Abstract

The purposes of this study are to know the direct effects of education and health on per capita income level and the indirect effect of health on per capita income level through its effect on education. A system of equations was formulated and was estimated using maximum likelihood estimation procedure. The results indicated that parameter estimates are not statistically significant at the 5 percent level of significance. However, those are theoritically sound, since the sign of coefficients in the variables is in line with existing theory. The efect of education on per capita income is positive and the indirect effect of health throuth its effect on education is also positive. The results of study suggest that the per capita income might be increased if education level of society increased through expansion of government budget on education, while health level of society should not be ignored eventhough it negates per capita income. Key Words: Health, Education, and per capita income.

Abstract

Inflation is a macro-economic disease that can damage the economy joints , damage the climate in production, and weaken purchasing of community. Because such damage to the economy as a result of high inflation, the monetary authority always tried to recruit all of the potential for inflation to avoid a major. Throughout history  of Indonesian economy until the end of the year 2006, the average inflation rate (over 27 years) reached 11.03% of the inflation level is high enough, even 1966 years old indonesia inflation reached 650% and inflation reached 120% in 1967, and inflation in 1998 reached 77.63%.Based on existing conditions in inflation, the formulation of the problem examined in this research is:"What is the dominant variable  that influence of inflation in Indonesia”Based on the theoretical study of several publications and research results, it appears that there are 7 (seven) variables that affect inflation, like: increase in production costs, increase in food prices, increase the amount of money circulating, the government budget deficit, inflation expectations, exchange rates depreciation, and  income growth. To find out the dominant variable affecting inflation in Indonesia,so it used the equation  model  multiple regression, as follows:Inf = α M1 + íŸ Y/C + ¥ Dep-Rp + £ Inf t-1+ µi. The result of calculation with the OLS show:Inf =  12,936 + 1,190 Y/c + 0,254 M1 + 0.58 Dep-Rp + 0,116 Inf t-1.After the calculation, the relationship of independent variables increase the amount of money circulating, increased percapita income, increased the value of dollar depreciation, inflation expectations and public adaptip marked positive, this means if there is an increase of the independent variables (increase the amount of money circulating, increased in percapita income, increased rupiah depreciation rate, and inflation expectations adaptip community) then inflation will increase, this was in accordance with the theory. But in partial, only variable percapita income that have significant effect on the inflation in Indonesia. The results of this research provides a description of consumption behavior of Indonesian community , where the percapita income is relatively low (still less than Rp 10 million in a year) and the level of inflation is relatively high above 5% in a year, causing an increase in income directly translated to the increase in public consumption. Key Words: Inflation, income growth, dominant  variable.

Abstract

This research aimed to see the sequence level of "Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Daerah (APBD)” or local budget implementation based on effectiveness and efficiency, the growth of APBD, local finance capability indicators, and elasticity of local real income. Data used in this research was secondary data and panel data from 2004 until 2006 in ‘kabupaten/kota in South Sumatra. The analysis technique that used in this research were effectivenesss, efficiency, the growth of estimate and realization, local finance capability, elasticity concept, and by using Kolmogorov Smirnov and Mann-Whitney Test. The analysis result showed that Musi Banyuasin District has the first sequence level of "APBD” implementation, and Musi Rawas District has the last sequence level of "APBD” implementation. Elasticity of PAD to real income showed that Palembang City had elastic and the other ‘kabupaten/kota' had inelastic. Meanwhile, the result of Kolmogorov Smirnov showed that was significance differences of "APBD” implementation among districts/cities in South Sumatera. The result of Mann-Whitney Test showed that was no significance differences of "APBD” implementation between districts/cities. Key Words: APBD, performance, local real income, elasticity, district/city

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the effects of rice production, rice stock, and road & brige condition on rate of inflation in South Sumatera province. The data used in this study are aggregative secondary data from year 2000 to year 2007, and are utilized to estimate a multiple regression model  in the form of double-logaritm. The results of estimation show that rice production, rice stock, and road & brige condition neither totally nor partially influence the rate of inflation in South Sumatera significantly. However, the results show that they are theoretically consistent with and support the expectation. It suggests that one who wants to do the same kind of further research, she or he should use disaggregative data to allow more variation in the data set in order to obtain  sound results statistically. Key Words: Inflation, rice production, rice stock, and road & bridge condition.
