students. The students exhibited a positive response as their studies progressed with exemplifications derived from everyday life.

Abstract

Water is a basic need for all living organisms. Water quality implies living quality. Several parameters influencing water quality include minerals, dissolved organic substances, and turbidity. The water consumed must meet proven water quality standards. However, water quality still needs to be improved in several areas before consumption. The well water in residential areas placed on rice fields generally needs to meet the requirements for consumption. Many Taman Gading housing complex residents, especially in RW 036 RT 006, still use the well water to meet their daily needs. The well water quality in this area tends to be smelly and somewhat misty. Proper treatment is needed to improve the quality of well water in this area to reduce the negative impact on the population's health in the long term. This training focused on well water purification and filtration using slow sand filtration technology (SPL) to improve water quality. This method uses activated charcoal, sand, gauze, and pumice as filter media in specific proportions. The use of this method is effective and efficient in reducing the turbidity level of the sample water to the threshold for drinking water (<500 ppm), with a neutral pH (close to 7.00). This technology is effortless for residents to use and apply independently at a relatively low cost.

Abstract

Feed management, which accounts for 70% of overall production expenses, is one of the cornerstones of effective broiler chicken farming. The body weight, health, and nitrogen levels in faeces can all be improved by adding additives to feed. This community service's goal is to guide and support broiler chicken breeders in their usage of fish hydrolyzed for feed management. This activity was carried out in August and September 2023 in the chicken farming partner owned by Mrs. Cholili's with a production capacity of up to 20,000 in Mumbulsari village, Mumbulsari district, Jember Regency. The methods are counselling, feeding practices and assistance during the production phase. The outcome is mastering the technique for adding fish hydrolyzed to enhance the health and growth performance of chickens. This skill and knowledge could be implemented by other farmers to maximize yields by using fish hydrolyzate.
