Abstract

Hutumuri waters have sea cucumber resources, but their utilization is still limited. However, there are exploitation activities of their habitat. Therefore, the community service activity was carried out, which aimed to provide knowledge and increase the role of SMP Negeri 8 Ambon students in conserving sea cucumber resources. The activity was conducted online by using various lecture methods, video playback, discussion and sharing of experiences by students, and provision of ebooks. The results of the evaluation by the pre-test and post-test indicated that the knowledge of students increased about the important of sea cucumber. It is expected that this activity will motivate students to be sustainable agent who play an important role to maintain the sustainability of sea cucumber resources and both coastal and marine ecosystems.

Abstract

Tuna fishing is one of the main livelihoods of the people of Wakasihu Village, in West Leihitu District. The impact of climate change and other external factors makes it difficult to determine potential tuna fishing areas in the waters. As a solution, the Department of Marine Science, Pattimura University has disseminated information on the Application of Satellite Remote Sensing and Acoustic Technology to Improve Fishermen's Economy. The results of the implementation of the activities were obtained (1) The desire of the tuna fishing community to use both technologies in tuna fishing operations, (2) Formation of a tuna fishing group to facilitate the processing of the KUSUKA Fisherman Card and obtaining assistance from the Marine and Fisheries Agency of Maluku Province, (3) Desire entered into an MoU with the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Pattimura University to solve fisheries problems in Wakasihu Village.

Abstract

Shredded fish processing is an alternative diversification of fishery product processing which has nutritional value and has a long shelf-life so that it can be stored for a long time at room temperature. Scad fish is an important economical fish, abundant and can be found at any time in the market. Scad fish also has a relatively high nutritional value and is processed at the household level, only fried, grilled and cooked in gravy according to the processing habits of the Maluku people. Processing Scad fish into shredded for sector II women of the GPM Silo congregation is one of the efforts to diversify processed fishery products that have nutritional value and increase knowledge and skills in fish processing which will later increase the income source for women.

Abstract

Wife has an important role in helping the family economy. Kailolo village, Subdistrict Haruku island, Central Maluku Regency is one of Village that has a fishing community. During the fishing season many fish are catches, but some fish are unsold. Fishermen’s wife has an opportunity through fish processing. However, there are several problems related to this opportunity, including: institutional problem, weak capacity on fish processing and the difficulty of raw materials during the high wave season. The purpose of this activity is to increase empowerment and the capacity of fishermen's wives in fish processing. The Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach was used in this activity. Through this approach, the community has a large role to implementing the proses. On the other hand, the results achieved were the formation of a group together with its organizational structure, increased entrepreneurship and understanding regarding licensing, processed fish products were produced and the realization of more attractive packaging labeling.

Abstract

Waai Vilage is one of the of fresh fish producers located in Salahutu District, Maluku Tengah Regency. The availability of fresh fish for community needs is an important factor that must be fulfill by fishermen and seller so that an understanding of handling fish is very importance when it’s caught to the hands of consumers remains at a good and prime level of freshness. The importance of post-capture handling fish will have a positive impact on fishermen, seller and consumers because it will provide value added to the fish, the selling value will be higher, the nutrition of the fish caught will also be maintained so that it will affect further processed products.

Abstract

Dusun Tapi Wakasihu Village has potential as a marine fishery resource, including various types of mollusks, such as abalone, lola, mata bulan, and clams. The culture of mollusks has developed in many places; however, this has not been done here. Some types can be exported, which increases income. The purpose of this community service activity is to support community groups in developing knowledge and technology of mollusk cultivation businesses with initial activities, including field assessments, socialization of the mollusk cultivation program, training and discussion sessions, and forming business groups. The development of mollusk cultivation will create opportunities for community economic development due to the availability of natural and human resources that can be fostered and assisted so that it turns to skillful community development activities in this village.

Abstract

Maluku is one of the archipelagic provinces which is famous for its sea area. The diversity of resources in Maluku needs to be optimally managed. However, there are various pressures on the marine environment due to irresponsible use, it requires human resources who are experts and skilled in managing the potential of these resources. Informal education in the form of counseling and community service will be very beneficial, especially for the younger generation (students). This counseling activity aims to provide students with knowledge about economically important gastropod resources in Maluku. The method used is the delivery of extension materials in order to introduce the marine and coastal environment, the types of gastropods and their benefits. This activity was focused on students in grades 5 and 6. The counseling activity was held on September 15 2022 at SDN 170 Central Maluku - Asilulu school. In general, the students were very interested in this counseling activity. This is evidenced by the interaction of questions and answers with the students. They have been able to understand the importance of maintaining economically important gastropod resources and maintaining their sustainability through practical knowledge about understanding the utilization of available resources.

Abstract

Determination of fishing ground by small-scale fisheries is still based on experience passed down from generation to generation. Fishermen do not yet have the knowledge and technology to make it easier for them to determine a good fishing ground, so it is inefficient in terms of time, cost and effort. In addition, business management that is not running properly has resulted in the business being run not developing. This training aims to increase fishermen's knowledge about determining potential fishing grounds, specifically for demersal fish species and management of small-scale fisheries. The training activities were carried out in Hukurila Village, South Leitimur District, Ambon City. The method of implementation is presentation of materials, discussions and than training in making bookkeeping simple. Participants were 31 fishers who were involved in this activity. Fishers felt that the material they received was very useful because it made it easier for them to determine demersal fishing areas that had important economic value. In addition, business bookkeeping through training has helped them manage the finances of the business they are running.
